I Do review – immersive hotel drama as wonderful as a real wedding day

"I Do" is an immersive hotel drama that lays bare the messy, emotional world of a wedding day, turning the familiar tropes into something deeply moving. Created by Daphna Attias and Terry O'Donovan, this site-specific show captures the final 10 minutes before Georgie and Tunde tie the knot, transporting the audience to six different rooms, each with its own unique scenario.

The production is both a voyeuristic exercise in humor and a deeply intimate exploration of anguish and insecurity. The set design by Jenny Hayton perfectly captures the juxtaposition of corporate kitsch and personal detritus, from rose petals scattered on beds to TCP in the bathroom.

The performances are searing, with each character's emotions evolving through subtle looks between them, touches, and tiny shifts in expression. The direction is immaculate, allowing for stillness as emotions unfold at their own pace.

As the story gathers shape, it becomes clear that almost every character has a place in this world by the end of the show. It's a big, heart-wrenching, ridiculous, and wonderful exploration of love, regret, and human connection.

The only slightly corny element is the returning cleaner, who enters rooms in reverse, but even he brings a surreal charm to the proceedings. Overall, "I Do" is an unforgettable theatrical experience that will leave you invested in its characters and their stories, much like any real wedding day.

The show's site-specific format allows for a unique, immersive experience, with each room bringing a new scenario to the table. From the best man's same-sex passion to the bride's "call it all off" nerves, every moment is expertly woven into the narrative.

At its core, "I Do" is a love letter to the messy, imperfect beauty of human relationships. It's a show that will make you laugh, cry, and root for its characters as they navigate the complexities of love and loss.

OMG 🤩🎭 this hotel drama sounds SO 💖💕 relatable ! 🤗 i mean who hasn't had moments where they just wanna call it all off 😂🚫 or have a major meltdown in front of their partner 😩😓? 🤯 i love how it explores the imperfections of human relationships 🌈💔 and makes you laugh, cry, and root for the characters 🏠👀! 👍

I gotta say, this whole immersive hotel drama thingy has me intrigued 😐... but I'm not sure if it's just another overhyped fad 🤔. I mean, "oh look, we've got 6 rooms with different scenarios" – that sounds like a lot of empty hype to me 🎟️. Don't get me wrong, the performances and direction do sound top-notch 👏... but how original is it really? Is this just a more expensive, fancy version of a play I've seen before 🤔? And those "surprising" moments where every character has a place in the world? Come on, that's just storytelling 101 📚. Still, I guess if you're into that sorta thing, "I Do" might be worth a look... but I'm gonna need some convincing 💁‍♀️

🤩 I just watched this new immersive hotel drama "I Do" and it was LIFE.CHANGING 🌊 The way they turned those familiar wedding day tropes into something so raw and emotional is just genius 💡 And can we talk about the performances? 😍 Those actors were giving me all the feels with their subtle looks and expressions, it was like I was right there in those rooms with them 🤫 The set design was on point too, it was like stepping into a real wedding day ( minus the happiness 😂). But what really got me was how each character's story was woven into the narrative, even the cleaner dude who came in at the end and just added this quirky charm to the whole thing 🎉 Overall, I'm so here for "I Do" and I think it's a must-see for anyone who loves theatre or just great storytelling in general 📚

omg u guys i just watched this new immersive hotel drama called I Do and it's literally so good!!! 😍 the way the production design captures the contrast between corporate and personal is everything 💯 and the performances? wow, so searing and nuanced 👀 the set design has rose petals on beds and TCP in the bathroom like what even 🤣 anyway i love how every character has a place in this world by the end of the show it's all about human connection and messy relationships ❤️ the only thing that felt slightly cheesy was the cleaner, but he's still so charming 😊 10/10 would watch again 👏

You know what struck me about this whole thing? How it's all just one big mess, right? Like, these people are trying to get married, but there's drama everywhere. And we're watching it from these 'six different rooms', but I think that's kinda the point - life isn't all neatly divided into different spaces or emotions. It's this messy jumble of feelings and thoughts and regrets. And yet, that's what makes it so beautiful? 🤯 The way they capture the absurdity and the beauty in those moments... it's just so human.

💡 I loved how it showed the imperfections on a special day like a wedding. The performances were insane, felt so real 🤯. And omg, those rose petals scattered all over the place? 💐 added this whole new level to the set design. But what really got me was the ending, made me think about my own relationships and how messy they can be 😂💔

🌿 just watched "I Do" and I'm still reeling from the experience 🤯! The way it tackles the imperfections of real life on the wedding day was so relatable, it's like they were peeking into my own friends' lives 😂. And oh my goodness, the performances? Chills every time 💀. The way the characters' emotions unfold is just masterfully done 🎭. I loved how it showed that even the smallest moments (like a clean bathroom) can reveal so much about who we are as people 🚽. It's like they're saying, "Love is messy, and life is beautiful" 💕. I'm already counting down to their next show 🎟️!

omg u gotta see this hotel drama "i do" it's like a masterclass in emotional storytelling 🤯 each room is a different scenario but they all kinda tie together in the end i loved how the set design captured that weird corporate-kitsch vibe that happens at weddings anyway the performances were insane, especially the way the characters would just look at each other and u could feel the tension building up to the wedding it's like u're right there with them on their big day 💕 u gotta see this show it'll give u all the feels!

🤔 I mean, think about it - this immersive hotel drama "I Do" is basically like how our politicians are always saying we're a 'big, beautiful' country... but really, isn't that just a euphemism for 'we've got our differences, but let's all just get along'? 🤷‍♂️ I mean, the show's all about how even on the most joyful moments like weddings, there's still room for awkwardness and insecurity. It's like politicians saying we can agree to disagree, but really they're just trying to outmaneuver each other in the system. 💼 And don't even get me started on that cleaner dude... he's like the ultimate symbol of how some people are just quietly working behind the scenes while everyone else is making all the noise. 😂 What do you guys think?

OMG, I just binged this hotel drama 'I Do' 🤩 and it was SOOO good! The set design is insane, all those corporate kitsch vibes in one place 😂 but also so poignant. The acting is top notch, every little expression and touch says a lot about the characters. I loved how the show humanized everyone, even the cleaner guy 😂 who's just trying to do his job. It's all about love, regret, and connections - it made me feel like I was actually there on that wedding day 🎉. The only thing that bugged me a bit was the "call it all off" scene, felt a tad corny 🤔 but overall, 10/10 would recommend 👍
