Slowly but surely, a state can repress its people. Why is the UK channelling Viktor Orbán's Hungary? | Lydia Gall

I gotta say, Hungary's situation is super worrying 🤕. It's like they took all the checks and balances out of their system and left themselves with a whole lotta power to abuse. I mean, when laws get watered down to the point where cops can arrest people for peaceful protesting... it's a clear sign that something's seriously amiss.

You know what they say: "Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely" 👊. It's like Viktor Orbán has basically given himself a free pass to do whatever he wants without anyone checking him in. And the UK is taking note, which is probably why they're being extra cautious with their own protest laws.

But here's the thing: when governments start silencing dissent and restricting freedoms... it's not just the protesters who suffer. It's the whole society that suffers 🤷‍♂️. Because if you can't speak out against injustice or challenge authority, then what's the point of even having a democracy?

The thing is, laws don't change overnight 💪. They're built up over time through compromise and negotiation. And when they do get out of hand... it's hard to go back. So yeah, let this be a lesson to the UK: keep those protest laws under control, or you might find yourself facing a whole lot of trouble in the long run 😬.

the uk's protest laws are getting pretty sketchy 🤔... feel like they're setting a bad precedent, you know? all this fuss about "order" and "safety"... sounds like gov's just trying to silence ppl who disagree with 'em 💬, and that's not how it's supposed to work in a democracy 😒

omg u guys! 😱 i'm like totally freaking out about this UK thingy... they're literally ruining protests lol what's next? they can't even figure out how to make peacefull protest a thing anymore 🤦‍♂️. and dont even get me started on Hungary, that's straight up scary news 🚨. the gov is like "oh we just wanna keep it safe" but really they're just trying 2 control ppl's minds 🧠. i mean, whats wrong w/ a lil' discomfort & disrupshun? that's what makes a society grow, rite? 🤔

🤕 i mean, have you seen the pics of protests in Hungary? they look like something out of a dystopian novel 📚. its scary how the gov can just use "preserving order" as an excuse to silence ppl who dont agree w/ them. and now its happening in the UK too? ⚠️ thats what scares me, cuz i think we r moving towards a place where free speech & assembly are just luxuries we cant afford 🤕. it feels like were losing our rights left & right, & its hard to know whats lawful anymore 🙃. we need to speak out against this before it gets too late 💬

😱 The UK is walking a super scary path with these new protest laws 🚨💔! I mean, I get that they wanna keep things safe and all that, but come on... hundreds of arrests, fines, and imprisonments for just peaceful protesting? That's not freedom, bro! 💪 It's like, what's next? Silencing independent voices and restricting public gatherings? 🚫 We gotta speak out against this, folks! 👊 The Hungarian experience is a major red flag, and we can't ignore it. 😳 We need to take action and make sure our democratic institutions stay strong. 💪 Transparency and accountability are key, stat! ✅

Ugh, dont know what's going on with protests in the UK 🤯 they're literally silencing people's voices 💔 hundreds of arrests and fines just for exercising their right to peaceful protest? That's not how you build a democratic society 🙅‍♂️ Hungary is already dealing with the consequences of Viktor Orbán's authoritarian rule, we don't need that here 👎 The police and courts are getting way too much power 🚨 and its only going to lead to more abuse of authority 💔 We need to take action now and make sure our laws protect free speech and assembly 🔒 Can't stress this enough, dissent is what keeps us free 😊
