R&B Xmas Ball review – Toni Braxton melts hearts and Boyz II Men blow minds on trip back to the 90s

Toni Braxton Brought Tears and Boyz II Men Left the Audience Awestruck at R&B Xmas Ball.

The second annual R&B Xmas Ball kicked off in grand style, with a star-studded lineup that delivered heartfelt, old-school renditions of 90s R&B. While not exactly festive in the classical sense, this was an evening to remember, thanks largely to the unstoppable Toni Braxton and Boyz II Men.

Dru Hill's set got things underway, complete with matching outfits and a dash of nostalgic flair, while Joe delivered a string of slow jams that primed the audience for what was to come. However, it wasn't until Braxton took to the stage that the evening truly began to sizzle.

Her performance was nothing short of breathtaking, as she wove together personal struggles with musical mastery. Tears streamed down her face during Breathe Again, a poignant rendition of a song that had once been told would be too much for her to perform live again due to her ongoing battle with lupus. Power chords and heartfelt emotion propelled Long As I Live forward, while Un-break My Heart was sung with all the conviction of someone holding their audience in the palm of their hand.

The real showstopper, though, had to be Boyz II Men's 90-minute set, which left the entire room in a state of awe. Their three-part harmonies were, quite literally, tight – each note precision-crafted and utterly flawless. While not every song in their setlist was Christmas-centric, they tackled music from Prince to Bruno Mars with aplomb, showcasing an impressive range that belied their 30-year career.

While the production values weren't always the highest (technical glitches did occasionally mar the proceedings), no one left the Xmas Ball feeling anything less than glitter-covered and festive. As these legendary acts brought back the R&B of yesteryear with such flair, it was impossible not to be swept up in their infectious energy.

Ultimately, this was more than just a Christmas concert – it was an ode to a bygone era of music that continues to captivate audiences today. And if you're lucky enough to experience it in the flesh, you'll undoubtedly return home with memories that will last far beyond the festive season.

🎄🎵 Toni Braxton and Boyz II Men absolutely killed it at R&B Xmas Ball! I mean, Toni's emotional performance was EVERYTHING - she brought so much depth to her songs and got the whole crowd feeling her pain. And can we talk about those harmonies from Boyz II Men? It was like they were performing in perfect sync 😍🎤. The production might've been a bit wonky at times, but it didn't detract from the magic of their performance 🎉. I loved how they paid homage to Prince and Bruno Mars too - a total throwback vibe! If you got to see this in person, consider yourself lucky 💫...
