Though ‘Zootopia 2’ lacks original’s bite, it’s still a fun romp - Detroit Metro Times

While Disney's Zootopia sequel may not capture the same magic as its predecessor, it still delivers a fun and entertaining ride that is sure to delight both kids and adults. In many ways, the movie feels like an extension of the original, albeit one that prioritizes chases and animal puns over nuanced storytelling.

The story picks up where the first film left off, with Judy Hopps (Ginnifer Goodwin) and Nick Wilde (Jason Bateman) now officially partners at the Zootopia Police Department. As they tackle a new case involving a pit viper, a family of billionaire lynxes, and a lost part of the city, old prejudices and fears resurface, but this time, it's not just about chasing villains – it's also about navigating gentrification, fear of the unknown, and the cold calculations of the wealthy.

While these themes are timely and important, they don't quite have the same emotional resonance as the original. The animation is still vibrant and colorful, but it lacks the depth and complexity that made the first film so memorable. The characters themselves feel more one-dimensional, too – we see a lot of the humor and heart that made Nick and Judy so lovable in the first place, but not quite enough to make this story feel like something truly special.

That being said, Zootopia 2 isn't a bad movie by any stretch. It's just a conventional animated adventure that prefers easy laughs over meaningful commentary. The script genuinely loves its characters and wants us to see them as more than just cartoon ciphers – it's heartwarming to see Judy and Nick grow and evolve in their partnership, even if the story around them doesn't quite live up to expectations.

Ultimately, Zootopia 2 feels like a setup for future adventures with these beloved characters. And who knows? Maybe Disney will find new ways to tap into that magic and make this sequel truly unforgettable. For now, though, it's just another fun romp in the world of Zootopia – one that's sure to delight kids and families, even if it doesn't quite reach the same heights as its predecessor.

🤔 I dunno, man... I mean, I was hyped for this sequel but now I'm kinda underwhelmed 🤷‍♂️. Don't get me wrong, the movie's still super fun and all that, but it feels like they're just phoning it in instead of really pushing the boundaries like they did with the first one 📉. The new themes are cool and all, but they don't feel as earned or impactful as I thought they would 💔. And yeah, the characters do feel a bit more one-dimensional this time around... 😐 still got love for Nick and Judy tho! 🤗

I'm tellin' ya, Disney's tryin' to distract us with this new Zootopia sequel thinkin' we won't notice they're pushin' more corporate-friendly themes like gentrification 🤑. It's all about makin' that big bucks and forgettin' about the real issues at hand. I mean, where's the substance? The original had heart, this one just feels like a watered-down version of itself 💧. And don't even get me started on the animation - it's still pretty, but it lacks that special somethin' that made the first film so memorable 🎥. Maybe I'm just too jaded, but I'm callin' foul on this one 😒.

🎥 I gotta say, Zootopia 2 is still a solid watch, but it feels like they're playing it safe this time around 🤔. They tackled some heavy themes like gentrification and classism, which is awesome, but it's not as if they really dug deep into them, you feel? 💸 The animation's still fire 🔥, don't get me wrong, but the story's just so... predictable 📚. I mean, we get all the laughs and feels from Nick & Judy's partnership, but that's about it 😊. Still, it's a fun ride, especially for the little ones 👧🏻, and I'm excited to see where they take this next 🎬! Maybe next time they'll bring the magic back ✨.

I feel like they're trying too hard to fit in some serious themes with the sequel 🤔. I get what Disney is going for, but sometimes you just want a fun story without all the extra baggage. The animation looks amazing though! 💫 My kid loved it, and that's all that really matters, right? 😊 But I do wish they'd brought back some of the complexity from the first film - like, what happened to the old villain? 🤷‍♀️ Still, it was a fun watch, and I'm sure we'll be seeing more adventures with Judy and Nick in the future 👍

You know what's wild 🤯? I was at this weird food truck festival last weekend and they had this crazy new flavor of vegan ice cream that was literally shaped like tiny animals... I mean, who comes up with that stuff?! 😂 And then it made me think about how much I love animal puns in movies, especially in Zootopia! 🐰😆 But honestly, have you tried that new ice cream flavor? Is it worth the hype? I'm still deciding... 💦

🤔 I gotta say, I was really hyped for this sequel but... 🤷‍♀️ it just didn't bring the same feels as the first one. Like, I get what Disney was going for with the whole gentrification thing and all, but it felt kinda half-baked to me? 😐 The jokes were still laugh-out-loud funny, don't get me wrong! 🤣 But Nick and Judy just didn't feel as fleshed out this time around. It's like they're already the OG power couple, so there wasn't much growth or development for them. 💔 Still, I love a good animated adventure and it was definitely entertaining, even if it didn't blow me away. 🎥 Maybe next one they'll get it right? 🤞

omg i'm low-key disappointed lol zootopia 2 is still soooo cute but idk if it lives up to the first one like what can be said about newton from the hyenas they literally stole the scene in this movie!!! the gentrification theme feels kinda forced though idk maybe its just me but nick and judy's banter had me DEAD the animation is still on point tho 🐰💕

im not sure about zootopia 2 lol 🤔👀 its like they r tryin to cram too many themes into one movie lol gentrification, fear of the unknown...its all good but its like they forgot how to make us laugh 😂 and feel the feels 🤗 nick & judy r still lovable tho 👫 gotta admit tho i did enjoy the animation 😊 wish dis movie had more depth tho 🤔
