ST. THOMAS MEN'S BASKETBALL ROLL TO VICTORY OVER SOUTH DAKOTA STATE
The St. Thomas men's basketball team proved to be too strong for South Dakota State, cruising to a 77-62 win on the road. Top-scoring performance came from Nolan Minessale, who scored 26 points and added eight rebounds and four assists to his tally. The Tommies outscored their opponents by a significant margin of 46-34 in the second half after trailing just three points at halftime.
The team's shooting percentages reflected their dominance. They shot an impressive 71.4% from the field during the second half, including 6-of-9 from beyond the arc. The Tommies' overall shooting percentage for the game was 48.2%.
The St. Thomas men's basketball team now hosts Oral Roberts on Saturday at 7 p.m. Central.
Women's Basketball Team Falls to South Dakota State
However, not all of St. Thomas' basketball fortunes were so fortunate. Their women's team suffered a 84-51 defeat against South Dakota State in front of their home crowd. Alyssa Sand led the Tommies with 12 points, but it was not enough to stem the tide.
Faith Feuerbach and Autumn McCall also scored in double figures, adding 11 and 10 points respectively to the team's total. Meanwhile, Madison Mathiowetz from Sleepy Eye, Minnesota had a standout performance, scoring a game-high 21 points for South Dakota State.
