British tennis star Emma Raducanu breezed into the semi-finals of the Transylvania Open with a convincing 6-0 and 6-4 win over Polish opponent Maja Chwalinska.
The first set was almost devoid of action, with Raducanu taking full advantage of her opponent's struggles to hold any serve. But the second set proved more challenging, as Chwalinska rallied from behind, breaking the British number one seed in the early stages.
However, Raducanu showed remarkable composure under pressure and broke straight back to level the sets before sealing victory on a single game.
"I played a great match from the beginning," Raducanu stated after her win, "and I was so happy to have that start." She praised Chwalinska's skills, saying, "Maja is a really tough opponent, moves so well, has great hand skills, so I'm really happy with how I overcame that challenge."
Raducanu will now face Ukranian Oleksandra Oliynykova in the semi-finals, after a 6-0 and 6-4 demolition of Chwalinska set her on course for another major success.
