New York Jets Defensive Back Kris Boyd Critical After Shooting in Manhattan

A 29-year-old defensive back for the New York Jets, Kris Boyd, was shot on Sunday morning and has been hospitalized in critical but stable condition, according to the NYPD. The shooting occurred just after 2 a.m. at 156 W. 38th Street in Midtown Manhattan, outside a restaurant.

The NYPD confirmed that a male victim was taken to Bellevue Hospital, where he remains under observation, although his life is not considered to be in imminent danger. Although the NYPD has not released the name of the victim, sources suggest it may be Kris Boyd, and the team has issued a statement expressing their awareness of the situation but no further comment.

The Jets did not play on Sunday as they had scheduled a bye week. However, they played a game on Thursday night against the New England Patriots, losing to them.

Kris Boyd signed with the Jets in March this year after signing a one-year contract worth $1.6 million. He has been absent from games since suffering a season-ending shoulder injury during an exhibition match in August.

Boyd played college football for the University of Texas and was drafted by the Minnesota Vikings as their seventh-round pick in 2019.

Man, this is crazy! 🤯 You gotta wonder how someone can just walk up to another person and start shooting. It's like, what are we doing as a society? 🤔 I mean, Kris Boyd was just living his life, playing football, trying to make a name for himself, and then BAM! This happens. It's like the system failed him or something.

And you know who else is worried about this guy's safety now that he's out of the hospital? The NFL is, no doubt about it. man that sucks 🤕 Kris Boyd is one of those guys you're always thinking "oh wait he's not getting a ton of snaps" but I guess it's not about that anymore, can't even play with a shoulder injury 😔 and now this? I remember when players like him were still in college playing big games on TV. Now they're dealing with injuries and shootings 🤯. It's crazy how fast the game changes. I just had the craziest dream last night 🤯... I was at a BBQ with all my friends, and someone brought this massive, juicy burger that looked like it belonged in a food truck 🍔👌. Anyway, back to Kris Boyd... dude's got some skills on the field, but what's up with all these injuries? 😞 just heard about Kris Boyd being shot, man... another day when we think everything is going great, something like this happens... I remember watching a Jets game back in '09 with my dad, and he's been a die-hard fan ever since 🏈💔. Kris was just trying to make a living playing football, now he's fighting for his life... it's crazy how quickly life can take a turn 🤯. I hope the medical team does everything they can to get him back on his feet 💪. It's times like these that remind us all to appreciate what we have and be grateful for those who are struggling 💕.
 
man, Kris Boyd's life is still on the line after that crazy shooting 🤕💉 he's one of those guys who made it this far in his career through hard work & dedication, only to have something like this happen to him 🤯 it's just sad, I feel for him & his family. and what's crazy is how quickly things changed for the Jets - they were just talking about how hyped they were after signing Boyd, now he's out with an injury, and then suddenly he's getting shot 💔 it's like the universe decided to take a different turn 🌌
