Just saw this news about NYC declaring a code blue for homeless outreach during the cold snap... feels kinda sad . Can't imagine having to brave those freezing temps and still be out on the streets. I hope they get the help they need ASAP . City's efforts seem like a good start, but it's just a Band-Aid solution, right? Those shelters might not be all they claim to be...
Ugh, I'm all about this "code blue" thing ... seems like a Band-Aid solution to me, but what's the root cause of homelessness in NYC anyway? We're talking about people living on the streets without access to basic necessities like warm clothes and shelter... shouldn't we be investing more in affordable housing instead of just throwing money at emergency services every time it snows? I mean, what's next? Declaring a "code red" for everyone struggling financially or finding stable employment? Where's the urgency to address systemic issues when it comes to poverty and inequality?
omg can u believe they're doing this? a code blue for homeless outreach in nyc? it's like, about time we step up our game here the weather is literally freezing and people are gonna get hurt if they don't have a warm place to go. i'm all for supporting our homeless community, but at least we're trying now lol. fingers crossed these services actually make a difference
