Twitter Co-founder Jack Dorsey funds reboot of popular defunct Vine video-sharing app

Twitter Co-founder Jack Dorsey is Behind the Revival of the Beloved Defunct App Vine.

Millennials, if you recall this iconic video-sharing platform, then you'll be happy to know that Vine is back - albeit with a modern twist. The short-form video app was a sensation in its heyday before it shut down in 2017. This time around, however, it's not the same old Vine we all knew and loved.

The revamped version of Vine is called diVine, and while it retains the original spirit, it has evolved to meet the changing digital landscape. A significant update to the app was made possible by a generous donation from none other than Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey. The funds were provided through his nonprofit "and Other Stuff."

Thanks to this financial boost, users can now access over 100,000 archived Vine videos - giving them a nostalgic dose of the good old days. Moreover, they'll also have the opportunity to upload and share their own new content.

The revival has even sparked concerns about artificial intelligence (AI) in the digital world. In response, diVine will flag any video that uses generative AI and prevent its posting - a move aimed at preserving users' safety online.

It's been an exciting turn of events for Vine enthusiasts, who can now relive their favorite nostalgic moments or create new content to share with others. With Jack Dorsey's backing, the future looks bright for diVine.

omg i'm so down for this! vine was like the OG social media app for me and my friends back in the day πŸ€―πŸ’» it's crazy to think it's making a comeback with all these new features and safety measures. i mean, who wouldn't want to upload their own vids and share them with others? but at the same time, the fact that they're flagging vids with AI is kinda cool - like, let's keep things real online, you know? πŸ€–πŸ’― anyhoo, can't wait to check out diVine and see what kind of content creators come up with πŸ’Έ

OMG u guys 🀯 i'm so down for vine's revival! i mean i know some ppl might be salty about it coming back as a new app but let's be real, jack dorsey's nonprofit donated a bunch of cash to make it happen 😊 and now we get to relive the good old days with all those classic vids πŸ“Ή plus, diVine's got this cool AI thing that flags videos so we can stay safe online πŸ’» anyway, i'm def gonna be checking out all these archived vids and maybe even creating some new ones myself πŸŽ₯

OMG, I'm totally stoked that Vine is back 🀩! I mean, who didn't love those 6-second vids? The fact that Jack Dorsey is behind it all is pretty lit πŸ”₯. Can you imagine getting to see all those old vids again? It's like a blast from the past πŸ•°οΈ! But for real though, the new diVine app has some cool updates. I love that they're being cautious with AI and flagging videos that use it - safety first, right? πŸ’― Now, I'm hyped to create my own content and share it with the world πŸ“ΈπŸ’». Bring on the nostalgia vibes and the future of short-form vids! πŸ˜†

omg u guys vine is back!! 🀩 i remember using it back in high school and making all these super cringy vids lol. but for real tho, its so cool that jack dorsey is behind this revival of the app! πŸ’Έ he donated like a ton of money through his non-profit and now we can access all those archived vids from before. and now ppl can even make new content!! πŸ€³β€β™€οΈ i think its dope how they're trying to keep users safe online with that AI thingy tho... gotta protect the internet, right? πŸ’»

I'm loving this comeback! πŸ’₯ I mean, it's not just about bringing back a classic app, but also exploring how AI is gonna change the game πŸ€–. Flagging out vids that use generative AI? That's some next-level thinking 😊. It shows that diVine is all about user safety online, and that's something we can all get behind πŸ‘. Plus, Jack Dorsey's donation was super generous, so kudos to him for being a part of this revival πŸ’–. Can't wait to see what kind of fresh content creators come out of the woodwork πŸŽ‰!

OMG, I'm so down for this 🀩! I grew up on Vine and used to spend hours watching videos of @shakiratweets (RIP) and all my fave creators πŸ˜‚. It's amazing that Jack Dorsey is bringing it back with a modern twist - the archival content is going to be lit πŸ”₯. I'm definitely gonna check out diVine and see what all the fuss is about πŸ€”. AI concerns are valid tho, gotta make sure we're keeping our online safety intact πŸ’―. Bring on the nostalgic vibes and new vids, can't wait! πŸ˜†

lol what's up with this revival πŸ€”? I mean I'm stoked that old Vines are back and all, but it feels like we've been down that road before... remember when Instagram was just a copy of Snapchat? πŸ˜‚ anyway, I love the fact that diVine is keeping the original vibe while still bringing it into the 21st century. The AI thing tho, gotta respect their move - safety first, right? πŸ™ also, can't wait to see what kinda crazy vids we get from users now... and btw, who's gonna keep those 100k+ archived Vines fresh for us? 🀯

I'm telling you, this is some suspicious stuff πŸ€‘. I mean, think about it - Jack Dorsey, Twitter co-founder, just so happens to donate a bunch of cash to Vine through his non-profit... and then BAM! The app comes back online with a modern twist? It sounds like a setup to me 😏. And what's with the generative AI thing? They're trying to control our content from behind the scenes πŸ’». Mark my words, diVine is just a pawn in a much bigger game 🎲. We need to keep an eye on this one πŸ‘€.

lol what a great comeback for Vine πŸ™ŒπŸ’₯ i mean who would've thought it'd be revived like that? anyway its gonna be sick to see all those old vids again and now new people can create their own content too πŸ‘πŸ’¬

omg 🀯 just found out that vine is back and i'm totally stoked!!! πŸ˜† i remember using it all the time in school πŸ“š and sharing those funny vids with my friends 🀣 now we can relive those good times or make new ones πŸŽ₯πŸ’» and the fact that jack dorsey is backing this project is just amazing πŸ’• he's not only a twitter co-founder but also a philanthropist through his nonprofit - that's what i love about this revival! πŸ’–

I gotta say, I'm low-key stoked about Vine being back in some form! It's amazing how that platform brought so much joy and creativity to our lives, even if it was just a 6-second clip at a time 🀣. The fact that Jack Dorsey is backing this revival with his nonprofit is pretty cool - it shows he's still got a soft spot for the app and its fans.

I'm also kinda excited about the new features they're adding, like the archival content and user-generated videos! It'll be awesome to see what kind of fresh content people come up with. And I love that diVine is taking steps to address AI concerns - it's all about finding that balance between innovation and online safety.

One thing I'm curious about is how they're gonna keep the app from feeling too formulaic or predictable, given its nostalgic roots. Can't wait to give it a try and see what kind of magic happens!

I'm low-key hyped that Vine is back πŸ€©πŸ“Ή! It's crazy to think that a platform we all loved and used way back in the day was on the verge of disappearing forever. The fact that Jack Dorsey stepped in with a donation to revive it is pretty cool, tbh πŸ’Έ. I'm curious to see how the new version will play out - the addition of AI detection is a good move, I guess πŸ€”. It's gonna be interesting to see what kind of content creators come up with for diVine now... maybe we'll get some fresh talent or just a bunch of people reuploading their old stuff πŸ˜‚

Man I'm loving this revival of Vine... it just goes to show you never know what's gonna come back around 🀯! It's like our lives, right? We think something is lost forever and then it pops up again in a new form. The thing with Jack Dorsey donating all that cash is pretty cool too - it shows us that even the most unexpected people can make a big impact πŸ’Έ. And yeah, I get why they're flagging those AI-generated videos... gotta protect ourselves online, you know? It's like we always have to be mindful of our own digital footprint 🌐. But honestly, I'm just stoked for all the nostalgic millennials out there who can finally relive their old Vine days πŸ˜‚. The future is bright for diVine!

Ugh, this is a huge opportunity for Twitter to milk its brand and collect more user data πŸ˜’. I'm all for reviving old apps, but can't they just focus on making their own platform better instead of trying to buy everyone's nostalgia? πŸ™„ And what's with the generative AI ban? Isn't that supposed to be a good thing? πŸ€” It's just another way for Twitter to exert control over what we post online. I'm not sure if diVine is really about giving users more freedom or just being a vanity project for Jack Dorsey's ego πŸ’β€β™‚οΈ

πŸ€” I think it's fascinating how technology can revive the past while still evolving to meet current standards. The fact that diVine is giving users access to archived content is a great way to preserve nostalgic moments for millennials who grew up with Vine. However, I'm intrigued by the introduction of AI moderation - I wonder if it will become an industry standard to flag and prevent AI-generated content in other platforms as well? πŸ€– It's also interesting that diVine's revamped version can benefit from a generous donation from Jack Dorsey, which highlights the importance of philanthropy in supporting innovative projects. πŸ’Έ

just saw this news and I gotta say its kinda trippy that vine is back 🀯 i remember using it in high school and watching hours of videos on repeat lol anyway, i think its cool that jack dorsey is funding the revival and adding all these new features to make it more user friendly. but at the same time, im a bit worried about the AI aspect - dont want any sketchy content making it into the app πŸ€– what do you guys think? should be interesting to see how it all plays out

omg can u believe vine is back?! 🀯 i was literally just talking to my friend about how much we missed this app! πŸ˜‚ so yeah, it's been revamped and has a new name 'diVine' but still that same magic πŸ’«. the part that got me excited was they're preserving all those archived vids like 100k+ and now users can upload their own content too πŸŽ₯. plus, they're being cautious with ai and flagging vids that use it - good move for user safety online πŸ‘

omg u guys can't believe vine is back!!! 🀩 i was literally talking to my friends about how much we missed that app and now it's like a dream come true...the fact that jack dorsey is behind this revival is just amazing, he's literally making the digital world a better place one update at a time πŸ’– so yeah diVine is coming with some sweet changes, especially the AI flagging feature to keep us safe online πŸ™ i'm low-key hyped for the new vids and high-key excited to see what kind of content creators come out of this...anyway can't wait to dive back into vineville and make some fresh content myself πŸ“ΈπŸ‘
