Senegal hope Morocco final will not be Mane’s AFCON farewell

Senegal's Coach Pape Thiaw Hopes Mane Will Change Mind On AFCON Farewell, But Team Is Not Convinced.

Sadio Mane announced his intention to not play for Senegal again at the Africa Cup of Nations after Wednesday's semifinal win against Egypt, leaving many believing this could be his last game in the tournament. However, coach Pape Thiaw hopes that Mane will reconsider his decision, saying there is a whole nation behind him who would like to see him continue.

Thiaw expressed his disappointment at Mane's statement, claiming it came across as impulsive and that he doesn't agree with it. The Senegalese football federation also released a statement complaining about the team's experience in Morocco, citing concerns over security, hotel accommodations, ticket allocation for supporters, and access to training facilities.

The stage is set for an intense final against host nation Morocco on Sunday, who are looking to claim their first title in 50 years. However, they face a daunting task as Senegal will be the underdogs having won the tournament before in 2022, with Mane being instrumental in that victory.

Mane has long been regarded as one of Africa's best players and was awarded African player of the year twice. His departure from international football has left a void that no other player seems to fill. Despite his potential retirement from football, Thiaw remains hopeful that he will reconsider his decision, adding "his decision is no longer up to him" with the entire nation wanting him to continue.

The pressure on Morocco coach Walid Regragui's team is immense as they look to claim their first title in 50 years. However, Regragui says the final is just one game and that they are not putting too much pressure on themselves, citing the crowd's support as a key factor in their favor.

The stage is set for an intense battle between Senegal and Morocco with Senegal looking to prove themselves against the hosts, while Morocco aim to make history by claiming their first title.

🌟💖 OMG I'm soooo excited for this final!!! 🤩 I mean Sadio Mane is literally a legend on the field & it's sad he might not be playing anymore 😔 but at the same time I love his passion & energy 💪 he's gonna make a difference no matter what happens 💫 Coach Thiaw is right tho, the whole nation wants him to keep going 🌎💕 let's just hope Morocco brings their A game because Senegal is definitely gonna give them a run for their money 🔥👏

omg i cant even believe sadio mane is thinkin bout retirin from senegal after all he's been thru 🤯 like wat is goin on in his head? coach pape thiaw really hopes he changes his mind but tbh its hard 2 see him playin for senegal again when he didnt even finish the semifinal 🙅‍♂️ i mean mane has been such a key player 4 senegal's afcon wins esp back in 2022 💥 so lets see how morocco handles the pressure 🤔 dey got a tough game ahead of dem against the underdogs

omg, can u believe sadio mane said he won't play for senegal again? i was really rooting for them in the semifinal vs egypt 🤯 they're gonna need him super badly in the final against morocco, especially since it's at home 🏆 thiaw seems like a cool dude tho, hoping mane will change his mind 😊 the whole nation is behind him, that's what matters! and morocco's coach regragui is being super chill about the pressure, but we all know how intense finals can be 💪 it's gonna be an epic battle between these two teams! 🌟

I'm really gonna miss Sadio Mane if he does indeed retire from the team 🤕😔. He's been such a huge part of Senegal's success in the AFCON and it feels like there won't be anyone else who can fill his shoes. Coach Thiaw is right, though - the whole nation is behind him and would love to see him continue. But at the same time, I get why he'd wanna take a break. Football's such a grind and Mane deserves some rest 😴💤. This final is gonna be so intense tho! Morocco's got the pressure on them, but if Senegal can just play their game, they've got a good shot at it 🏆👍

This whole thing is just like when your opponent makes a big move before the election 🤯. Mane suddenly decides he's done playing for Senegal, and now Pape Thiaw is trying to talk him out of it - seems kinda fishy, if you ask me 🐟. Meanwhile, Morocco is under all this pressure because they want that title so bad... reminds me of when the incumbent party tries to cling to power by any means necessary 😬. The Senegalese federation is all like "security concerns" and stuff, but let's be real, it's just an excuse to deflect from the fact that their team isn't as strong as they thought 🤦‍♂️. It's gonna be a tough final for Morocco, and I'm not sure even Regragui's experience will save them from Senegal's underdog spirit 💪.

Mane's decision is gonna be super hard for Senegal to swallow. 🤕 They won AFCON before w/ him, now he's just chillin'. His team & nation are counting on him, it's not just about the game, its about pride.

I gotta say, this Mane situation is super fishy 🤔. One minute he's all about playing for Senegal, the next he's saying he's done for good? What's going on here? Is it a PR stunt or what? I mean, Thiaw thinks his decision was impulsive and that there's more to it than meets the eye... like, has Mane been getting pressure from sponsors or something? And what about the Senegal federation's complaints about Morocco? That just smells like an excuse to me 🙄. It's all too convenient. I think we're gonna see a lot of drama in this final against Morocco 💥.

🤔 I feel bad for Sadio Mane, he's been amazing for Senegal 🇸🇳, but sometimes things aren't what we want them to be 💔. The pressure on him is huge, and it's not surprising that the team isn't convinced about his decision 🤷‍♂️. But you can't blame him for wanting to do what's best for himself 😐. Morocco are going to have a tough time, they need to step up their game if they want to win 🏆. It's gonna be an intense match, whoever wins will deserve it 💪

idk why mane is being so sudden about quitting senegal 🤔. i mean, coach papé thiaw is all like "hey sadio, think again, we got your back" but it sounds like mane's made up his mind 💯. and now senegal's gotta deal with the aftermath of him leaving - ticket probs, security issues... all that drama 😩. morocco's got this afcon thing down to a science, they're not gonna get distracted by sadio's indecision 🙅‍♂️. the real question is will mane come out of retirement just in time for the final? we'll have to wait and see 🤞

🤔 I'm thinking... what does it say about us that we're always rooting for the underdog? Like, Mane's decision is all about his personal feelings, but we're still hyping up Senegal to take down the hosts... doesn't that just fuel the pressure on them even more? And what about Regragui's team? They're saying it's just one game, but don't they feel the weight of history on their shoulders? I mean, 50 years is a long time to be waiting for something like this. It's not just about the final, it's about the expectations and the legacy that comes with it... 🏆

OMG u gotta feel 4 Sadio Mane lol he's been instrumental in Senegal's AFCON wins & everyone loves him! I mean Coach Pape Thiaw hopes he changes his mind but team is like "nope we got this" 😂& its not just about the tournament, its a whole nation wanting him 2 continue. Morocco is gonna bring the heat tho 🌶️, they've never won it b4 & Senegal's got a tough act 2 follow (pun intended). What's with all these security concerns tho? 🤔 cant we just enjoy the game 🏟️

lol what's up with this Mane guy?! 😂 like he just made up his mind outta thin air? 🤔 coach Thiaw is like "hey Sadio, chill out" but I think Sadio's all set on quitting the team 🚫👋. Morocco's gotta be shakin' in their boots tho, this one's gonna be a battle for the ages 🏆🔥!

I mean, Senegal's got some good bones to work with, and Mane was like the superhero of AFCON 2022 💪🕸️, so it's cool that they're gonna have his back... or at least try to 😊. Coach Regragui's just keepin' it real tho, no pressure, all love 🙏💖!

OMG 🤯 I'm loving Sadio Mane's dedication to his country! 🇸🇾 He's been through so much in his football career and to see him giving it his all for Senegal is truly inspiring 💪. Coach Pape Thiaw's words of encouragement mean a lot, and I think he has every right to change his mind 🤔. I'd love to see him reconsider his decision and play on Sunday 🏟️. It'll be an epic battle between Senegal and Morocco, but let's be real, Senegal is bringing the heat 🔥! 😍

🤔 Senegal needs Mane more than ever now, his absence will be felt 🌪️. They can't replicate what he brings to the team, it's like trying to find a new sun in the sky ☀️. If they want to win, they need him back 💪. Coach Thiaw's optimism is a good start but the team needs to convince Mane himself 🙏. It's not just about one game, it's about the whole tournament now ⚽️.

man this africa cup of nations is gonna be so lit 🤯! but seriously tho, i think senegal got some major issues to deal with before they can even think about takin' down morocco... like whats up with the security and hotel stuff? if mane's decision was impulsive then why did the federation wait till now to speak out? and btw i get that reggui is keepin it chill but come on, 50 years without a title is a big deal! 🤔

OMG you guys! 🤯 I'm still trying to wrap my head around Sadio Mane's decision not to play for Senegal again at the AFCON 😱. I mean, I get why he wants to prioritize his club team and personal life, but it feels like such a bummer considering how instrumental he was in Senegal's 2022 win 🙌.

Pape Thiaw's words of hope that Mane will reconsider are really sweet ❤️, but the team doesn't seem too convinced 🤔. And let's be real, Morocco is NOT an easy opponent 😅. They're like, super hungry for this title and it'll be a tough test for Senegal.

I feel for Sadio though - he's been doing so well in Africa as a player and African Player of the Year twice? 🙌 That's no joke! It'll be sad to see him go if he does decide to retire from international football... but I guess only time will tell what happens next 💕. Bring on Sunday's final, though - it's going to be EPIC! 🔥

I gotta say, I'm low-key worried about Sadio Mane leaving Senegal 🤔. The guy's a legend on the pitch, no doubt about it 💥. He was instrumental in Senegal's 2022 AFCON win and has been carrying the team to all these finals 🔥. If he really does hang up his boots for good, it'll be a huge blow 😔.

Coach Pape Thiaw is totally right to try and persuade him to change his mind 🤞 though. I mean, there's the whole nation behind Mane, cheering him on 🎉. And let's be real, Senegal's got some unfinished business with Morocco 🔴🦊. This final is gonna be EPIC 💥! Can't wait to see how it all unfolds ⏰. One thing for sure, though - Morocco's gotta bring their A-game if they wanna take on the likes of Mane 🤯. Bring it on! 👊

man... i feel for pape thiaw 🤕 he's really putting his heart out there trying to convince sadio mane to change his mind. but at the same time, i get why mane would wanna say no after all the drama they've been through in morocco 🤯 it's not like they haven't had some issues with their experience over here. still, it's gonna be tough for senegal to beat morocco without mane... i mean, he's like the difference between a 1-0 win and a 2-1 loss 😅 anyone think senegal's got what it takes to take down the hosts? 🤔

u guys gotta chill out already 🙄, sadio mane just announced he's done with senegal afcon and people are like freakin out but coach thiaw is still holdin out hope that mane will change his mind lol what's the big deal? mane was good but he can't be everywhere at once, morocco got this tho 🤩 their team looks solid and they're gonna make history if they win, not just for themselves but for africa too!
