Matvei Michkov scores again, but Flyers fall to Oilers in OT

The Philadelphia Flyers suffered a tough loss in overtime against the Edmonton Oilers, 2-1. The decisive moment came when officials deemed Owen Tippett entered the offensive zone too early, negating Travis Konecny's apparent game-winner.

In the first period, Matvei Michkov found his form again, covering more ice and pressuring puck carriers. He created opportunities for the Flyers but broke through in the second to level the score at 1-1 on a power-play goal. Michkov has now scored in three consecutive games and is up to nine points through 16 games.

The Oilers came out eager to play fast, while the Flyers matched their pace. Matvei Michkov's unit got into good position, but ultimately the Oilers created more scoring chances. Connor McDavid had a chance to wrap around from behind the Philadelphia net and set up Evan Bouchard for a clear shot in front.

The Flyers struggled to generate effective scoring chances in the second period, until they went on a power play with Jake Walman's hooking penalty. Michkov was given space along the wall by Edmonton's penalty kill and fired a shot past Stuart Skinner's glove to tie the game at 1-1.

However, the Flyers' energy began to wane toward the end of the first period, giving the Oilers an advantage in shots on goal. Tyson Foerster returned from injury and played a crucial role with Noah Cates and Bobby Brink on their line.

The penalty kill also shone, going 2-for-2 against Edmonton's power plays throughout the game. Dan Vladar was stellar in net, cutting down angles and keeping bounces under control to stop 29 of 30 shots through regulation.

In the third period, Trent Frederic's attempt to chip a pass resulted in a collision with Vladar, earning him a goaltender interference penalty. Mattias Janmark drew Vladar's ire and earned an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty, while Vladar himself was given a roughing minor after the scrum broke out.

In the end, the Flyers' inability to capitalize on their late power play proved costly, as the Oilers emerged victorious in overtime with Jack Roslovic scoring the winner.

oh man 🀯 the flyers are like totally crushing it in terms of team defense πŸ˜… dan vladar is a total lifesaver πŸ™ cutting down angles and all that jazz πŸ’‘ meanwhile matvei michkov is on fire πŸ”₯ scoring 3 goals in a row and looking like the real MVP πŸ† but that one late power play was just meh πŸ˜’ they gotta step it up if they wanna win those games πŸ’ͺ and what's with the refs sometimes? πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ Owen tippett gets called for an early zone entry and that game is over 🚫

man that game was crazy 😱 owen tippett got robbed i think he came in before the puck but u guys are right refs made a bad call. michkov's been on fire tho 9 points in 16 games is nuts! he and his line gotta keep it up for philly

Omg I'm still reeling from that crazy game! 😲 The Flyers had me on the edge of my seat when Michkov scored that beauty on the power play 🀩. And can we talk about Dan Vladar's performance in net? πŸ™Œ He was like a wall, totally shutting down the Oilers' chances. But that last power play was just heartbreaking - I was thinking for sure they were gonna take it to OT πŸ˜”. Poor Travis Konecny, that no-call on Owen Tippett was a total bummer πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ. Anyways, the Oilers got lucky and took it in overtime πŸ’ͺ. Can't wait to see what the rest of the season holds for the Flyers! πŸ“Ί

OMG, what a game!!! 🀯 I'm so hyped about Matvei Michkov's comeback! He's on fire right now πŸ”₯ 9 points in just 16 games is insane! The way he found his form again and created those chances for the Flyers was sick 😲 Travis Konecny's game-winner would've been a huge momentum booster, but that early call against Owen Tippett was pure bad luck ⚠️ The Oilers' speed and scoring chances were too much for the Flyers to handle in the end πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ Dan Vladar was on fire in net tho πŸ™Œ his glove save from Evan Bouchard's shot was INSANE 🎯

ugh man i was so close with michkovs goal in the 2nd period 😩 he's on fire right now and it would've been awesome if we could've capitalized on that powerplay but oh well πŸ€• the penalty kill was solid tho, dan vladar is a beast in net πŸ™Œ and tyson foerster came out of nowhere with his return from injury πŸ‘

πŸ€” The Flyers' loss is a great learning experience for them, especially in terms of managing time and spatial awareness πŸ•°οΈ. Owen Tippett's mistake was a costly one, but it also showed that the Oilers are still vulnerable to defensive lapses πŸ”’. Matvei Michkov has been on fire lately and his chemistry with the team is undeniable ⚑️. However, their inability to capitalize on late power play opportunities was a turning point in the game ⏰. The Oilers' speed and aggression were on full display, but so was the Flyers' resilience πŸ”΄. Dan Vladar's performance was outstanding, but he needs to draw more lines to prevent these kinds of scrums 🚫. All in all, it was a well-played game by both teams, with plenty of excitement and drama ⚑️.

πŸ˜• I just don't get why they can't score when they're up a man! πŸ€” The Flyers were so close, but couldn't capitalize on that last power play. I know Dan Vladar was amazing between the pipes, but you gotta give the Oilers credit for getting that goal off in OT πŸ’οΈ. Michkov's been on fire lately, but sometimes his line just can't seem to get it done when it matters most πŸ˜”. And what's with all these penalties? I know hockey's a physical game, but sometimes I feel like they're just trying to wear each other down πŸ’ͺ.

πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ what's up with the refs tonight? Owen Tippett gets sent off for nothin', but Travis Konecny gets robbed of his goal 😑. I mean, come on guys! Make a call already! ⏰ The Flyers were all over the Oilers in the 2nd period, and then just kinda... stopped πŸ’¦. And don't even get me started on Dan Vladar, he's like a brick wall out there 🚧, but sometimes you gotta make that one save to change the momentum of the game πŸ€”. Anyways, congrats to Edmonton on their win, but I'm still salty about that call πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

ugh i'm so sorry to be commenting this late lol 3 games too late πŸ™ˆ anyway matvei michkov is a total game changer for the flyers he's finally clicking with the team and it's awesome to see him breaking through 🀩 i think his unit being in good position against the Oilers was really key, but they just couldn't capitalize on their chances πŸ€• dan vladar is literally the real MVP right now though, his glove work in that game was insane πŸ™Œ

I'm not sure what's going on here... how can they negate Travis Konecny's apparent game-winner? That seems sketchy to me πŸ€” Did someone get caught up in a conspiracy theory about officials favoring Oilers players? I need to see the replays and some video analysis before I accept this explanation.

Matvei Michkov is on fire, but nine points in 16 games feels like an anomaly. Is he just getting lucky or is there something going on with his line that's contributing to his scoring streak?

The Flyers' power play unit looked promising, especially when it got into good position against the Oilers' penalty kill. But somehow they couldn't capitalize. Did their energy wane because of fatigue or was it a tactical decision to try and conserve energy for the late power play? More context needed here πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

Man I'm still reppin' the Flyer's πŸ¦…πŸ’” I know they had a tough loss but that call against Tippett was bs 😑 I mean come on, how hard is it to see when someone is entering the zone? It's not like he just walked in there and started celebrating like it was no big deal 🀣 Michkov's been on fire though πŸ”₯ 9 points in 16 games is no joke! He's gotta keep that up if they wanna make a run in the playoffs. And Vladar's goalie skills are unreal πŸ’« He made some sick saves out there and kept them in the game even when it seemed like all hope was lost πŸ™Œ

I'm telling you, this game had some major fishy vibes 🐟. I mean, have you seen the way that OT goal went down? It's like they just decided to throw a penalty and end the game on a whim. And what's up with Dan Vladar getting all the roughing calls? He's playing solid defense out there, but suddenly he's the one getting into scraps? πŸ€” I'm starting to think this whole " refs are corrupt" thing is more than just a theory...
