Neve Campbell’s ‘Scream 7’ trailer is here with a sneaky callback to the original — whose voice is that?

Neve Campbell's "Scream 7" trailer has finally dropped, bringing back the Woodsboro horror franchise nearly three decades after its debut in 1996. The latest installment sees Sidney Prescott reuniting with a new Ghostface killer as she tries to protect her family from terror.

The first look at the film features Neve Campbell, now 52, alongside her daughter Tatum (played by Isabel May), who bears the name of Campbell's best friend Rose McGowan, murdered in the original "Scream." The trailer also stars Joel McHale as Sidney's husband Mark and Courtene Cox reprising her role as Gale Weathers.

The plot revolves around a new Ghostface killer terrorizing Woodsboro, with Sidney forced to face her darkest fears when her daughter becomes the next target. Campbell will once again play Sidney Prescott, who has created a new life for herself in the town where she first encountered horror.

A familiar voice from the original "Scream" can be heard at the end of the trailer - Matthew Lillard's Stu Macher. The character was one of two killers alongside Billy Loomis (Skeet Ulrich) in the first film, and his return has been highly anticipated by fans.

Lillard shared a video on Instagram where he teased his return to the franchise with a handwritten note featuring one of his character's last lines from the original "Scream." However, he expressed nervousness about stepping back into Stu, fearing that it could affect how people perceive him in the role.

The trailer has been met with excitement from fans, who are eager to see Neve Campbell reprise her iconic role as Sidney Prescott. Meanwhile, Courteney Cox's Gale Weathers and David Arquette's Dewey Riley will also return to the franchise, despite their characters being killed off in previous films.

"Scream 7" marks "Scream" creator Kevin Williamson's first time directing, following the death of original director Wes Craven in 2015. The film is set to hit theaters on February 27.

OMG, I'm literally so hyped for Scream 7!!! 🤯😱 I've been waiting for this for ages and it's amazing that they're bringing back Neve Campbell as Sidney Prescott - she's still got that iconic look going on 💁‍♀️🎃! And can we talk about how cool is it to see Stu Macher (Matthew Lillard) making a comeback? 🤪 I loved his character in the original and I'm so down for more of his awkwardness 😂. But seriously, it's great that they're including some old cast members like Courteney Cox and David Arquette too - it feels like we're getting some closure after all those deaths 🙏. The trailer is giving me major horror vibes 🎥 and I'm counting down the days till February 27 🕰️ Can't wait to see how they all come together in this new installment! 👻

I'm excited that Neve Campbell is back as Sidney Prescott, she's iconic! 🤯 I love how they've cast her daughter Tatum, it's a nice touch. But, I gotta fact-check the part about Rose McGowan... didn't she actually pass away in 2011? 🤔 I hope that doesn't affect the film too much.

I'm also wondering if Matthew Lillard is really as nervous about reprising his role as Stu Macher... sounds like a bit of a publicity stunt to me. 😂 Still, it's great to see some familiar faces from the original "Scream" making a comeback.

I've got to say, I'm kinda curious to see how they're gonna bring this franchise back after all these years... nearly three decades is a long time! 🕰️

🎃️ OMG u guys!!! The new Scream trailer just dropped & I'm FREAKING OUT!!! 💥 Neve Campbell looks amazing as Sidney Prescott at 52! 🙌 Isabel May, Tatum's daughter, looks so cute alongside her mom 👩‍👧. But honestly, who doesn't love a good ol' Scream? 😂 The return of Stu Macher (Matthew Lillard) is the cherry on top 🍰! Fingers crossed for an epic 7th installment! 💪

I'm hyped for Scream 7!!! 😆 Neve Campbell's back as Sidney Prescott and I love that they're bringing back the OG cast like Courteney Cox's Gale Weathers and David Arquette's Dewey Riley 🤩 It's gonna be crazy to see what new terror they've got in store for us. And oh man, Matthew Lillard's return as Stu Macher is giving me all the feels! 😍 I'm a little nervous about how he'll step back into the role but I trust the filmmakers to do it justice. Bring on February 27 and let's get ready to scream our heads off!!! 💥

Omg I'm like so excited for Scream 7!!! 🤩🎃️ I love Neve Campbell and it's been ages since we've seen her as Sidney Prescott! 😊 My favorite part is when Stu Macher shows up in the trailer, I forgot how cool he was back then! 😎 Matthew Lillard seemed a bit nervous about coming back to his role though, that's kinda sweet. 🤗 Does anyone know if they'll be adding any new plot twists or surprises this time around? 🤔 I need more info before I can even think about going to the movies! 💁‍♀️

I'm so stoked for Scream 7! I've been waiting for this moment since the first movie came out and I gotta say, Neve Campbell's still got it 💁‍♀️🔪. The new trailer looks so intense, I can already feel the suspense building up. I love how they're bringing back some of the original cast members too, like Courteney Cox and David Arquette 🙌. Matthew Lillard's return as Stu Macher has me hyped - it's gonna be crazy to see him reprise that role. And can we talk about how Sidney's daughter is named after Rose McGowan? That's so sad 😔. Anyway, I'm super excited for Scream 7 and I hope it delivers on the horror and suspense 🎃👻.

🤗 oh girl I'm so hyped for Scream 7!!! 🎃️ Neve Campbell is gonna bring Sidney Prescott back to life and it's like the whole town of Woodsboro is getting a second chance at redemption 💕 I love how they're bringing back some familiar faces too, Matthew Lillard's return as Stu Macher has me so nervous but also super excited 😬 It's like we're all being dropped back into this crazy horror world and I am HERE. FOR. IT 🎥

I'm low-key hyped for Scream 7 🤯! I mean, it's been forever since we last saw Sidney Prescott, and Neve Campbell is still bringing the heat at 52 💁‍♀️. The fact that they're bringing back some of the OG cast members like Courteney Cox and David Arquette is giving me all the nostalgia feels 📚. I'm also intrigued by this new Ghostface killer - who's gonna be the one to finally take down Sidney? 😬 Matthew Lillard's return as Stu Macher is a great touch, too... can't wait to see how he handles stepping back into that iconic role 🤔. The plot looks pretty intense, and I'm excited to dive in on February 27 👍!

man... s cream 7 trailer came out and it's like they're trying too hard... neve campbell looks so much older than her character... like she's going through the motions or something 🤔😒. and what's up with tatum's name? it's a dead giveaway that rose mcgowan was a real person and not just some friend of campbell's... feels kinda insensitive 💀. also, courtene cox is still playing gale weathers? she died off in the last film 🤷‍♀️. overall, i'm just so meh about this whole thing 🎃👎

idk why people are hyped for this lol 🤷‍♂️ scream 7 is just gonna be more of the same old formulaic horror stuff that's been done a million times. neve campbell can't save the franchise at this point, she's not getting any younger and her character's been dead for years in the storyline... Tatum may be trying to fill rose mcgowan's shoes but it's just gonna feel like we're watching an older version of a different movie 🎥

OMG 🤩 I'm literally so hyped for Scream 7!!! 😍 It's crazy that Neve Campbell's Sidney Prescott is back, especially with her daughter Tatum getting all grown up and into some serious trouble 😱. And can we talk about how cool it is to see Matthew Lillard as Stu Macher again? 🤣 I mean, the OG "Do you like scary movies?" line is still giving me chills 💀. The fact that they're bringing back the whole gang from the original and some of the other returning cast members is just pure magic ✨. I'm all about a good ol' fashioned horror flick, and this one's got all the ingredients 🍿💪. Can't wait to see it on Feb 27! 🎥

oh man i'm so hyped for scream 7 🤩 finally getting a new ghostface killer and neve campbell as sidney Prescott again 😍 that's some classic horror vibes i've been waiting for years for stu macher to return, matrix lillard does him justice 🎥 can't wait to see what else gore is gonna do with this franchise

Man, I'm thinking, have you guys noticed how this movie is just a perfect example of Hollywood's ability to revive and reboot classics? It's like they're trying to recreate the magic of the '90s all over again. But let's be real, what does it say about our society that we're so hungry for nostalgia? Are we really just looking to escape reality by revisiting old fears and anxieties? I mean, Sidney Prescott is a symbol of female empowerment, but also a product of a patriarchal system that perpetuates violence against women. And now she's got a new killer to deal with? It's like the cycle of trauma just keeps on repeating itself.

🎃💀 I'm literally so hyped for this trailer!!! Neve Campbell as Sidney Prescott is still giving me all the feels!! 🤩 I remember watching the first Scream movie with my friends and we were all screaming (no pun intended) like crazy! It's crazy to think that nearly three decades have passed since then. And can we talk about how Tatum is named after Rose McGowan? That's just so beautiful, especially given what happened to her in the original film. I'm also loving the return of Gale Weathers and Dewey Riley - it feels like no time has passed at all! 🎥 The fact that Matthew Lillard is back as Stu Macher is giving me major nostalgia vibes too... this trailer just had everything!

OMG, I'm literally SHAKING 🤯 over this Scream 7 trailer!!! It's like, Neve Campbell is back and better than ever, 52 and slaying the game 💁‍♀️! And Isabel May as her daughter? That's a whole new level of suspenseful 👻. But what I'm most hyped about is Matthew Lillard's return as Stu Macher 🤔 - that line at the end gave me CHILLS 😱! And can we talk about how iconic this franchise has become over the years? From Woodsboro to Sidney Prescott, it's like they're bringing back all the memories 🔥. Bring on February 27 and get ready for some serious scares 😱💀

OMG I'm SOOO excited for Scream 7!!! 😍🎃️ Neve Campbell is literally iconic as Sidney Prescott and I've been waiting for this moment for YEARS! 🤯 Her daughter Tatum looks so cute in the trailer and I love how they're carrying on the Woodsboro horror franchise with new twists. The return of Stu Macher (Matthew Lillard) has me SHAKING 😂 and can't wait to see Courteney Cox's Gale Weathers back on screen! 📺 David Arquette's Dewey Riley is also giving me LIFE 💁‍♀️ And February 27 can't come soon enough, I'm gonna be screaming (pun intended) at the cinema with all my friends! 😆

Man, it's crazy how far back Scream goes! I mean, I'm loving the nostalgia vibes and all, but can we talk about how some of these actors are getting a little too old for this? Neve Campbell is 52 now, that's wild... 😲 I remember watching the first one with my friends back in high school, and now she's playing her iconic character again. And yeah, Tatum (played by Isabel May) has Rose McGowan's name, which is just so sad. It feels like this whole franchise is being revived out of a sense of obligation rather than any real need for another movie.

And what's up with Matthew Lillard's return? I'm all for it, but can we talk about how weird it is that he's worried people might judge him for coming back as Stu Macher? Like, dude, you're not the same guy anymore! You've had decades to grow and evolve as an actor. It's gonna be cool to see him bring a new spin to this character.

The trailer does look pretty intense, though... and I'm hyped for Courteney Cox and David Arquette to come back as Gale Weathers and Dewey Riley. They're like the OGs of the franchise! But can we also talk about how some of these actors are getting a little too comfortable with rehashing their old roles? 🤔

Ugh, I'm still trying to get used to the new YouTube layout... anyway, back to Scream 7 🙄. I mean, it's great that they're bringing back some of the original cast members, but come on, 52? Neve Campbell is aging fast 💁‍♀️! And don't even get me started on how many times we've seen this plot revolve around a new Ghostface killer... can't they mix it up a bit?

I'm still hyped for Matthew Lillard's return as Stu Macher, though 😏. He's one of the most iconic villains from the original Scream. But seriously, who thought it was a good idea to kill off Gale Weathers and Dewey Riley in previous films only to bring them back again? 🤔 It feels like they're just trying to milk the franchise for all it's worth.

Still, I guess I'll have to see how this one plays out... fingers crossed they can make it feel fresh 😊.

I'm more stoked about those new coffee shops that just opened up downtown 🤩, you know? I mean, have you tried their cold brew? It's like a party in your cup! But anyway, back to "Scream 7"... I love how they're bringing back some of the original cast members. Courteney Cox is gonna bring so much energy as Gale Weathers. And can we talk about Neve Campbell for a sec? She's still got that iconic Sidney Prescott vibe going on 💁‍♀️. I'm a bit curious about this new Ghostface killer, though... is it a copycat or something entirely different?
