MetroCard, NYC’s tricky subway swipe card, dead at 34

The metrocard was never really great lol 😂 i mean its cool how they're switching it out with omny but like some ppl are saying it's not gonna be the same 🤔 I'm kinda down for change tho, gotta admit the old system was pretty frustrating at times when you'd just swipe and swipes wouldnt work 💸. But omny seems to have more of an integrated feel to it, so hopefully thats a step in the right direction 🚀

OMG u guys r gonna miss the MetroCard so much 🤯 it was like an iconic part of our daily lives in NYC! I remember my grandma had to get a special card for her walker thingy back in 2002 lol. And can we talk about how the new OMNY system is just so... basic? 😴 where's the charm in that? 🎉 I mean, it worked because it was imperfect and made us interact with our city on a deeper level, you know? The MetroCard was like a rite of passage for me growing up - every summer my friends & i would get an unlimited pass for 30 days and just explore the whole city all day erryday 🌴💨. And what's sad is that it just got taken away without any fanfare 🎂.

🚂 omg i'm kinda sad that the metrocard is gone its been around for so long and had so many quirks lol like who can forget trying to get it working on a sunday morning or having to deal with the stupid 7-day rule 🤦‍♂️ anyway idc about omny it sounds like itll be fine im just excited to see what they do next for nycs transit system maybe something more sustainable? 🌎

omg cant believe theyre retiring metrocard after all these years 🙁 still remember the pain of getting my card stuck in the machine lol 🤣 but i gotta admit, omny does seem a bit too new age for my taste 🚫 at least we got some nostalgic value out of it being involved in hillarys campaign 😂 anyway, its cool that theyre keeping old cards usable till 2024 thats gonna be weird 👀 cant wait to see how this all plays out
