This is just devastating news . A life lost in such a tragic way . It's so sad that someone who needed help most would end up like this . The fact that she had ties to family members but they're not speaking about it now is really tough to take . We need to come together and support those struggling with addiction . Every life matters, no matter the circumstances . Police investigation will uncover all the facts, hopefully, justice will be served ๏ธ. Can't we just keep loving each other more ?
I'm really saddened to hear about Bonnie . It's just so tragic that someone struggling with addiction had to end up like this . The fact that her family is being tight-lipped about it because of the emotional toll makes sense, though. Can't imagine how hard this must be for them .
It's crazy that she was living on the streets, but still had a place to call home at one point . The city needs more support systems in place for people struggling with addiction and homelessness . Maybe we can learn from this tragedy and create more resources to help prevent similar cases . Let's keep Bonnie's memory alive by spreading awareness about mental health and addiction .
ugh this makes me think of my aunt who used to live on the streets when I was a kid... she told me that one time she had to sleep on someone's porch because she didn't have anywhere else to go like, can you even imagine? anyway, it's so sad for Bonnie and her family, i hope they get some closure soon . has anyone tried that new ramen place in the Village yet? heard great things about it
I mean, what a great way to spend your day... walking down the street and finding a dead body wrapped in a trash bag . Like, who needs a scenic stroll through Central Park when you can discover human remains on the sidewalk? It's not like East Harlem is already a tough neighborhood or anything .
I guess it's nice that the NYPD is "investigating" and all that jazz, but it feels like they're just going through the motions. I mean, 6:30 pm on Monday? That's when you usually go to yoga class, right? And poor Bonnie - who does that to someone? It's just so sad...
OMG, just saw this - homeless woman found dead in a trash bag in East Harlem... 35yo Bonnie Schulman-Rice lived on & off for years, had an address from 2018 tho . Guess it's estimated she died from overdose, no visible signs of trauma or struggle . MTA alerted NYPD after passerby reported suspicious package - investigation is ongoing . Stats: NYC homeless population is at a record high, with over 78k people experiencing homelessness in 2022 . Deaths like this one are heartbreaking... can we do more to support ppl struggling w/ addiction & housing crisis? . Did u know the average stay for someone in NYC shelters is only 6 months?! ๏ธ
This is what happens when people just give up on life . I mean, a woman living in the streets, struggling with addiction or whatever, and now she's just... gone . And it's not like anyone even noticed her until someone stumbled upon that trash bag on the sidewalk. Like, what kind of world are we living in? Where is everyone's humanity when it comes to these kinds of situations? I'm sure there were people walking around East Harlem who saw her every day and just pretended she wasn't there. It's not like this woman was invisible or anything . But hey, at least the NYPD is doing something about it... eventually .
