White Sox trade Luis Robert Jr. to the Mets

The Chicago White Sox have made a move that will likely alter the course of their season, trading away center fielder Luis Robert Jr. to the New York Mets in exchange for infielder Luisangel Acuna and right-hander Truman Pauley.

Robert, 28, was the last piece of a trade puzzle left over from the previous regime, with general manager Chris Getz inheriting him from the previous GM. The outfielder had been in constant rumors of being dealt over the past two seasons and even expressed surprise at not being traded before Opening Day last year.

Despite his incredible 2023 season, which saw him hit 38 home runs with a .857 OPS, Robert's career has been derailed by injuries. In his last two seasons, he has slashed just .223/.288/.372 with 28 homers.

Getz picked up the $20 million option on Robert's contract this offseason and was still getting calls from other teams about trading him. With the Mets willing to take on that salary in exchange for Acuna and Pauley, it appears Getz felt he got a good deal.

Acuna is the younger brother of Ronald Acuna Jr., who won the National League MVP award last season. The 23-year-old infielder was playing in the Venezuelan Winter League when he was sent to Chicago.

Pauley, 22, was drafted by the Mets in the 12th round of the 2025 draft and is expected to make his major league debut this season.

Robert's departure leaves a significant void in the White Sox outfield, which will need to be filled quickly. The team signed several free agents over the offseason but may now have to rely on younger players to step up.

๐Ÿค” idk why Getz even gave away on Robert... 28 yrs old and already derailed by injuries lol what's next? ๐Ÿ™„ still got a lot of talent in that org tho, hope Acuna can fill the void ๐Ÿคž

So the White Sox just traded away Luis Robert Jr. like that ๐Ÿคฏ... I mean, I get it, injuries are a thing and all, but 38 home runs last season? That's some crazy power for a guy who's been derailed by injuries lately. Anyways, I guess Chris Getz saw an opportunity to offload that salary and bring in some fresh blood with Acuna and Pauley. But now they've gotta find someone to fill the void in RF... it's gonna be interesting to see how this plays out. The young guns might step up and make a difference ๐Ÿ’ช, or maybe not ๐Ÿ˜. One thing's for sure, it's gonna be a wild ride watching the White Sox try to make a playoff push without Robert.

๐Ÿค” so the whitesox are basically giving up on robert, i mean, his injuries were a big concern and he was only having 1 good year... ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ did getz think this was a good move? ๐Ÿค‘ they're trading away luis robert for some younger guys who might not even be ready to play in the majors yet ๐ŸŽฏ luisangel acuna is still pretty young and truman pauley is like 22... ๐Ÿค“ how are they gonna step up right now and help the team? ๐Ÿค”

OMG, I'm shocked!!! ๐Ÿ˜ฑ They're literally trading away Luis Robert Jr for less than half his value? ๐Ÿคฏ I mean, I get it, injuries are a thing and he's not the same player he was in 2023, but still... 20 million dollars is a lot to give up on someone who's been banged up. And now they're relying on these two young players to fill the void? ๐Ÿ”ฎ It's like playing Russian roulette out there. I wish Getz had held onto Robert for one more year or even waited till next season to trade him. This move is gonna be a huge headache for the Sox ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ

Umm, what do you guys think about this trade? I mean, on one hand, Luis Robert Jr was having some major injuries and wasn't living up to his 2023 form ๐Ÿค”. But still, he's a superstar player and the Sox are losing out big time. It feels like Chris Getz got taken advantage of. On the other side, Acuna sounds like a talented young player... I'm curious to see how he'll do in Chicago. The question is, what was Getz thinking? Did the Mets offer too much or did they just want him outta there? ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ

Just saw that Chicago traded Luis Robert Jr and it sucks ๐Ÿ˜”. He had one incredible season last year, but injuries kept him down. Guess Chris Getz got a good deal for his 20 mil salary ๐Ÿค‘. Now the Sox gotta find someone to fill that hole in the outfield ASAP ๐Ÿ”ช

I donโ€™t usually comment but I think itโ€™s weird that they traded away Luis Robert Jr. despite him having an amazing season last year. He was like a superstar for the Sox, hit 38 homers and all that ๐Ÿคฏ...now he's off to the Mets in exchange for these other guys. I mean, what did the White Sox get exactly? A young kid who might not even be ready for the big leagues yet? And a guy who hasnโ€™t even had his first MLB game...it doesn't add up ๐Ÿ˜.

omg, what's goin' on with Luis Robert Jr.? I mean, I know he's been injured a lot and stuff, but 20 mil is a lot of cash for some dude who can't stay healthy ๐Ÿค‘. And the Mets are like "yeah, we'll take it" ๐Ÿค”? Maybe Chris Getz just wanted to rebuild or something? The White Sox were already signIN' some big free agents over the offseason, I guess you gotta pay the piper now. Acuna and Pauley seem cool though, I've heard good things about those guys ๐Ÿ‘. But yeah, this trade is gonna be a game changer for Chicago... not in a good way ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™€๏ธ.

[Image of a sad face with a baseball bat in hand](๐Ÿ˜”๐ŸŸ๏ธ) Oh noooo! Luis Robert Jr.'s departure is gonna suck for White Sox ๐Ÿค•. They were really counting on him to bring that power and speed to the outfield ๐Ÿ’ฅ. Now they gotta rely on the young guns ๐ŸŒž. Good luck with that, Sox! idk about dis trade... it sounds like Getz is tryin' 2 cover his own backdoor ๐Ÿค‘ ... Acuna's a solid player, don't get me wrong, but he's not Luis Robert Jr. 38 homers and .857 OPS? you just can't replace that with some rookie infielder ๐Ÿค” and a minor league pitcher... Pauley might be alright in the future, but now?! ๐ŸŽฏ ... I think Getz is tryin' to make a move 2 avoid a bad season, but it's gonna take some magic for those youngins 2 step up quickly ๐Ÿคž

lol what's up with these trades? it's like they're trying to blow up their teams! Luis Robert Jr. is having a super bad season, gets traded and suddenly another guy (Luisangel Acuna) who's basically the same skill level but cheaper gets sent his way . meanwhile Truman Pauley just shows up out of nowhere and gets picked up for $20 million ๐Ÿค‘ it's like a real-life video game where u just gotta keep throwing different players at the problem till something sticks! ๐Ÿ˜‚

Omg u gotta think about what they did there ๐Ÿคฏ They traded away Luis Robert Jr who's supposed to be a game changer for Luisangel Acuna and Truman Pauley which is like, a decent trade I guess? ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ Getz got a good deal tho since the Mets are taking on that huge contract salary ๐Ÿ’ธ

But honestly, it's gonna be tough for the Sox without Robert in the outfield ๐Ÿ˜• He was having an amazing 2023 season and now they gotta rely on younger players to fill the gap ๐Ÿ‘€ Acuna is all hype tho, but Pauley is like a wild card ๐Ÿค” Does he live up to the hype? We'll see! ๐Ÿ”ฎ

OMG, what a crazy move by the Sox!!! ๐Ÿคฏ I'm low-key sad for Luis Robert Jr tho, he's been through so much with injuries ๐Ÿ˜”. I get it tho, they gotta make moves to rebuild, right? ๐Ÿ’ช But now they're left with this huge hole in the outfield... ๐ŸŒ‘ and Acuna's like a total game-changer on offense! ๐Ÿ”ฅ Pauley seems cool too, i mean who doesn't love a young pitcher making their MLB debut? ๐ŸŽ‰ Can't wait to see how it all plays out! ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

omg u guys can't believe what just happened with luis robert jr ๐Ÿคฏ he's literally the last piece of the puzzle that was supposed to make the white sox a contender and now he's gone to nyc ๐Ÿ’” i'm lowkey surprised getz thought he could get away with keeping him but i guess they got a good deal for acuna & pauley, lol. anyhoo, robert's career was already being derailed by injuries so it's not like this is the end of the world but still, that outfield just got way more interesting ๐Ÿค”

OMG I'm so confused about dis trade lol ๐Ÿคฏ! Chicago just gave away Luis Robert Jr for some youngins that r still tryna make it in da league ๐ŸŒŸ. Acuna bro is like a superstar on his fam's team and he's only 23 ๐Ÿคฉ! But, I gotta feel 4 Getz cuz he got a good deal lol ๐Ÿ’ธ. The Sox are gonna have to find some new outfielders ASAP or they'll be stuck w/ .223 batting avg ๐Ÿ“‰...anywayz, it's always crazy trade season in MLB ๐Ÿ˜‚

Man... I'm like really thinking about this trade and it got me pondering on how we view value in sports, you know? Like, what's worth more? A talented player who's been injured a lot or a young kid who's just starting to develop his skills? ๐Ÿค” And then there's the question of loyalty and commitment... like, did Robert really want to stay with the White Sox or was he just stuck in a contract? ๐Ÿ’ธ It's all about perspective, right?

And it makes me think about how our lives aren't that different from a sports team's roster. We get traded around, we get injured, we have to adapt and make new moves. But sometimes, despite what happens on the outside, our inner selves still stay connected to where we came from. ๐Ÿ’–

OMG ๐Ÿคฏ I'm SHOOK ๐Ÿ’ฅ about this trade!!! Luis Robert Jr is like my GOAT ๐Ÿ˜ and I don't know how the Sox will fill that void in CF ๐Ÿค”. I mean, he was having an amazing 2023 season and now they're just trading him away ๐Ÿค‘. Getz got a good deal tho ๐Ÿ‘, I guess you could say he outsmarted everyone ๐Ÿค“. But Acuna is a BIG LOSS ๐Ÿค•, his fam has that famous hitting gene ๐Ÿ”ฅ. And Pauley is like the next big thing ๐Ÿ˜Ž, but I still gotta see how he does on the field ๐ŸŽฏ. This trade is gonna affect my fantasy team so much ๐Ÿ˜ฉ, guess I'll just have to bench my White Sox players for a bit โšพ๏ธ

omg can't believe they traded luis robert Jr ๐Ÿคฏ he was literally their last hope for the season now i'm worried about what's gonna happen to that outfield tho ๐ŸŒณ๐Ÿ’” got to feel bad for robert too, been dealing with those injuries for years ๐Ÿ˜ž

๐Ÿค” I think Getz made a smart move, he was gonna lose Robert for nothing anyway with all these injury concerns ๐Ÿค•, and Acuna seems like a solid upside prospect, might be able to fill some of that void in the outfield ๐Ÿ’ช. But yeah, it's def sad for White Sox fans, they were really counting on him this season ๐Ÿ˜”...
