6 deaths outside in NYC being investigated for links to the extreme cold

I'm still shaking my head over this cold snap... I mean, we've had some bad winters before, but this one takes the cake 🥧😱. Six people dead? It's just crazy! You'd think we'd have better systems in place to keep our most vulnerable citizens safe during a crisis like this. I'm not trying to be harsh, but... have we learned nothing from the polar vortex a few years ago? Or all those winters when it was freezing and we had to dig ourselves out of snowdrifts 🌨️❄️. What's the plan here? Are we just gonna rely on social services workers to check in on people who need help? It seems like we're running a bit behind the curve, if you ask me 🤔💨

Ugh, this cold snap is just brutal... 😩 I'm so sorry for the families who lost loved ones to it. It's crazy that we even have to worry about our neighbors being left out on the streets during the winter months. I mean, I know we've come a long way in terms of social services and awareness, but it still feels like a punch to the gut when you see people dying from hypothermia or whatever.

I'm glad Mayor Mamdani is taking action and trying to get more resources out there, but at the same time... 🤔 have we really learned anything from past winters? Like, didn't we have some pretty bad snowstorms back in the 90s? And what about all those homeless people who've been living on our streets for years? It feels like we're always reacting to these crises rather than proactively addressing the root causes.

Anyway, I hope the medical examiner's office can figure out what happened and maybe it'll help us learn something new. 🤷‍♂️ But seriously, can't we do better than this? 🙏

I'm still trying to process these tragic losses 🤕... 6 lives lost in the NYC cold spell? That's just heartbreaking. I feel so bad for the guy who got left out on that Queens street, no one even stopped to check on him before he hit rock bottom 😔. It's crazy how quickly you can go from being alive to gone when the temperatures drop like that. And now they're saying 5 more people died after being found outside? What's going on with our city's homeless crisis? We need better solutions, not just a hotline number 📞...
