See the world’s deepest fish | CNN

A team of scientists has made an extraordinary discovery, capturing footage of the deepest fish ever recorded on camera. The extraordinary creature was spotted in trenches off Japan at a staggering depth of over 27,000 feet.

The incredible footage shows the snailfish swimming effortlessly through the near-freezing darkness of the deep-sea trench, its slow and deliberate movements captured with remarkable clarity by the cameras.

Researchers believe this species to be an unknown species, and further research will be needed to understand more about it. The discovery highlights the vast mysteries that still remain in our oceans, where only a fraction of the marine life has been explored and documented.

The expedition was part of a scientific mission to study the unique ecosystems found in these remote areas, providing valuable insights into the incredible diversity of life on Earth.

While this incredible find may raise questions about the potential for undiscovered species lurking in the depths of our oceans, it also serves as a reminder of the importance of continued exploration and research.

Ugh, I'm just glad they finally figured out how to use those underwater cameras properly 🙄. I mean, who comes up with these projects? Alright, so this snailfish thing is crazy deep, no doubt about it... 27k feet is insane! But let's be real, how hard was it for them to get that footage in the first place? I bet they spent months trying to set up those cameras and still had to deal with like, equipment failures or something 🤦‍♂️.

And yeah, more research is needed, I'm not surprised 😊. But honestly, can we talk about how outdated this whole "discovery" thing is? Like, we've been exploring the ocean for decades now, and there's still so much we don't know. It just feels like the same old stuff every time... 🤷‍♂️

This is so cool 🤯! I mean, who knew there was even something that deep?! The thought of all these unexplored areas of our oceans just blows my mind. It's like, we're still discovering new things about our own planet! 🌎 And to think that this incredible find could lead to even more research and understanding of the marine life... it's just amazing 🐠. The footage is so eerie too, I mean, can you even imagine swimming in those conditions? ❄️

I'm literally blown away by this discovery 🤯! Like, 27k feet is mind-boggling, right? And can you even imagine what other creatures are out there that we have no idea about? It's wild to think about all the species waiting to be discovered in our oceans. We're still only scratching the surface of understanding marine life, and this find just puts into perspective how much more there is to explore and learn 🌊💡. I'm all for more research and expeditions like this one – it's a reminder that we've got so much to discover and protect 🌟🔍

just think about it 🤯... these creatures are literally living at -27k feet underwater! like what even is that? their slow movements make them look all adorable and sluggish in the footage 😊... can you imagine swimming with something that slow? lol... anyway, its wild to think theres still so much we dont know about our oceans and the creatures that live there 🌊💦. makes me wanna learn more about marine life ASAP 👍

😍 I mean, can you even imagine being that close to something that no human has ever seen before? 27k feet is like, crazy! 🤯 And the fact that we still have so much unexplored in our oceans is wild. I'm pretty sure there are still species out there that we don't know exist yet. It's crazy to think about all the unknowns lurking beneath the surface. The footage looks insane too, it's like swimming alongside a creature from another world 🌊🦈

omg can you believe this?! they just found a fish that deep?! i mean we still have so much to learn about our own oceans let alone the ones on the other side of the globe 🤯😲 27k feet is crazy think about it, like what even lives down there? and the fact that they're saying this could be an unknown species already has me thinking about all the creatures we don't know about 😮🌊 i love how scientists are always pushing boundaries and exploring new things it's so cool! 💡

omg u gotta believe the deep sea is literally still full of secrets 😲 like 27k feet?! that's insane 🤯 i'm all about exploring & discovering new species we only just found out about these snailfish things now, imagine what else is lurking down there 👀 it's crazy how much we still have to learn about our own planet 🌎 and i love how scientists are like "let's explore this stuff" it's so cool 💡 keep pushing the boundaries & uncovering those mysteries 🔍

🤔 I'm not convinced by this discovery... 27k feet is deep, sure, but what's to stop someone from faking the footage or misidentifying the creature? Have we got proof that these scientists actually got it on camera without human interference? And what exactly is with the "unknown species" label - have they even got a decent photo or video of it in its natural habitat? I mean, a snailfish just swimming around in the dark doesn't really scream 'groundbreaking discovery' to me... where's the source for this? 📊
