England football captain Harry Kane has long expressed his desire to play in the NFL, and it seems that dream could become a reality. The Tottenham striker, 32, has been in talks with former Kansas City Chiefs punter Dustin Colquitt, who has offered to train him as a kicker.
Kane's interest in American football dates back to when he watched a documentary about Tom Brady in his youth, which inspired him to become a fan of the New England Patriots. He even attended the team's 2019 Super Bowl win and befriended Brady and Julian Edelman.
In 2023, Kane revealed that becoming an NFL kicker is "something I want to definitely explore" when he retires from football. He has a strong record in penalties, scoring 93 out of 105, but admits that the kicks required in the NFL are different.
Colquitt, who won the Super Bowl with the Chiefs in 2020, believes Kane would be a good candidate for an NFL career. "I would love to actually work with him just because I love soccer, and his excitement," Colquitt said. "He's seeking this out - that's part of the fibre of his being, that he wants to try this NFL thing."
Kane has been training with the Bayern Munich team while playing for England, and Colquitt thinks Kane would benefit from working with him. The punter noted that a kicker needs a good holder to support them, so if Kane is serious about pursuing an NFL career, he will need to find someone to train with.
The former Tottenham striker has already gained experience in the world of American football, having attended the Super Bowl and befriended Brady. With Colquitt's guidance, Kane may soon be trading his football boots for cleats.

I'm not sure why we're having to waste our time with this thread about Harry Kane wanting to play in the NFL. Like, he's a soccer player, what does that even have to do with us?

It's not like he's asking us for advice on how to improve his penalty skills or anything. And another thing, who is Dustin Colquitt supposed to be anyway? Just some random punter trying to make a name for himself by training a soccer player in the US.

he's always been a bit of an oddball, but this is something else! I mean, i get it, he loves american football and wants to try it out, but kicking in the nfl is super different from kicking in soccer. still, if he's got the drive to do it, more power to him

. Still, if anyone can pull it off, Kane seems like the right guy. And who knows, maybe he'll even get to meet Tom Brady again!
