PATH Service Back in Operation After Suspicious Package Found Safe

The PATH train service has resumed normal operations between New Jersey and Manhattan after a suspicious package at the 14th Street station was deemed non-threatening by police. The Port Authority Police Department received reports of the item around 1:50pm on Monday, prompting an immediate response from the NYPD's bomb squad.

For nearly two hours, PATH suspended service on two uptown lines between Journal Square and Hoboken to 33rd Street, with residual delays reported later in the day. NJ Transit trains and the 126 bus continued to cross-honor PATH tickets during the disruption until 3:50pm, though this practice ended when service was restored.

The Port Authority Police Department confirmed that their investigation at the station remains ongoing, despite the bomb squad's clearance of the package as safe.

idk why they gotta keep suspending services like this... just because one suspicious package is found doesn't mean everything's okay . I'm all for safety and stuff, but it seems like it's always "better safe than sorry" nowadays . Can you believe it? PATH train service back to normal, just like old times I remember when 2008 was still a thing and we didn't have to worry about suspicious packages all the time. Nowadays, everything is so... cautious . Like, I'm glad no one got hurt or anything, but two hours without service? That's just too much for this anxious guy . I mean, what's the big deal about a suspicious package in the first place? Like, it's not like someone actually did try to blow up the train. The whole thing was just a precautionary measure, right? Just got back on the PATH train and I'm glad to see everything's back to normal . I mean, can you imagine if it was a real threat? But thankfully, the police were able to clear it out safely. Still a bit weird that the service had to be suspended for so long, but I guess better safe than sorry . And good on NJ Transit for offering free bus rides with PATH tickets - that's super helpful for commuters like me who have to transfer between trains .
