Six Nations 2026: Doak's revival, strength in depth & Ulster's form - Ireland squad talking points

Andy Farrell's Ireland squad for the 2023 Six Nations Championship will be without several key players due to injury. The team, announced on January 10, includes Munster's Edogbo and other newcomers, but is also missing several experienced players who were named in last year's squad.Farrell said: "We'll soon find out over the next few weeks if these guys are up for the challenge. I think that's what Andy Farrell wants to find out."The team will face France on February 5 in Paris and then host Italy and travel to England before finishing their campaign at home to Wales and Scotland.Ferris believes Ireland have "to hit the ground running" in Paris, but does not expect them to win the title. Instead, he hopes that the experience gained by new players will help future-proof the squad."If you go away from home against France and England, you almost need your full deck to pick from," Ferris said. "They might cause an upset, whether that's in the first game or in the game against England, we'll wait and find out. They'll have to dig deep. Can they win the Six Nations? I don't think they beat France or England to a Six Nations title this year, but as long as you get to a semi-final of a Rugby World Cup then who cares?"

the 6 nations is gonna be super tough for ireland, they're missing some key players which always hurts, but ferris is being real about it, saying they might not win the title and that's fair. paris can't be easy away from home, especially against france and england, they need to hit the ground running and see what they can do, hopefully they learn a lot and get some new faces into the squad

oh man ๐Ÿคฏ i'm not sure about this squad ๐Ÿค” edogbo and newbies in the mix, but missing some big names ๐Ÿ˜” that's gonna be tough against france and england ๐Ÿ‡ซ๐Ÿ‡ท๐Ÿด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ฅ๓ ฎ๓ ง๓ ฟ ferris is right tho ๐Ÿ™Œ gotta hit the ground running โ›น๏ธ in paris ๐Ÿ‘€ but beating england? not sure ๐Ÿค” still hoping for a solid run tho ๐Ÿ†

omg, i feel 4 andy farrell ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ. losing key players due 2 injury is like, rite? ๐Ÿ˜ฉ at least he's bringin in new blood tho! edogbo is def one to watch ๐Ÿ•บ๐Ÿป. but france & england are like, the ultimate test, u know? ๐Ÿคฏ i think andy's strategy of tryna find out if these newbies can make it thru is pretty smart ๐Ÿง . and ferri's vibes r so chill lol ๐Ÿ˜Ž "hit the ground running" is like, easy 4 him 2 say ๐Ÿ™„. let's just hope they get some decent results & b4 4m the world cup ๐Ÿคž

๐Ÿ˜Š I'm not sure if the lack of key players is a bad thing. On one hand, it's a shame to lose those experienced players, but on the other hand, it's an opportunity for new blood to shine ๐ŸŒŸ. I think it's great that Andy Farrell is giving them a chance to prove themselves and bring some fresh energy to the team ๐Ÿ’ช. It might not be the most conventional approach, but if it means they can get through their games and make a good run in the tournament, who cares? ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ They might not win the Six Nations, but as Ferris said, beating France or England isn't necessary to have a successful tournament ๐ŸŽ‰.

I'm not expecting Ireland to do much in the 2023 Six Nations ๐Ÿค”. They've lost some key players due to injury and they're gonna have to rely on newbies ๐Ÿคฎ. Andy Farrell's just setting them up for failure, if you ask me ๐Ÿ˜’. And don't even get me started on Ferris' comments about beating France or England - like, are we seriously not going to make it past those teams? ๐Ÿ™„ The only way they might surprise us is if the other teams have an off day... but I doubt that's gonna happen either ๐Ÿ‘Ž

ugh i dont think ireland stand a chance in the 6 nations this year ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ andy farrell is being pretty realistic about it, he knows france and england are super tough teams ๐Ÿ’ช. its not all bad tho, at least edogbo and the newbies get a chance to shine ๐ŸŒŸ and who knows maybe they can pull off an upset ๐Ÿค” but yeah i think ferris is right in saying ireland need to hit the ground running if they wanna have any hope against france ๐Ÿ‘ฃ

OMG I'm so stoked for Ireland's squad ๐Ÿคฉ๐Ÿ‰! The newbies are gonna bring some fresh blood and energy to the team ๐Ÿ’ฅ! I mean, they're gonna need it against France and England - those teams are like the ultimate powerhouses ๐Ÿคฏ. But you know what? I think that's exactly why Ireland should be all about gaining experience and building for the future ๐Ÿ”™. It's not about winning the title this year (although who knows, right?) ๐Ÿ˜‰ but about creating a strong foundation for the years to come ๐Ÿ’ช!

Ugh ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ, I mean... it's like Ireland is just giving up on the whole thing already. Lose some key players and just send in a bunch of newbies? ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ What are they even hoping to achieve here? The coach says they'll find out over the next few weeks if these guys can handle the pressure, but I think we all know how that's gonna play out... ๐Ÿ˜’ Those new players are just going to get smashed by France and England, like, what a waste of time ๐Ÿ•ฐ๏ธ. And then they're gonna be stuck with Italy and Wales at home? Unbelievable ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ. They'll need all their might just to not get destroyed... yeah right ๐Ÿ˜ด

I'm gonna say that Andy Farrell's Ireland squad is way overrated lol ๐Ÿคฃ and I'm not just saying that 'cause they're missing some big names. I mean, if Edogbo and the rest are the future, why not make 'em start now? ๐Ÿค‘ Give 'em a real chance to shine against France and England instead of just getting warmed up for the Wales and Scotland games. And, yeah, let's be real, they're gonna get smoked by France or England... who wouldn't want to see that ๐Ÿคช!
