Safeway threatens to prosecute two juveniles accused of stealing alcohol

🤔 this is a pretty harsh stance from Safeway, you think? I mean, they're basically saying that these kids are going to be prosecuted just for being stupid enough to get caught shoplifting... like, what's the point of even having a youth court system if that's how it's gonna work out in practice? 🤷‍♂️

aww man 😔 this is just so sad 🤕 those kids must be really struggling at home to resort to shoplifting 🛍️ i mean we've all been there, we make mistakes, but that doesn't give them a free pass 🚫 i feel like the store's being a bit harsh tho 😒 they're just trying to do their job, it's not like they want to ruin those kids' lives 💔 maybe they could get counseling or something instead of prosecution? 🤝

I'm so done with this 😒. Prosecuting kids for stealing booze just sets them up for a lifetime of mistakes. What's the point of even having rehabilitation programs or juvenile courts if you're gonna throw 'em in the slammer? 🤔 These teens probably didn't think about the consequences, but that doesn't mean they shouldn't get help and guidance instead of punishment. It's like, we know you messed up, now let's figure out how to fix it together 💡.

I think this move by Safeway is a bit extreme, don't you? I mean, these kids are just juveniles, they're still learning about the consequences of their actions. Prosecuting them could have long-term effects on their lives, you know? 🤔 They might not even realize what they've done, and now they're facing serious charges.

I'm all for retailers taking shoplifting seriously, but is this really necessary? Can't they just offer alternative punishment, like community service or something? It seems like a lot of stress on the kids involved. And what about their families? Will they be affected by these charges too?

It's also worth considering that maybe there are other factors at play here, like poverty or lack of opportunities. Maybe these kids didn't know any better because they didn't have much support in their lives. 🤷‍♀️ Either way, I think it's time to rethink our approach to dealing with shoplifting and find more balanced solutions.
