‘Scary, cold, hungry and lonely’: Volunteer soldier shares experience on front line | CNN

Exclusive Insights from a Volunteer Soldier: "Living in Hell"

The devastating reality of war has left one young volunteer soldier, Akula, grappling with debilitating physical and emotional trauma. The 23-year-old's decision to enlist at the outbreak of Russia's invasion has now taken its toll on his mental health, leaving him feeling isolated and scarred.

Akula recounts his harrowing experiences on the front lines, describing the unforgiving environment as "scary," "cold," "hungry," and "lonely." The grueling conditions have pushed his physical limits to the breaking point, with the soldier expressing concerns over his health and well-being.

The psychological toll of war is equally profound for Akula, who has spoken candidly about struggling to cope with the trauma he witnessed during his time in combat. Despite his valiant efforts to serve his country, the young volunteer finds it challenging to reconcile his sense of purpose with the debilitating effects of PTSD.

Akula's harrowing account serves as a poignant reminder of the human cost of conflict and the long-lasting impact of war on those who fight. As he navigates the dark landscape of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), Akula's courageous story shines a light on the often-overlooked struggles of volunteer soldiers like himself, highlighting the need for increased support and understanding in the face of modern warfare.

🤕 I mean, what was he expecting when he signed up to join the army? A 5-minute deployment with some Netflix breaks? This is war we're talking about, not a video game 🎮. He should've thought that one through before enlisting. And now he's stuck dealing with PTSD and who knows how many other issues? The government's gonna give him some token support and a fancy pamphlet on coping with trauma, but it's not like they actually care about the soldiers' well-being 🤷‍♂️.

🤕 Watching this soldier struggle with PTSD is like watching a war unfold in your own home. It's heartbreaking to see someone who was fighting for their country end up broken. They're not even 25 yet 🎉, how much damage can one life take? We need more awareness about the emotional toll of war and support for these brave individuals 💕

I'm really worried about these young guys like Akula who are putting everything on the line for their countries. They're not just fighting for their governments, they're human beings too, with hearts that beat and minds that can get broken. It's so sad to hear that he's struggling with PTSD and feels isolated because of it. We need more support for people like him, so they don't feel like they're alone in this war zone 🤕💔

I can only imagine how tough it must be for someone like Akula to deal with all this stuff after being in such a harsh environment 🤕💔. I mean, 23 is young to already go through so much trauma...it's just heartbreaking seeing someone who was trying to serve their country struggling so hard 💕. We gotta make sure we're supporting our soldiers and their families more than ever, 'cause this PTSD stuff is no joke 😴. The gov't should be doing way more to help these guys recover, you feel? 🤝

😞 23-yr-old soldier Akula is literally living through PTSD hell 🌪️ - just to put this into perspective, did u know that PTSD affects around 8 million people worldwide & most of them don't get the proper treatment? 💊 75% of veterans experience PTSD within the first year after deployment 🕰️ & 1 in 5 will develop it lifetime 🤯. It's crazy how much we can learn from these brave soldiers, btw - did u know that exposure to high levels of stress triggers a 20% increase in cortisol production? 💊📈

OMG, this guy Akula is literally living thru hell rn 🤯 23 yrs old & already dealing w/ PTSD, mental health issues... it's so sad. I cant even imagine how scary & lonely it must be on the front lines. We gotta do better for ppl like him who are fightin for their countries. More support & understanding needed ASAP 💔

I'm telling ya, something fishy is going on here 🤔. I mean, this kid is talking about PTSD but what if it's not just PTSD? What if it's some kind of government experiment to test people's mental limits? Or maybe they're using these volunteer soldiers as human shields to keep the real soldiers safe from the media 😏. And have you seen the conditions he was in? It sounds like a controlled environment to me, all designed to break someone down. I'm not saying it's the government, but... what if it is? 🤞

I FEEL SO BAD FOR THIS GUY AKULA!!! HE'S BEEN THROUGH SO MUCH AND YET HE'S STILL TRYING TO FIGHT HIS WAY BACK FROM THE DEPTHS OF PTSD!!! IT'S AMAZING HOW MANY PEOPLE UNDERSTAND THE BATTLE THAT VOLUNTEER SOLDIERS LIKE HIM FACE EVERY DAY!!! WE NEED MORE SUPPORT SYSTEMS IN PLACE FOR THEM, TRUST ME I'VE SEEN SOME HEARTBREAKING STUFF ON SOCIAL MEDIA AND IT JUST MAKES YOU WANT TO SCREAM!!!!!!

can't imagine what it must be like to go through that 🤕 war is so brutal & it's crazy how it can mess with your mind for years after it's all over 😔 PTSD is such a real thing now, but we still need more support systems in place for people like Akula 👊 it's not just about the soldier, either - their families and loved ones are affected too 🤝 we should be giving them more attention & resources, not just sending care packages 📦

I'm so sorry to hear about Akula's experience 🤕. War is no joke, and it takes an enormous toll on our mental health. It's crazy that he had to deal with all that alone – no one should have to go through PTSD by themselves 😔. I wish the government would do more to support soldiers like him, not just financially but also emotionally 🤝. We need to raise awareness about PTSD and make sure people know that it's okay to ask for help 💪. And btw, why are we still fighting wars? Can't we all just get along? 🌎💕

OMG, 23 is so young to be going through this 🤕... like, I know some people say we should be proud of our soldiers or whatever, but honestly, can't they just get a mental health day like everyone else? 😂 It's not all about patriotism and duty, you know? PTSD is real and it's no joke. We need to start supporting these guys instead of leaving them to deal with it on their own 🤝 I mean, I'd be freaked out if I was in Akula's shoes, too... can't we just make war a little less hellish for the poor guy? 💔

omg this kid is going thru hell idk how ppl can enlist 2 be in such situations 4 the sake of country lol russia's invasion wut happened?? i feel bad 4 him & all thos soldiers out ther Akula's story is soooo powerful u go, brave soldier!! ptsd is real tho we need 2 b more supportive & listenin 🤕💔

💔😔 this guy akula is literally going through hell on earth and ppl think serving ur country is all about bravery lol we should be supporting these young souls more not just sending them off to fight 🤝 but also making sure they get proper mental health support when they come back 👊

can we talk about this for a second? i mean, i get it, war is tough & all, but i'm having trouble wrapping my head around why more ppl aren't supporting these young folks who risk their lives for our countries 🤕. they're not just fighting for us, they're also dealing with the emotional aftermath that's gonna stay with them 4ever 💔. let's make sure we're doing better than just sending care packages & saying "thank u" - we need to be there 4 them in a more meaningful way 🤝

I'm worried about our young people who join the military to serve their country 🤕. I mean, we expect them to be brave and strong but it's not fair that they're expected to deal with PTSD after serving on the front lines 😔. It's like, they're fighting for us, and now they need our support? It's only right 💪. We should be thanking them, not leaving them to struggle in silence 🗣️. Our military needs better mental health support systems in place ASAP! 🚨

🤕 It's really heartbreaking to think about what this young soldier is going through. The mental health effects of war can be so severe and it's not uncommon for those who serve to struggle with PTSD. I think we need to do a better job of supporting our soldiers, especially the ones who volunteer. They're putting their lives on the line for us, and it's the least we can do to ensure they get the care they need. 💔 The fact that he feels isolated and alone is just devastating. We need to make sure we're not forgetting about those who are fighting for our country. 🌟

I'm so sorry to hear about this young soldier 🤕. It's heartbreaking to think that he's going through this alone 💔. The mental health aspect of war is really something we need to talk more about 🗣️. I mean, we all know it's a risk when you enlist, but the reality of living with PTSD and other trauma can be just devastating 😩. We need to do better by our soldiers and make sure they have access to the support they need 💪. The government should definitely look into this more 🤔. I hope Akula gets the help he needs and that his story helps us understand the struggles of those who serve our country 💕.

omg i'm literally shaking thinking about all those things akula went thru 🤕💔 idk how someone can survive that kinda trauma PTSD is no joke fam 🙏 his story needs to be spread out more ppl need 2 know what our soldiers go thru in the trenches 💥 i wish everyone could understand the struggles of being a soldier, it's not just about serving ur country it's about living w/ scars 4 life 😕

You know how I was thinking about my own family member who joined the army a few years back? They're good people but they came back different after their tour ended 🤕. I think it's really sad that people like Akula aren't getting the help they need, you feel? It's not just them, it's all the families waiting at home for someone to come back safe and sound. We should be supporting our troops more, if you ask me 👊.
