Neve Campbell's "Scream 7" trailer has finally dropped, bringing back the Woodsboro horror franchise nearly three decades after its debut in 1996. The latest installment sees Sidney Prescott reuniting with a new Ghostface killer as she tries to protect her family from terror.
The first look at the film features Neve Campbell, now 52, alongside her daughter Tatum (played by Isabel May), who bears the name of Campbell's best friend Rose McGowan, murdered in the original "Scream." The trailer also stars Joel McHale as Sidney's husband Mark and Courtene Cox reprising her role as Gale Weathers.
The plot revolves around a new Ghostface killer terrorizing Woodsboro, with Sidney forced to face her darkest fears when her daughter becomes the next target. Campbell will once again play Sidney Prescott, who has created a new life for herself in the town where she first encountered horror.
A familiar voice from the original "Scream" can be heard at the end of the trailer - Matthew Lillard's Stu Macher. The character was one of two killers alongside Billy Loomis (Skeet Ulrich) in the first film, and his return has been highly anticipated by fans.
Lillard shared a video on Instagram where he teased his return to the franchise with a handwritten note featuring one of his character's last lines from the original "Scream." However, he expressed nervousness about stepping back into Stu, fearing that it could affect how people perceive him in the role.
The trailer has been met with excitement from fans, who are eager to see Neve Campbell reprise her iconic role as Sidney Prescott. Meanwhile, Courteney Cox's Gale Weathers and David Arquette's Dewey Riley will also return to the franchise, despite their characters being killed off in previous films.
"Scream 7" marks "Scream" creator Kevin Williamson's first time directing, following the death of original director Wes Craven in 2015. The film is set to hit theaters on February 27.

I've been waiting for this for ages and it's amazing that they're bringing back Neve Campbell as Sidney Prescott - she's still got that iconic look going on

scream 7 is just gonna be more of the same old formulaic horror stuff that's been done a million times. neve campbell can't save the franchise at this point, she's not getting any younger and her character's been dead for years in the storyline... Tatum may be trying to fill rose mcgowan's shoes but it's just gonna feel like we're watching an older version of a different movie

David Arquette's Dewey Riley is also giving me LIFE I remember watching the first one with my friends back in high school, and now she's playing her iconic character again. And yeah, Tatum (played by Isabel May) has Rose McGowan's name, which is just so sad. It feels like this whole franchise is being revived out of a sense of obligation rather than any real need for another movie.
