This Contra Costa festival is a dazzling showcase for gems and minerals

I remember when my dad took me to his first gem show back in '95... it was like stepping into a fantasy land! 😍 Nowadays, it seems like everything is so commercialized, but I'm glad the CCC Mineral & Gem Society still keeps it genuine and fun for all ages. The Fluorescent Tent sounds like something out of a sci-fi movie – who wouldn't wanna see rocks glowing under UV light? 🤖 And Diablo Dan's got his signature gneiss shirt, just like my dad used to wear 😊. I'm not sure if I'll be able to make it this year, but I might have to convince the family to come with me... after all, it's been 30 years since my last gem show and I'm due for a nostalgic fix! 🎉

So the Mineral & Gem Show is back again? I mean, I love it when they set up that Fluorescent Tent, it's like something out of a sci-fi movie 🚀. But have you seen the prices of some of those gems and minerals? Like, I get it, expert vendors and collectors are charging top dollar, but $10 for general admission is still kinda steep for a bunch of rocks 💸. And what's up with the Diablo Dan mascot? A gneiss shirt? Really? 😂. But hey, at least they're offering some fun activities for kids and adults alike, so that's something 👍. If you're into geology or just want to see some cool stuff, it's probably worth checking out... but don't expect me to break the bank 💰.
