Sandy Brondello gets candidd about Liberty firing: ‘Wasn’t right fit’

New York Liberty Head Coach Sandy Brondello Reveals Reason Behind Her Departure

In her first public comments since being let go as the head coach of the New York Liberty, Sandy Brondello has explained why she was ousted from her role. According to Brondello, the team's alignment with its front office was not a good fit for her. This lack of alignment led to what Brondello described as a "leadership decision" and ultimately resulted in her departure.

Brondello revealed that she realized it was time for her to move on from the Liberty, citing the need for new challenges and a fresh voice to help the team improve. The coach expressed that when players and coaches are not aligned with the team's goals, it can lead to mistakes and a decline in performance.

Brondello, who led the Liberty to their first WNBA championship in 2024, acknowledged that she was not perfect as a coach and made some mistakes during her tenure. However, she emphasized that winning a championship together was what mattered most to her and the players.

The news of Brondello's departure has left the Liberty searching for a new head coach. The team is currently exploring various candidates, including Kristi Toliver, Will Weaver, and Joseph Blair.

🏀😬 I'm kinda sad to see Coach Sandy go 🤕 she was amazing on the court 👍 and brought that championship title to NY in 2024 💥 now the team gotta find a new leader 🔄 who's gonna bring that same fire 🔥 and chemistry to the floor ⚡️ gotta hope they pick someone who understands the game 📊 like Coach Brondello did 🤝 wish her all the best on this new adventure 🌟

😐 I'm really gonna miss Sandy Brondello on the NY Liberty. She was an awesome coach and brought so much heart to the team 🤗. I feel for her though, sometimes things just don't work out even when you're doing your best. Alignment with the front office can be tough, especially in a sports team where everyone's got their own vision 💬. But hey, it sounds like she's moving on to greener pastures and who knows, maybe she'll get another chance at a championship title 🏆! I hope Kristi Toliver and whoever else they're looking at can bring the same level of passion and dedication to the team 👍

I'm not surprised 🤔. If I had to guess, she was just getting too comfortable and it was time for someone else to shake things up. And let's be real, the team's front office is probably still trying to figure out what they're doing after that championship win last year... it's like they thought winning a title would solve all their problems 🙄. I mean, Sandy Brondello made some mistakes, but at least she had the decency to admit it and move on. The Liberty needs someone who can bring in some new blood and fresh ideas, not just more of the same old thing 😒. And yeah, it's no secret they're already looking for a replacement... it's just a matter of time before they find someone who'll fit their style 💁‍♀️.

🤔 So Sandy Brondello thinks she just wasn't vibin' with the front office anymore? Like they had different visions or something? 🤷‍♀️ I get it, you lead a team to a championship in 2024, you must've wanted more. But didn't you guys have a good run together? It's weird that she's not taking any blame for her mistakes as coach... like she's just shifting the focus to the front office? 😒 And what about Kristi Toliver and those other coaches they're considering? Are they gonna be able to bring back that championship feel or is it all downhill now? 🏀

Omg I'm so surprised 🤯 she actually said it out loud! Alignment issues can be super tricky in sports, but Sandy knew what was best for her career 💼 I feel bad for the Liberty tho, they're gonna miss her leadership skills 🙌 but on the bright side, a new coach could bring some fresh energy to the team 🔥 Can't wait to see who they pick next! 🤔

omg i feel bad for sandy 🤕 she was an amazing coach and led them to that championship in 2024 - i wonder if the front office guys just didnt get her style of play 💪 maybe they need a fresh perspective on the team now? 🤔 anyway, hope the new guy turns out awesome 🎉

OMG, like I'm totally gutted about Sandy Brondello leaving the New York Liberty 🤕💔! She was literally the best thing that ever happened to the team, and now they're gonna find another coach who might not be as cool 😒. I mean, she won a championship in 2024, can you even believe it? 💥 It's like, what more do they need? The Liberty were on fire under her! And yeah, she made some mistakes, but who doesn't, right? 🤷‍♀️ Still, it's sad to see her go... I wonder if she'll come back and coach again someday? 😊 Fingers crossed for that! 💕

just read this news about Sandy Brondello leaving the NY Liberty 😐. i think what's crazy is that she was letting go of herself to find a better fit 🤯. it's easy to say we're not aligned with the team when in reality it's often about our own personal goals and aspirations. Brondello realized her time there had run its course, but also knows winning isn't everything - it's about growth and making smart decisions 💡. maybe the Liberty will find a coach who's just right for them 🤞, but Brondello's decision shows that sometimes we gotta be brave enough to walk away and try something new 💪

OMG, I feel bad 4 Sandy 🤕. She was a great coach & led the team to that 1st WNBA championship in 2024 💥. It's def not easy for her 2 leave the team she built up but new challenges r always callin' 📣. I think it's awesome she's movin on 2 find a new voice 2 help the team improve 🔄. The Liberty will prob do just fine w/ whoever they choose next 💪, but it's sad 2 see Sandy go 😔. Hope she finds a coachin gig that's a perfect fit 4 her & her skills 🤞.

aww man 🤕, I feel so bad for Sandy 😔, she led that team to a championship in 2024 and now they're letting her go? it's like, you just won everything together... what happened? 🤷‍♀️ did the front office not value her as a coach? it's crazy how sometimes teams just don't align with their leaders' vision... 💔 hope the new coach is a better fit for them 👍

omg I'm still reeling from Sandy Brondello being let go 🤯 like what happened to her fam? she had just won that first WNBA championship in 2024 and now she's gone 💔 I feel bad for the players, they must be devastated. I gotta give it to her though, she's keeping it real about not being perfect as a coach and making mistakes 🤝 and honestly, I think we need more voices like hers in the league! so hopefully whoever takes over will bring some fresh vibes 💖 and I hope the Liberty find someone who aligns with their goals, it's gotta be tough for them right now 😔
