TSMC says AI demand is “endless” after record Q4 earnings

Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC), the world's top chipmaker, has declared that artificial intelligence (AI) demand shows no signs of slowing down. The company recently reported record fourth-quarter earnings and is now projecting years of sustained growth in AI-related spending.

During a call with investors, TSMC CEO C.C. Wei expressed his optimism about the AI industry, saying it's not just a trend but an "endless" growth opportunity that will continue for several years. His comments come as concerns have been raised about whether the AI industry is experiencing a bubble, with some predicting a potential downturn.

However, TSMC, which supplies chips to leading tech companies including Apple and Nvidia, has taken a more bullish stance on the future of AI. Wei claimed to have spoken directly with cloud providers, who confirmed that demand for AI-related products is genuine and not driven by speculation.

TSMC's earnings report coincided with the signing of a trade agreement between the US and Taiwan that reduces tariffs on Taiwanese goods to 15 percent. The deal aims to boost investment in the region, with TSMC planning to expand its Arizona chip fabrication facilities.

The company's record-breaking Q4 earnings and forward-looking projections have sent a positive signal about the health of the AI industry. With TSMC at the forefront of production for top tech firms, it appears that the demand for AI-related chips is not just a short-term phenomenon but a long-term trend with significant implications for the global electronics supply chain.

TSMC's confidence in the AI market has been echoed by other major players in the industry. Google CEO Sundar Pichai recently warned of "irrationality" in the AI market, while OpenAI's Sam Altman acknowledged that investors are overexcited about the potential for significant returns on investment. However, TSMC remains committed to its growth plans, with Wei stating that he believes AI will continue to drive business growth for years to come.

omg u think tsmc is gonna hit a bubble but i'm lowkey thinking they're right about ai demand!!! 1 in 10 tech companies are already investing huge in cloud services and it's only gonna get bigger 💻💸 their partnership with us & taiwan is a big deal too, more money 4 innovation = more chip sales 4 them 🤑

I'm not buying it 🤔... all these big names saying AI is here to stay and growing fast but what about when the bubble bursts? We've seen this movie before in tech - dot-com boom, followed by bust. TSMC's just trying to cash in on a trend that might not last, if you ask me 😐. Those cloud providers think they're giving some truth to AI demand, but who knows their motivations? They might just be milking the hype for all it's worth 💸. Meanwhile, investors are getting excited and throwing money around like there's no tomorrow... what happens when reality sets in? 📉

TSMC is basically saying the AI bubble isn't a bubble at all 🙄... I mean, if they're getting paid by the big tech companies to churn out more chips, that's not speculation, that's just business as usual 💸... And if cloud providers are confirming demand for these AI products, then yeah, it's legit... but can we really trust their words? 🤔... I'd need to see some actual growth and numbers to believe TSMC's claims... until then, let's not get too excited about the AI revolution 🔥

TSMC is getting ahead of itself 🤯... I mean, record earnings and all, but think about it, if demand was so high, wouldn't the bubble burst by now? 🤔 And what's with these CEOs saying AI is "endless" growth? That sounds like just that - hype 💸. I'm not convinced these companies are seeing genuine demand or if they're just caught up in the cycle of speculation. And what about when it all comes crashing down? We'll be left holding the bag 🤯

Man, I'm like totally stoked about this news 🤩! TSMC's record Q4 earnings and forward-looking projections have me feeling like the AI industry is gonna be HUGE 💥! It's not just a bubble, people are genuinely investing in this tech and it's changing the game 🔄. With TSMC at the helm of top tech firms, I'm confident that demand for AI-related chips will keep on growing 💪. And let's not forget about the trade agreement between the US and Taiwan - that's gonna give TSMC a major boost 🚀! It's time to get hyped about AI and its impact on the global electronics supply chain 🔋! #TSMC #AI #FutureIsNow

I think this is all gonna be good for us! 😁 We're finally seeing some solid growth in the tech industry and it's amazing to see companies like TSMC taking a bold stance on AI. I mean, who needs a bubble when you can just keep pushing forward? 🤖 TSMC's confidence is infectious and it's awesome that they're expanding their facilities in Arizona - now we'll get to see some real job creation happening over there! 💼

omg i'm so hyped about this news!!! TSMC's earnings report is like, a huge deal and i'm loving the CEO's confidence in the AI market 🤩!! i've been following the tech industry for ages and it's crazy to see all these major players talking about the future of AI. i mean, i've invested some money in my cousin's startup that's working on AI-powered drone tech 🚁💻, so this news is like a dream come true! also, 15% tariffs on Taiwanese goods? that's like, a huge win for TSMC and all the other Taiwanese companies 🎉. i'm thinking of starting an online store to sell some AI-related gadgets and stuff... any tips from fellow entrepreneurs out there? 😅
