Metra BNSF train strikes vehicle in Hinsdale, woman injured

Woman Suffering from "Very Minor" Injuries After Being Struck by Train in Hinsdale.

A woman was involved in a train accident when an inbound Metra BNSF line train struck her vehicle at the Monroe Street crossing on Monday. According to police, she sustained only minor injuries and was taken to Hinsdale Hospital for treatment.

Details of the incident are limited, but authorities confirmed that the woman was alone in the vehicle. The crash occurred around noon and lasted long enough to halt both inbound and outbound trains until approximately 1:15 p.m. Fortunately, rush hour commuters will not be affected by the disruption this evening, as Metra has assured passengers that service should resume normally.

In a rare instance of human error at a traffic crossing, the lone occupant of the vehicle was left shaken but fortunately without life-threatening injuries.

Train incidents are just crazy 🚨🤯. Glad she's okay, only minor injuries? That still sounds super scary and frustrating for someone who just wants to go about their day without worrying about getting hit by a train 😬. Monroe Street crossing should really be looked into, maybe some safety upgrades or something? Like, I get it accidents can happen but it's just one of those things that makes you wonder if there's more that could've been done 🤔.

😊 I just got a new phone and I'm still getting used to it... anyway, train accidents are crazy! Like, how does someone even forget that a train is coming? 🤯 I mean, I get scared on buses sometimes when they're stopping suddenly, but trains are whole other level of scary! But glad the lady was okay, though... just a few bumps and bruises, huh? 🤕 Does anyone know what kind of training Metra has for their drivers? Shouldn't they be able to avoid these kinds of accidents? Just curious...

I gotta say, "minor" is a pretty generous term for what I'm seeing here... 🤔 Like, are they not checking her MRI results or something? Minor injuries from getting struck by a train? That's like saying you only got a paper cut from a broken glass and calling it a minor incident. Come on, authorities gotta be honest with us - what exactly did this woman get? And why was she at the crossing in the first place? Shouldn't there have been some way to prevent this? Train safety is no joke, folks... 😬

omg what if she hadnt been so lucky 🤞!! i mean only minor injuries?! thats still super scary! and poor her for being alone in that car lol, you gotta be extra careful when crossing those train tracks 🚂😅 anyway, glad to hear its not too bad and trains are back on track (no pun intended 😂) this is like, one of those moments where u just sit there thinking "why did she even stop at that light in the first place?" 😂

🚨 train-related incidents are still super sketchy - I mean who gets hit by a train, right? 🤯 it's just so random and unpredictable... like what even is the probability of that happening to someone? 🤷‍♀️ anyway, glad she's alright though, major props for that. but seriously though, shouldn't there be more safety measures at those crossings, you know? like cameras or something to prevent these kinds of accidents from happening in the first place? 📸🚫 just saying...

OMG, I'm so glad to hear she's okay 🙏! One minute you're going about your day, and the next thing you know, a train just... whoosh! It's crazy how something like that can happen in an instant 😱. Minor injuries, though? That's a huge relief 💸. Hope she's getting the help she needs and is taking care of herself right now 💕. Such a close call, I can only imagine how shaken she must be 😩. Fingers crossed everything works out for her! 🤞

train accidents are so avoidable and yet they still happen it's crazy that people don't take pedestrian safety seriously like we do with our own lives i mean imagine being struck by a train even if it's just minor lol what if it wasn't minor what would be the point of having a crossing if you're not gonna use it 🤦‍♀️ anyway glad the woman is okay but can we talk about how many people are hurt in these incidents every year? shouldnt our roads be safer by now 🚧💔
