this whole thing is kinda heavy... i mean i get why ppl are upset about ice and all but it feels like we're just shouting at each other instead of trying to actually fix things. dont get me wrong, these protests and the celebs speaking out can be super inspiring but i wish we could see some actual concrete change happening on the ground. its not like we cant do better than this
just got outta Park City and I'm still reeling from that protest can't believe how passionate those actors are about making a change Natasha Lyonne's message hit close to home for me - we gotta stand up against hate, it's not okay to be silent on these issues Elijah Wood said it best when he compared Sundance's mission to the opposite of what ICE is all about - it's like they're two sides of the same coin Natalie Portman's pins spoke volumes, and I love how she called out Trump's admin for their hate-fueled policies we need more people using their platforms to make a difference, not just talking about it
I feel like some celebs are using their platforms to speak out against systemic injustice & it's actually kinda inspiring However, I'm also worried about the pressure on them to make statements – is it making a difference or just creating more noise? As a parent, it's hard not to worry about the world my kids will grow up in Can we really say that all these voices are being heard by those in power? The fact that Natalie Portman wore pins with "ICE out" on them is super empowering but what can ordinary people do to make a change?
ICE is like super obvious problem, but people keep sayin it's not that easy to change . I mean, we got actors comin out every day, talkin about justice and equality, but what's the actual plan? We all wanna be anti-ICE, but do we really know how to make a difference? They keep sayin the system is broken, but what if the problem ain't the system, it's us?
i just saw this thread and gotta say its super sad what happened at sundance...ICE should def do something about this hate & violence they're causing these actors using their platform 2 speak out 4 change is exactly what we need more of, especially in times like these natashalyonne & elijahwood are so brave 2 speak up about this, its not just about the lives lost but also about all the ppl affected by ICE's policies natalieportman & oliviawilde r also doing some amazing work here we need more people like them using their voices 4 good
