Medusa celebrates grand opening in Detroit’s Midtown - Detroit Metro Times

Detroit's Midtown Just Got a Taste of the Mediterranean with Medusa's Grand Opening

A new restaurant has taken up residence in Detroit's vibrant Midtown neighborhood, bringing with it the bold flavors and rich history of Sicily. Medusa, the latest venture from renowned Italian chef Anthony Lombardo, co-owner of acclaimed SheWolf Pastificio & Bar, officially opened its doors on Thursday at 664 Selden St.

Lombardo's vision for Medusa is to transport diners to the sun-kissed Mediterranean coast through the simple yet vibrant cuisine. "The food's simple: olive oil, capers, olives, tomatoes, anchovies," he revealed in an interview with Hour Detroit magazine last year. "We're going to tell the story of Sicily through our menu, through our service and our hospitality, and hopefully teach everyone about the uniqueness of this very special place."

While the restaurant's space has seen its fair share of concept changes over the years, Medusa is looking to put down roots in Midtown with its Mediterranean-inspired dishes. To make a reservation, guests can visit medusa-detroit.com.

With Lombardo at the helm, there's no shortage of excitement for foodies and newcomers alike. Will Medusa live up to the expectations set by its esteemed predecessor? Only time will tell, but one thing is certain – Detroit's Midtown has just become an even more exciting culinary destination.

omg i'm so down for medusa to open in detroit midtown! 🤩 italian food always hits the spot and a taste of sicily sounds amazing! 🍝 i love that they're going for a simple yet vibrant cuisine, it's like a breath of fresh air after all the fancy-schmancy restaurants. can't wait to try it out and learn more about sicilian culture through their food and service 🤗 also, 664 selden st is literally right next to my fave bookstore, now i have even more reason to explore midtown 👍

I'm super stoked that Medusa's finally open in Midtown! Anthony Lombardo's vision for bringing Sicily's flavors to our city sounds amazing 🤩. I mean, who doesn't love a good plate of olives and capers? But, gotta say, I'm a bit skeptical about the food being "simple" - I've tried some pretty complex Italian dishes in my time, and I know that simplicity can be just as impressive with a little creativity 😊. That being said, I'm all for trying new things, especially when it comes to supporting local businesses and getting a taste of something fresh! Can't wait to see what Medusa's got in store 🍴👌

🍴 Just got wind that Medusa's opened in Midtown and I'm totally stoked! Anthony Lombardo's vision for a taste of Sicily in the D sounds like just what we need to spice up our food scene 🌶️. The menu's simple yet rich, and I love how he's aiming to share the unique story of Sicily through his dishes and hospitality 📚. Can't wait to try it out! Has anyone been? 👀

I'm super stoked that Medusa just opened in Midtown! I mean, who doesn't love a good dose of Mediterranean vibes? 😊 Anthony Lombardo's vision for the restaurant sounds so cool - taking you on a journey through Sicily with every bite is such an amazing idea. And let's be real, Italian food is always a winner in my books! The fact that they're highlighting unique aspects of Sicilian cuisine is really refreshing. I'm defo checking it out ASAP and seeing what all the fuss is about 🤔👌

just had a hankerin' for some good ol' italian food and heard medusa just opened in detroit's midtown 🍝👌 sounds like anthony lombardo is bringing the real deal, with flavors that'll transport you to the mediterranean coast 🌊 i'm not sure what to expect but given his background at she wolf pastificio & bar, i'm thinkin' this place is gonna be on point 👍 gotta try it out and see for myself, any foodies got any insider info? 😁

I don’t usually comment but I had to try out this new restaurant in Midtown 🍴💛 and OMG it was love at first bite! The owner Anthony Lombardo is like a godsend for Detroit’s food scene, his Sicilian vibes are so unique and deliciously simple... I mean who doesn’t love olives and capers right? 😂 And the atmosphere is super cozy and inviting, perfect for dates or just a night out with friends. I can already imagine Medusa becoming my new fave spot 🤩

i'M SO STOKED TO HEAR ABOUT MEDUSA!!! it sounds like they're gonna bring that authentic mediterranean vibe to detroit and i am HERE FOR IT!!! i mean, who doesn't love a good ol' fashioned plate of pasta with some crispy anchovies on top?? lol. seriously though, anthony lombardo's vision is so cool - taking diners on a culinary journey through sicily sounds like an amazing experience! can't wait to try it out and see how they execute on their promise 🤩🍝

OMG 🤯 I'm telling you, this whole "Mediterranean" vibe in Midtown is like a Trojan horse 🐎, ya know? One minute it's hipster bars and breweries the next, suddenly we've got Italian restaurants serving capers and olives... what's next? 🤔 They're probably gonna start playing classical music to cover up some sorta sinister government experiment or something 💸 I mean, have you seen that new highway they just built downtown? It looks like a straight line to nowhere 🚗. Mark my words, Medusa is just the tip of the iceberg...

omg i'm low-key freaking out over medusa!!! 🤯 their menu sounds SO on point, like who doesn't love a good ol' plate of capers and anchovies? 💦 i mean, it's not like i haven't been to my fair share of italian restaurants in detroit (hello, she wolf pastificio & bar!), but this one has me hyped. the fact that anthony lombardo is at the helm just adds to the excitement - he's got a rep for being all about authentic sicilian cuisine. can't wait to try it out and see if medusa lives up to the hype 🤞

I'm thinkin' this Medusa place is more than just a restaurant 🤔... I mean, have you seen that address 664 Selden St? Sounds suspiciously like it's been chosen for its proximity to the old city hall building where they supposedly stored all those classified documents from the '70s and '80s. And Anthony Lombardo, huh? He's got connections, if you ask me... might be a sleeper agent or somethin' 🕵️‍♂️. I'm not sayin' it's a bad thing, but when chefs start talkin' about transportin' people to the Mediterranean coast with their food, it just seems like too good a story to be true 😏.

omg I'm so down for trying out medusa!! 🤩 their menu sounds like a taste explosion - simple yet vibrant is def a vibe i can get behind! 💚 I love how anthony lombardo wants to transport us to the mediterranean coast with his food, it's so cool that he's passionate about sharing sicily's uniqueness through his restaurant. 🌊 as for reservations, their website looks super easy peasy - just gotta check out medusa-detroit.com and make a booking! 👍 I'm def keeping an eye on this place, fingers crossed it'll live up to the hype and become a fave spot in midtown detroit

omg i was soooo hyped when i heard medusa was opening!! finally a place that can satisfy my pasta and seafood cravings in detroit! anthony lombardo's skills are no joke, she wolf pastificio & bar is like my second home lol. the fact that he brought his vision of sardinia to midtown is genius. i'm def gonna try their famous pasta dishes and cannoli for dessert. anyone else been to medusa yet?

Ugh, I know some people are gonna love this but I think it's kinda weird that a new restaurant comes in and tries to take over someone else's spot 🤔. I mean, SheWolf was already doing well and now it's like Anthony Lombardo is trying to replace it? It feels like he's more worried about being famous again than actually supporting the community.

And don't even get me started on the food - simple olive oil, capers, olives... that's not a menu, that's just a bucket of snacks 🍿. Where's the creativity? I'm all for trying new things but this feels like they're just copying someone else's style without putting in any effort.

Still, I guess if you're into that sorta thing, Medusa might be worth checking out 👀. But for me, I'll stick to SheWolf and see how it compares 🤷‍♀️.

I'm super stoked about Medusa opening in Midtown! I mean, who doesn't love a good taste of Italy in the D? Anthony Lombardo's vision for bringing Sicily to life on our plates is exactly what this city needs. And let's be real, Detroit's food scene has been missing that authentic, Mediterranean vibe 🤯. I'm low-key hoping they'll have some traditional cannoli for dessert (I mean, it's Medusa, right? 🍰). What I love about Lombardo's approach is how he wants to share the story of Sicily through his food – it's not just about the dishes, but about the culture and history behind them. Fingers crossed Medusa will become a Detroit staple!

Ugh 🤯 I'm so done with all these trendy restaurants popping up in Midtown! Can't they just stick to what works instead of trying to reinvent the wheel? 😒 I mean, who thought it was a good idea to bring authentic Mediterranean cuisine to Detroit? We're a city of Coney dogs and square pizza, for crying out loud! 🍔🍕 But hey, if Anthony Lombardo is willing to put in the work and share the story of Sicily through food, I'll give him a chance. Maybe it's just what this neighborhood needs – something to set it apart from all the chain restaurants and hipster bars 🤷‍♂️. Only time will tell if Medusa will live up to its promise, but for now, I'm skeptical 😐.

I'm loving this new spot in Midtown! The thought of Anthony Lombardo bringing a taste of Sicily to our city is super exciting 🤩. I mean, who doesn't love a good ol' fashioned Mediterranean feast? The idea that he's trying to teach people about the uniqueness of Sicily through food and service is actually really cool too. It's not just about throwing some feta cheese on a plate and calling it a day – Lombardo's got a vision and I'm hyped to see how it all comes together 🍴. Detroit's culinary scene just got a whole lot more interesting!

OMG, I'm so down for trying out Medusa! That menu sounds like a flavor explosion 🍴🌟 I love how they're focusing on simple yet vibrant cuisine to tell the story of Sicily. Anthony Lombardo's passion project is definitely going to bring some serious life to Detroit's Midtown scene 😊 Can't wait to dive into their Mediterranean-inspired dishes and support another amazing venture from SheWolf Pastificio & Bar 👍

I'm intrigued by Anthony Lombardo's vision to share the unique story of Sicily through food 🍝. The simplicity of his approach, focusing on classic Mediterranean ingredients like olive oil and capers, could be a breath of fresh air in Detroit's dining scene. I'm also impressed that he's committed to putting down roots in Midtown, rather than just being a fleeting concept. It'll be fascinating to see how Medusa evolves and whether it lives up to the hype surrounding Lombardo's previous ventures. With its Mediterranean-inspired dishes, I hope Medusa brings a taste of la dolce vita to our city 🌞.
