Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers: 'We don't want to be the biggest band in the world. It's just fun playing with our besties'

Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers are an Australian rock band composed of four teenage friends who started playing music together after watching a film about punk rock at a sleepover in 2015. The band's name was suggested by one of their uncles, and they quickly gained popularity for their energetic live performances, despite being underage.

Their early shows were marked by a sense of rebellion and punk spirit, with adults assuming they were older than they actually were. The band members, Scarlett McKahey (guitarist), Anna Ryan (singer), Jaida Stephenson (bassist), and Neve van Boxsel (drummer), have always prioritized having fun playing music together over fame or fortune.

As they grew in popularity, the band faced challenges related to their age and sex. Despite this, they persevered and eventually released their debut album, "I Love You," which included the hit singles "Salt" and "Ahhh!" The album earned them the award for Best Breakthrough Artist at the Aria Awards.

Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers have since opened for renowned bands like Foo Fighters and Pearl Jam, a feat they consider both thrilling and surreal. Despite their success, the band remains committed to their core values of friendship, fun, and creative freedom.

Their new album, "Glory," marks a significant evolution in their sound, with a darker, more synthy tone. The album's lead single, "Balcony," has been praised for its catchy hooks and energetic vibe, while the ballad "Unscarred" showcases the band's ability to craft emotionally resonant songs.

Throughout their journey, Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers have remained true to themselves, refusing to compromise on their artistic vision or values. As they continue to tour and release new music, their dedication to their friendship and passion for rock 'n' roll has only grown stronger.

OMG you guys 2025 is literally the year of the teens taking over 🤣, first it's Billie Eilish and now Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers are slaying the game with their sick new album "Glory" 💥 I mean who wouldn't want to rock out to some dark and moody synths? 🎸 But for real though these youngins are crushing it, opening for Foo Fighters and Pearl Jam no joke 😲, they're like the coolest teens ever. And let's be real, their live shows must be like a total party 🤪, I need to get tickets ASAP!

🤔 I've been following this band since they were teenagers playing gigs around Australia. It's crazy to think about how far they've come. Their new album "Glory" is a game-changer, the synthy tone is so different from their earlier work, but it still feels like them.

What I love about Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers is that they never lost sight of why they started playing music in the first place - for fun! 🎸 They're not trying to follow some formula or fit into a specific mold. They're unapologetically themselves, which is refreshing in an industry where it's easy to get caught up in the pressure to be 'commercial'.

Their dedication to their friendship and creative freedom is really admirable. It's clear that they have a strong bond as bandmates and as individuals. 💕

I'm so stoked for these Aussie teenies! They're like the ultimate throwback to the early 2000s emo scene, but with a modern twist 🤘. I mean, who wouldn't want to be part of a band that's all about having fun and not caring what others think? It's like they're the musical equivalent of those epic sleepovers from when I was a teenager 😴. And can we talk about how cool it is that they've opened for Foo Fighters and Pearl Jam? Like, totally surreal, dude! 🤯 Their new album "Glory" sounds like it's gonna be a game-changer, especially with that dark, synthy tone. Reminds me of the good old days when music was all about raw energy and rebellion 💥. I'm all for these teenies sticking to their guns (or should I say, guitars?) and never compromising on their art 🎸. Long live Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers! 👏

🤔 So I'm thinking, have you guys noticed how this band's rise to fame is kinda like the whole social media influencer thing? They just started doing what they loved (rocking out) and it took off! Meanwhile, we're seeing more and more politicians trying to shape the narrative around their "brand" and "image". Like, can't we just focus on creating something meaningful without trying to sell a persona? 🙄 And I'm also wondering how many times these young people have been asked about the politics of their music... like, is it okay that they're making a profit off rock 'n' roll when there are artists struggling to make ends meet elsewhere? 🤑 It's an interesting dynamic, for sure.

🤘 I love how these four teens took punk spirit to the next level with their own unique sound 🎸! It's amazing how they stuck to what made them happy - playing music together 💕 - even when fame came knocking 🚪. Their "Glory" album is giving me all the feels, especially that catchy lead single "Balcony" 📻.
