Federal Agents Detain Protesters Amid Controversy Over Minneapolis ICE Shooting.
Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem has found herself at the center of a heated debate after stating that the ICE officer involved in Wednesday's shooting incident had previously been attacked by an "anti-ICE rioter". The officer, whose identity remains unknown, sustained injuries during this June incident and was taken to hospital.
According to witnesses, the vehicle driven by Renee Good, 37, crashed into another car after multiple federal agents attempted to apprehend her. It is now believed that Good was shot in self-defense by the ICE officer.
Noem described Good's actions as "an act of domestic terrorism" and stated that federal officials have observed over 100 instances of vehicle rammings in just recent weeks, with three occurring in Minneapolis on Wednesday alone. However, Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey has disputed this narrative, labeling it "bulls**t".
The President's office has sided with the Homeland Security Secretary, stating that it "seems" the officer shot Good in self-defense. Noem also claimed that Governor and Mayor allowed Minneapolis to "burn before", without providing any evidence.
As tensions continue to rise, federal agents have detained several protesters who were involved in Wednesday's demonstrations.
