No REAL ID yet? You can still fly, but it may cost $45 without another form of accepted ID

Starting Sunday, US air travelers without a REAL ID or other accepted forms of identification will be charged $45 to verify their identity through the Transportation Security Administration's (TSA) ConfirmID process.

The TSA has implemented this new fee as part of its efforts to enforce compliance with federal security regulations. The fee is optional, but it can speed up the verification process and provide an added layer of security for airlines.

To access the TSA website and pay the fee, travelers will need to visit tsa.gov/ConfirmID and enter their legal name and travel dates. Payment methods accepted include debit and credit cards, Venmo, and PayPal.

Once the payment is made, passengers will receive a payment receipt via email, which they must show at airport checkpoints along with a government-issued ID. The TSA recommends that travelers pay the fee before arriving at the airport to minimize delays.

Travelers without a REAL ID or other accepted forms of identification are not exempt from paying the $45 fee. In fact, failing to comply may result in being turned away at airport security.

The REAL ID is a federally compliant state-issued license or identification card that meets enhanced requirements mandated after the 9/11 attacks. The ID features a white star on a yellow circle and has been required since May, but travelers without it were still allowed through security with extra screening and warnings.

It's worth noting that not all airlines may require passengers to show their REAL ID at check-in. Some airlines may accept other forms of identification, such as a passport or trusted traveler cards, in lieu of the REAL ID.

Overall, the $45 fee is an additional expense for air travelers who do not have a REAL ID or other accepted forms of identification. However, it can provide an added layer of security and speed up the verification process for airlines and airports.

Just had to pay my $45 fee on the TSA website lol πŸ€‘... now I'm good to go at the airport with my government-issued ID 😊. But seriously, gotta say, I'm a bit surprised that they're adding another cost to air travel without a REAL ID. It's like, we already have to deal with so much hassle when traveling, right? πŸ˜’.

I do think it's cool that they're trying to beef up security measures though πŸš”... and the fact that you can pay the fee online is super convenient πŸ’». Just hope there aren't too many people who get turned away at airport security because of this new fee... that'd be a real bummer 😞.

Also, I'm not sure if it's common knowledge yet, but does anyone know which airlines are gonna require REAL IDs at check-in? πŸ€”

😞 I feel like this new policy is gonna be super stressful for people already going through airport checks πŸš«πŸ’¨ especially those who don't have a REAL ID or other accepted forms of ID πŸ“πŸ‘€ $45 is still a pretty steep fee, you know? πŸ’Έ And what if they can't afford it? πŸ€• It's like, airlines and airports are already checking IDs for security, so this new fee feels like an added burden πŸš—πŸ’” What I wish is that they'd find ways to make the process easier for everyone, instead of adding more costs 😞

Ugh, I'm so sick of all these extra fees and hoops to jump through just to fly! 🀯 I mean, who thought it was a good idea to make air travel more expensive because some people can't be bothered to get a REAL ID? πŸ’Έ It's not like it's that hard to get one, but noooo, the government has to make it harder for everyone. And now we're getting charged $45 just to verify our identity? 🚫 That's just ridiculous!

And what's with all these payment options? Venmo and PayPal? Can't they just stick to debit and credit cards like a normal website? πŸ€” It's not like I'm trying to hide anything, so why do I need all these extra steps? And if I forget to pay before I go to the airport, what's gonna happen? Are they gonna turn me away at security? 😬 That's just not fair.

And don't even get me started on the airlines and airports that are gonna start charging more because of this new fee. It's just going to make air travel so much more expensive for everyone. πŸš€ I'm never flying again... just kidding, sorta πŸ˜‚

I'm low-key annoyed that I just found out I'm gonna be charged $45 extra to fly. Like, what's next? Is it gonna cost me more to breathe in? 🀣 But seriously, can't they just make it a requirement or something instead of adding another fee? It feels like we're being nickel-and-dimed to death at the airports. I mean, I get that security is important and all, but come on! A $45 fee seems excessive...

Umm I'm kinda torn about this πŸ€”... on one hand, having to pay $45 extra to get verified is pretty steep, even if it's just $45 πŸ’Έ... like, that's a whole day's worth of coffee or something... but at the same time, I guess it's better to be safe than sorry, you know? πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ Those white stars on IDs are kinda creepy, lol, but seriously though, if it means avoiding any extra hassle or delays, I can see why people would wanna shell out that cash πŸ’Έ... and yeah, airlines not requiring REAL IDs is sketchy, so maybe this fee is a good thing? πŸ€”

so its about to get expensive for people without real id lol πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ
imagine showin up at airport with no valid form of ID... thats like tryin to pass security without a superpower πŸ•ΈοΈ
but i guess its better to pay $45 now and avoid bein turned away than deal with extra screening later 😬
shouldnt airlines just check IDs before you even get on the plane tho? idk if that would work in practice tho πŸ€”
anyway, thinkin of a flowchart here... πŸ“ˆ

omg $45 is such a rip off lol what's next? they're gonna charge us to breathe on the plane? 🀣

seriously though, i get it security first but can't we just use our passports instead? that way everyone's already got proof of identity and stuff. and btw what's with the REAL ID not being accepted everywhere? is there a reason why some airlines are more strict than others?

anyway, idk if this fee will be worth it or just gonna add to my already expensive flights πŸ˜’

Umm, this is gonna be a pain... 🀯 So they're gonna charge us extra just to verify our identity? $45 seems like a lot, especially if we don't have that real ID thingy. I get why they wanna make sure we're who we say we are, but come on, can't they just make it easier for ppl? Maybe we could even get an app or something that checks our ID and tells us if we need to pay extra πŸ€”. And what's up with the airlines not having the same rules everywhere? It's like, I'll show you my passport at one airline, but not at another... πŸ˜’ I guess it's just more stuff for us travelers to keep track of... *sigh*

Ugh I'm so frustrated about this new rule 🀯. Can't they just make it easier for us instead of adding more fees? I mean, $45 is already a lot to pay for air travel, let alone an extra fee on top. And what's the point of paying it if we still have to show up at security checkpoints with our ID and risk being turned away anyway? 🚫 It just feels like another thing for them to nickel and dime us for.

And have you noticed how many people don't even carry a REAL ID anymore, especially since they started requiring it for boarding planes? What's the point of making things harder on us when we're already stressed about flying in general? 😩 I think this fee is just another example of how system can be slow to adapt and make life easier for everyone. πŸ™„

Ugh, this new fee is gonna be a real pain in the butt for ppl without a REAL ID πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ. I mean, come on, $45 just to verify their identity? It's like they're trying to make traveling more expensive than ever. And what if ppl can't afford it? Like, really can't? They'll be stuck at the airport with no way out 🚫. I'm all for security, but this feels like an extra revenue stream to me πŸ’Έ. Can't we just stick with the REAL ID or get some other form of ID that's easier to get? This just seems like another headache for air travelers πŸ‘Ž.

I'm like "wait, what's a REAL ID?" I've never heard of it before πŸ€”. Is it like a special passport? And why do I need to pay extra to show my ID at airport checkpoints? Can't they just check my face or something? πŸ˜‚ I mean, I know security is important and all, but $45 seems kinda steep. Maybe I'll just use my phone to prove who I am... πŸ“± is that allowed too?

I gotta say, this new fee by the TSA is like, super interesting πŸ€”. It makes me think about how we're all just trying to navigate these complex systems, right? And sometimes, it's not just about getting from point A to B, but also about showing our identity and credentials to move forward πŸ’Ό.

I mean, who doesn't love the feeling of being turned away at airport security? 😳 That's gotta be a real buzzkill. So yeah, paying that $45 fee might seem like an extra hassle, but think about it this way: it's like investing in your own safety and security πŸ›‘οΈ. We all need to feel secure and protected, especially when we're on the go ✈️.

It's not just about ourselves, though; it's also about how we can work together to create a more efficient system for everyone 🀝. I mean, some airlines might be okay with other forms of ID, but that doesn't mean we should all have to play by those rules 🚫. It's like, let's find a middle ground that works for everyone, you know? πŸ’•

omg u guys this is soooo crazy that us air travelers will be charged $45 to verify their identity now lol what if ppl cant afford it? like how are they gonna pay for a ticket and then another 45 bucks on top of it? πŸ€‘πŸ›«οΈ i guess its good that airlines can speed up the process but who's gonna enforce this tho? i mean, what happens if some ppl dont show up with their IDs at security? idk about me but i'm just worried about those people πŸ˜•πŸ’Έ
