Radiohead review – bards of the apocalypse return for a brutal bacchanal

Radiohead Revives with a Brutal, Bacchanalian Bash

It's been a decade and more since the British icons have released new material, leaving their devoted fanbase eagerly anticipating their return to the stage. And now, after years of anticipation, Radiohead has finally reunited, delivering a visceral, boundary-pushing performance that left the audience gasping for air.

The band took the stage in a deliberate, almost ritualistic manner, with each member assuming different positions behind a shimmering projection screen. This unconventional setup belied the intensity that was about to unfold. The show opened with "Let Down," a fan favorite from OK Computer, which has gained new traction among younger generations on TikTok.

Thom Yorke's voice soared through the arena as he delivered a mordant, self-deprecating take on his own tendency towards maudlin songwriting. His vocal delivery was accompanied by Jonny Greenwood's curious guitar melody, played in a different time signature to the other instruments, which provided an electrifying foundation for the rhythm section.

The band's mid-career tracks, such as "Bloom" and "Ful Stop," showcased their ability to craft infectious, floor-filling anthems. The elder Greenwood proved once again to be Radiohead's secret weapon, his playing oscillating between loverman soulfulness and brutal intensity.

As the night wore on, Yorke's energy remained palpable, even as he acknowledged the weight of legacy and the pressure to deliver a setlist that would satisfy both old and new fans. While some might quibble about the relative lack of choice picks from albums like A Moon Shaped Pool or The Bends, "Fake Plastic Trees" brought the house down with its explosive, bass-driven climax.

The performance was a testament to Radiohead's enduring power as a live act. Gone were the nervous, high-strung performances of their early days; in their place was an unbridled joy, a sense of relief that they could finally let loose and be themselves on stage. Yorke's enigmatic smile said it all – "gracias" echoed through the arena, a paean to the band's return.

This was not just a concert, but a visceral experience that left the audience breathless and yearning for more. It marked a new chapter in Radiohead's storied career, one that would no doubt be filled with controversy, innovation, and – above all – sonic brutality.

omg I'm still reeling from this concert they totally brought the house down 🤯 Thom Yorke's performance was insane he has so much energy and charisma on stage it's like he's a different person from his interviews which always seem so dry in comparison lol.

I loved how they incorporated all these new, younger fans into their setlist and made them feel included I mean "Let Down" is basically the ultimate TikTok song 🤣 but still, it was great to see older fans singing along to tracks like "Bloom" too.

And can we talk about Jonny Greenwood's guitar playing for a second? that man is a genius his playing style is so unique and captivating it's like he's speaking a different language on stage. The way the whole band came together to create this cacophony of sound was just mesmerizing.

omg u guys radiohead is back & they're BRUTAL 🤯 the way thom yorke just killed it on stage was insane, i mean the dude's got some serious pipes on him. and jonny greenwood's guitar work? FORGET ABOUT IT 🔥 it's like he's speaking a whole different language up there. i loved how they played all the old classics like "let down" & "fake plastic trees", but also threw in some newer tracks to get the crowd moving 🤩. anyway, this show was literally LIFE.CHANGING.

I mean, yeah, Radiohead is back and they're bringing the noise 🤯. But let's get real, it's been over 10 years since their last album drop - that's a pretty long time to be out of commission. I'm glad they've finally decided to get back on stage, but I do think some fans are gonna be a bit miffed about the setlist choices 🤔.

I'm not saying it was bad or anything, but I did notice they didn't play "Idioteque" - like, what's up with that? It's one of their biggest hits and they leave it out. But hey, to each their own, right? At least Thom Yorke brought his A-game, and Jonny Greenwood's guitar playing was on point 💥.

I do think some people are gonna say the show was a bit too long, but I'm all for it - more music is always better than less 😂. And can we just talk about how awesome it was to see Thom Yorke's energy? He's still got it, even if he did stumble a bit on stage 🤦‍♂️.

Anyway, Radiohead's back and they're here to stay - let the sonic brutality begin! 🔊

omg i'm so hyped about radiohead's comeback! their live show was insane 🤯! the way they mixed up old and new tracks had me dancing like a total idiot 💃🏻🎉. thom yorke's vocals were EVERYTHING 😍, and jonny greenwood's guitar playing is still giving me life 🔥. i love how they're not afraid to take risks and push boundaries - it's clear they're still passionate about making music that matters 🎶.

and can we talk about the visuals? that projection screen was a genius move 🔮! it added an extra layer of depth to their performance and made it feel like a full-on sensory experience 🌐. i'm so glad they're back and better than ever 💯. this is exactly what i've been waiting for - a reminder that some bands can still bring the house down even after all these years 🏠.

anyway, i'm already counting down the days until their next show 🤔. who else is with me on this? 🤗

omg u gotta hear this!!! i'm still reeling from radiohead's comeback show 🤯 they brought the house down with their brutal, bacchanalian bash! i mean Thom Yorke's vocals are always on point but this time he was on a whole other level 😲 his voice just soared and Jonny Greenwood's guitar riffs were insane 🎸

i love how they played all these old faves like "let down" and "fake plastic trees" but also threw in some newer stuff that still felt super radioheady 🤔 i mean who needs to choose between their iconic albums when u can just mash them all up? 🙅‍♂️

anyway, the energy in the arena was ELECTRIC 💥 i'm talking palpable joy and relief - like they were finally free to be themselves on stage 🎉 and that smile from Thom Yorke at the end was EVERYTHING 😊 can't wait for their next show!

omg I'm so stoked to hear that radiohead is back!!! 🤩 i've been listening to them since i was like 10 and their music just gets better with age! but idk why they didn't play any of their newer stuff like A Moon Shaped Pool? did they not have enough songs for the setlist or something? 🤔 i mean i loved "fake plastic trees" tho, that song is like my jam 😆 anyway i'm so down for a new album from them! and yay for thom yorke's vocals, he's just the best singer ever 💖
