Ugh I'm so done with the chip shortage thingy...

Like Volkswagen is trying to mitigate the impact and launch new models and cut costs but still they're worried about their profit targets? It's like, what even is the point of being a giant automaker if you can't even get your semiconductors in order?
I'm reading this article and I'm just thinking about how car manufacturers worldwide are struggling because of these tiny little chips...

Like, China has banned exports of rare earth minerals which are used in electric vehicle batteries? It's not the chip shortage that's the problem it's the whole global supply chain thing...
And what really gets my goat is that Stellantis – aka Vauxhall and Jeep – is doing way better than Volkswagen right now...

They're reporting a 13% jump in revenue because they're launching new products and their CEO Antonio Filosa is on top of things. Meanwhile, Volkswagen is stuck with its chip shortage and potential losses...
I don't get why car manufacturers can't just diversify or something? Like, instead of relying solely on Chinese chips, can't they produce them domestically or find alternative suppliers? It's like they're stuck in some kind of semantic semiconductor soup
