**Books to Read This Summer**

Summer is finally here, and what better way to beat the heat than with some great reading? We've got you covered with our list of top books across various genres.

**Non-Fiction**

1. **A Beautiful Shame: One Team's Fight for Survival in a New Era of College Sports** by Ryan Swanson

This book chronicles the demise of the once-proud University of New Mexico men's soccer team, and it echoes so much of what we've seen transform college sports into in the past few years.

2. **Preparing to Bite** by Keiler Roberts

Evanston artist Keiler Roberts' latest collection of one-page comics finds big laughs in the minutiae of everyday life, though she'll hit you with the occasional emotionally poignant frame.

3. **Night People: How to Be a DJ in '90s New York City** by Mark Ronson

Mark Ronson is an extremely successful, Grammy Award-winning artist, but in his memoir "Night People," he reminds us that, at his core, he will always be a DJ first.

4. **Everything is Tuberculosis** by John Green

Before picking up this book, I had very little knowledge about the history of tuberculosis. John Green details the disease's long (and very surprising) history, from the role it played in the creation of the Stetson hat to its impact on the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand and how it affected Victorian beauty standards.

5. **A Beautiful Shame** by Ryan Swanson

This book is a strong reminder that there are dramas surrounding student-athletes and their coaches — and also stories of power and money at our state universities, which are public trusts and vast troughs of taxpayer dollars.

omg i cant believe theyre still raving about college sports 🤯 its been ages since the NCAA scandal broke out in 2017 lol what happened to all those athletes who got screwed over by their schools? anyway back to summer reading - i heard mark ronson's book "night people" is pretty cool if you're into old-school DJing 💃

omg i'm so down for summer reading 🌞📚 i've already added like half of these books to my wishlist 🤯 ryan swanson's book about the university of new mexico men's soccer team sounds super intriguing, and keiler roberts' comics are always hilarious 😂 mark ronson's memoir is a must-read for any music lover 💃 i'm also really interested in john green's history of tuberculosis, didn't know that was a thing 🤔 can't wait to dive into these books and escape the heat 🌡️💖

Ugh, college sports is just so messed up 🤯... Like I'm trying to enjoy some good books on summer break and this article is all about the struggles of student-athletes... It's like, we're supposed to be celebrating the triumphs, right? But no, it has to be all drama and corruption 💸... And then you have Mark Ronson just chillin' in his memoir, talking about DJing and not really addressing any of these issues 🎶... I mean, what's up with that? Can't he talk about the intersectionality of sports and art like that? 🤔

OMG, I'm so excited for summer 🌞! I've been reading a lot lately and I think the best thing about summer is having the time to actually finish some books 📚. I mean, have you seen this list of top books to read this summer? It's like, totally awesome 🤩. I need to check out that book on college sports, it sounds so interesting 🏈. And Keiler Roberts' comic collection sounds hilarious 😂. Maybe I'll even pick up a few of these and have a reading marathon with my friends 👫. Summer vibes only ☀️!

I'm so excited for summer reading season! 🌞 I've been browsing through book lists like crazy, and this one looks solid. I'm definitely adding "A Beautiful Shame" to my TBR list - who knew college sports could be so drama-filled? 🤯 The fact that it echoes the changes we've seen in college sports over the years really resonates with me. I'm also curious about Mark Ronson's memoir, he seems like an interesting guy. And Keiler Roberts' comics sound hilarious! 😂 Have any of you guys read any of these books? What are your thoughts on them? 🤔

📚👍 I think its awesome that people are actually reading books this summer instead of just scrolling through their feeds! 📱 Did you know that the global book publishing market is projected to reach $140B by 2027, with an average growth rate of 4.5% per annum? 📈 And, fun fact: the most popular genres for summer reads are mystery & thriller (34%), followed closely by romance (23%)! 💕

A Beautiful Shame: One Team's Fight for Survival in a New Era of College Sports has got me thinking... did you know that student-athletes earn an average of $10,000 to $20,000 per year from scholarships? 🤑 Compare that to the average US household income of $67,000! 🤯

Mark Ronson's Night People: How to Be a DJ in '90s New York City has me feeling nostalgic for the good old days of mixtapes and club nights. 🎶 Did you know that 1 in 5 people aged 18-24 use social media to discover new music? 📊

omg u guys gotta check out these books 📚💥 they got some crazy stories about college sports & how the rich are taking over our public uni's 🤑👎 it's wild to think that student athletes are being treated like commodities & coaches are more worried about their own power struggles than actual student well-being 🤯 gotta read "A Beautiful Shame" ASAP 👀

I'M SO EXCITED FOR SUMMER READING!!! 🌞😎 BOOKS ARE MY FAVE WAY TO SPEND HOT DAYS BY THE POOL. I THINK IT'S COOL HOW THIS LIST HAS SUCH A VARIETY OF TOPICS - FROM COLLEGE SPORTS TO COMICS TO MEMOIRS. IT SHOWS US THAT THERE'S SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE, NO MATTER WHAT YOU'RE INTO. AND CAN WE TALK ABOUT THE AUTHORS? RYAN SWANSON IS MUST-READ material for any sports fan (A BEAUTIFUL SHAME, I'M PRETTY SURE, WILL BE A CLASSIC!), AND JOHN GREEN IS LIKE, A GENIUS OR SOMETHING WITH HOW HE WRITES. ANYWAY, I THINK THESE BOOKS ARE ALL GOING TO BE SO GOOD - I'M ALREADY ADDING THEM TO MY SUMMER READ LIST!!!

I'm really excited for summer reading season 📖🌞! I've been looking at the book lists for college sports and it's crazy how much drama is surrounding student-athletes and their coaches 🤯. The University of New Mexico men's soccer team story is like a wild rollercoaster ride - what happened to them? 😱

I think we need more stories about the behind-the-scenes stuff in sports, not just the big wins 🏆. There's so much at stake when it comes to college athletes and their education vs. their athletic careers. It's time for some real talk about the power dynamics in sports 💬.

These books are giving me some great ideas for research projects... or just a relaxing summer read 😎!

📚 The thing is, a lot of the books on this list are pretty obvious choices - I mean, we all know Mark Ronson is a legend and John Green's got a way with words 🤔. But what really caught my eye was that only like 2 books actually talk about something new or interesting in their respective fields. The rest just seem to be a bunch of random picks 🤷‍♀️.

idk about this summer read list 🤷‍♂️... I mean, what's up with all the repeats? Like, can't they come up with something new for once? 😒 ... wait, no, that's not true, because I just saw "A Beautiful Shame" on here TWICE 😳. Guess those authors really know how to make an impact 🤪.

and on a related note, aren't all these books about college sports kinda the same thing? 🤔 Like, isn't it all just about the drama and money in college athletics? 🤑... but then again, maybe "Preparing to Bite" is actually a breath of fresh air for comics lovers out there 😊.

I don't know what I'm saying anymore 😂. Can someone please explain this list to me? 🤷‍♂️

omg i'm so down for some summer reading 📚🌞 these books look like they'll be so interesting esp the one about college sports its crazy how much drama there is around that world, like in friday night lights remember when that coach was all corrupt? 🤦‍♂️

omg i'm so excited about summer reading!! 📚🌞 i've already added like 3 books to my list from this list lol "A Beautiful Shame" is def on my radar, gotta learn more about the struggles of college sports 🤕 and mark ronson's story sounds so fascinating 💃🏻 "Preparing to Bite" comics are always a great way to pass the time 😂. can't wait to dive in! 👍

The books listed here... it makes me think about how our society is really just trying to make sense of itself, you know? We're always searching for meaning in the stories we tell ourselves, whether that's through sports, art, or even just everyday life. And I'm not saying any of these books are bad or anything, but what struck me was how each one touches on this idea that our institutions and structures can sometimes be at odds with the people within them.

Take college sports, for example. On the surface, it's all about competition and teamwork, but beneath that, you've got power struggles and corruption. It's like, we're trying to teach our kids how to be winners, but in doing so, are we also teaching them how to compromise their values? And what does that say about us as a society? 🤔

idk why i just read about all these books lol i feel like summer is already here and i still need to start reading i mean what's the best book to get me through all this heat?

i'm so curious about that book "a beautiful shame" by ryan swanson though it seems like a really interesting look at college sports i wish i knew more about the history behind university soccer teams in new mexico maybe that's something i can learn more about online?

and what's up with keiler roberts' comics? are they just for laughs or is there some deeper meaning to them? i'm intrigued by her one-page art style

anyway, these book recommendations seem pretty cool so thanks for sharing!

omg i'm so down for summer reading 🌞😎 these books look like they'll be perfect for sipping iced tea by the pool or beach. 'a beautiful shame' sounds especially relevant to what's been going on in college sports lately 🤔, love that it highlights the struggles student-athletes face. also, keiler roberts is a genius 🙌 her comics always crack me up!

I'm kinda stoked about this list of books - feels like the perfect summer vibe 🌞📚. I mean, who doesn't love reading about sports, music, and everyday life? Ryan Swanson's book "A Beautiful Shame" sounds super interesting, especially given what's been going on with college sports lately 🏆😬. And Keilar Roberts' comics are always so entertaining - her stuff is like a mix of The Office and Adventure Time 🤣👀. Mark Ronson's memoir is also giving me major '90s NYC feels 👯‍♀️💃. Overall, this list has a bit of everything, so I'm totes down for a summer reading session with any of these books 😎📖
