Man, 78, found fatally shot in Garfield Ridge

A 78-year-old man met a fatal end in his own home Tuesday night, as police discovered him shot and unresponsive in the chest. The victim was found at approximately 8:01 p.m. in the 4500 block of South Lamon Avenue in Garfield Ridge, leaving behind only one piece of evidence that no one had been apprehended by Chicago authorities regarding his death.

I'm still trying to wrap my head around this one ๐Ÿ˜•. An elderly man finds himself a victim of violence in the own home, and it's just shocking. I mean, who expects that kind of thing to happen, right? The police are stumped, with no leads or suspects at all ๐Ÿค”. It's like they're saying, "Hey, we've got nothing." Not good for the family, not good for the community.

I'm all for getting to the bottom of this, but I gotta wonder if we're just seeing another case of gun violence that fell through the cracks ๐Ÿ’ฅ. Chicago's been dealing with these issues for years, and it feels like they need more support from everyone - the police, the government, us as citizens ๐Ÿ‘Š. One life lost is too many, you know? It's time to take action and find some real solutions ๐Ÿค.

๐Ÿค• another senseless life lost to gun violence... it's just heartbreaking to think about this poor guy at home alone with no one there to comfort him... 78 is old enough to have lived a good life, made memories with loved ones, but instead he ends up like this ๐Ÿ™. and what really gets me is that the only clue left behind is that no one's been arrested yet? it feels like the system's failed him at this point ๐Ÿ˜”. what's going on in our city?! ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ how many more lives have to be lost before we take action to prevent these senseless shootings? ๐Ÿšซ๐Ÿ’”

I'm shocked this is still happening ๐Ÿคฏ. All these smart home devices and security systems we're told are gonna keep us safe but it looks like they're just another way for us to feel like we're in control when really we're not. I mean, what's the point of having a camera that can see everything if there's no one around to do anything about it? ๐Ÿค” The cops seem stumped and honestly I'm kinda surprised. They should be using all this tech to catch the guy who did this instead of just sitting on their hands. And what's with the lack of witnesses or surveillance footage? It's like he just vanished into thin air ๐Ÿ’€. Anyway, just a thought - maybe we need to take a step back and reevaluate how we're relying on these new-fangled gadgets to keep us safe...

๐Ÿค• So sad to hear about this tragic incident... it's like, you're just living your life and then suddenly something like this happens ๐ŸŒƒ 78 is old, but still gotta be a young soul right? left behind no leads, that's not fair ๐Ÿ˜” I wonder if the police are getting any help from other agencies or experts to investigate. Hopefully they find out who did this and bring them to justice ๐Ÿ’ผ it's just so frustrating when you're left with nothing but questions... like what could've led to someone doing something so hurtful? ๐Ÿค

๐Ÿ˜” this is just devastating news, another life lost to violence and senseless tragedy... a 78-year-old man, living in his own home, just trying to enjoy the quiet evening hours, and yet his life was cut short in an instant... it's heartbreaking that there's no one holding accountable for this crime ๐Ÿค•. can we imagine how his loved ones are feeling right now? so much pain, so much sorrow... my heart goes out to them, may they find some comfort in the midst of all this grief ๐Ÿ’”. and what really gets me is that no leads, no suspects, just a void left behind by this tragic event ๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ. it's a reminder that we still have a long way to go in making our communities safer and more compassionate for everyone ๐Ÿ™.

Man... this is just so sad ๐Ÿค•. I was browsing through some old family pics and came across a pic of my grandpa when he was 78, not much older than the fella who passed away recently. It's crazy how fast time flies, you know? One day he's still playing with his grandkids, and next thing you know, he's gone ๐Ÿ’”.

And this poor guy in Chicago, left all alone... no leads, no suspects... it's just so frustrating ๐Ÿคฏ. I remember watching some true crime shows back in the day (LOL, those were the days) and how they always managed to catch the bad guys within hours of the incident. But I guess technology's changed a lot since then.

Anyway, my heart goes out to his family... can't imagine how hard this must be for them ๐Ÿค—. We should all take a moment to think about our own loved ones and the people who might be struggling right now ๐Ÿ’•.

๐Ÿค” This whole thing smells fishy to me... I mean, what's up with the fact that there's literally nothing concrete on who could've done this? No surveillance footage, no witnesses, no leads whatsoever? It's like they're trying to sweep it under the rug or something ๐Ÿšฎ. And 78 years old, just lying in his own home, shot in the chest... it's like a scene straight out of a movie. I'm not saying it was murder for murder's sake, but there's gotta be more to this story than what they're letting on ๐Ÿ”. What if the victim stumbled upon something he wasn't supposed to know? Or what if someone wanted him dead and took the time to make it look like a robbery gone wrong? I'm not saying it's all conspiracy theories (although, let's be real, they often are ๐Ÿ˜), but this whole thing just feels off.

ugh, this is so senseless ๐Ÿ˜”. like, what's the point of even havin a police force if they can't even solve these kinda murders? ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ it's not like this guy was some kinda threat to society or somethin'. he just got shot in his own home and no one even botherd to catch the person who did it ๐Ÿ˜’. i mean, i get it, crime rates are bad and all, but can't we just take care of our own people for once? ๐Ÿค this is just so frustrating ๐Ÿ™„. and what's with the whole evidence thing tho? like, a single piece of evidence that no one found? that don't make no sense ๐Ÿค”. i guess that's just how it goes sometimes ๐Ÿ˜”. anywayz, my heart go out to his fam ๐Ÿ‘.

๐Ÿค• This is a really tough case to crack, and it's frustrating for everyone involved - the family, police, and the community. I mean, 8:01 p.m. is pretty late, right? So what was going on that night? Was he at home alone, or did someone visit him? And what's with this one piece of evidence not being enough to get a suspect arrested? ๐Ÿค”

It's like, if you're gonna kill someone in your own home, shouldn't there be more proof than just... nothing? ๐Ÿ˜• I'm sure the police are doing everything they can, but it feels like they're running out of leads. And what about the family - are they getting any answers? That must be really tough for them right now.

I guess this is a reminder that sometimes these cases take time to solve, and we just have to wait and see how it all plays out. But still, it's hard not to wonder what could've been done differently... ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ

๐Ÿค” just read about this older guy who got shot to death at home and it's wild how little info there is... like, what even led up to him getting killed? did he have any enemies? ๐Ÿšจ police are stumped, huh? one bullet wound in the chest and that's it. one witness must've come forward but nobody's talking ๐Ÿค guess we'll never know for sure what happened in those last few hours of his life ๐Ÿ’” it's always sad when someone dies like this...

๐Ÿค• This is just heartbreaking man. You'd think that with all the advancements we have in technology and law enforcement, we still can't keep ourselves safe from gun violence. I feel for the poor guy's family who's gotta go through this traumatic time ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ. It's not just about the physical pain, but also the emotional toll it takes on loved ones. We need to find ways to prevent these tragedies from happening in the first place. Mental health support and education are key ๐Ÿ’ก. Let's keep talking about gun safety and finding solutions that work for everyone ๐Ÿค.

๐Ÿ˜” it's crazy how a life can be cut short like that... you'd think with all the advancements we have in technology and law enforcement, we should be able to catch these kind of cases a lot sooner ๐Ÿ•ต๏ธโ€โ™‚๏ธ. but at the end of the day, it's just one person's story, and it's devastating for their loved ones ๐Ÿ’”. i think what's most puzzling is that no one was around the house when he died, so there's no witness to speak of ๐Ÿ‘€. it just leaves a lot of unanswered questions ๐Ÿค”... but i guess we can only hope that the police will get some new leads and bring justice to his family ๐Ÿ’ช

Man... this is a really tough one ๐Ÿค•. I mean, you've got to be thinking about the victim's family and friends who are dealing with the loss of their loved one right now. It's just so sad that it had to end like that - all alone in his own home. Can't imagine how scary it must have been for him in those last moments ๐Ÿคฏ.

But, you know, I've been reading about some of the initiatives the city is taking to help older adults stay safe and connected at home, and that's a really good thing ๐Ÿ’ก. Maybe this tragedy can be an opportunity for us to think about how we can all support each other in our communities - whether it's checking in on neighbors or having those tough conversations with family members.

It's just one of those things that makes you realize how precious life is, and how important it is to look out for each other ๐Ÿ’•.

๐Ÿšจ๐Ÿ’” Like, did you see this stats on gun violence in Chicago? In 2022, we saw a 15% increase in homicides compared to the previous year ๐Ÿ“‰๐Ÿšซ And it's crazy how one life is lost every 12 hours ๐Ÿ•ฐ๏ธ... just imagine if that victim had more than 1 piece of evidence left behind ๐Ÿ”๐Ÿ’ก. According to FBI data, 75% of all firearm-related homicides involve a handgun ๐Ÿ”ซ... I mean what can we do about it? ๐Ÿค”

Here's some context on police response times in Chicago:

๐Ÿšจ Average response time: 11 minutes
๐Ÿ˜ด 30% of emergency calls don't get a response within that timeframe ๐Ÿ•ฐ๏ธ
๐Ÿ’ผ $1.5 billion annual budget for public safety... how are we using it? ๐Ÿ’ธ

Chicago's firearm homicide rate is 2nd highest in the US ๐Ÿ“Š๐Ÿšซ And the stats on mental health services are concerning too: only 12% of Chicagoans have access to mental health care ๐Ÿค

๐Ÿ˜” this is so sad... i know ppl think he mustve done something to deserve it, but we dont no the whole story ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ... maybe he was just having a bad day or struggling with somethin personal ๐Ÿ’”... police are still tryin to piece together what happened & find out who did this ๐Ÿ’ช... one life lost is always tragic ๐Ÿ˜ข... we gotta be careful not 2 jump 2 conclusions or assume ppl r guilty till proven ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ... sometimes it's the ones who r struggling in silence who need our help & understanding most ๐ŸŒŸ

๐Ÿค• my heart goes out to this poor guy's family ๐Ÿ™ they dont deserve such a tragic end at 78 its like he was still got so much life left in him and all of a sudden...๐Ÿ˜ฑ it just feels like a senseless loss of life. i mean we should be able to feel safe in our own homes, you know? where can we go if our own family cant protect us? ๐Ÿ’” anyway, i hope the cops do get something soon... one piece of evidence sounds super frustrating ๐Ÿ˜’ i just wish they could've caught whoever did this before it was too late ๐Ÿ•ฐ๏ธ

just saw this and it's so sad... can't believe a guy who's still got life left in him has to lose it like that ๐Ÿค•. i mean, you'd think with all the security cameras around, someone would've seen or heard something. but nope, nothing. just a guy shot and left for dead ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ. what if his loved ones get some kinda closure? ๐Ÿ™ hope they get justice soon ๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™‚๏ธ. this city's got enough crime problems without adding to it ๐Ÿ’”.

Man, this is so sad ๐Ÿค•... like what even is left to think about when someone passes away like that? It's just a random night, someone comes home, and it's over. No closure, no answers... it's like the universe just decides to take them away from us. I keep thinking about how we all have our own moments of desperation, our own breaking points, and sometimes they're not even realized until it's too late.

It makes me wonder if that 78-year-old guy was struggling with something he couldn't talk about, or had someone in his life who didn't know what to do... It's easy to just write him off as a statistic now, but I'm sure there are stories behind every single death. We should be asking ourselves more questions than just "who did it?"... like, what drove this guy to the edge? How can we help prevent these kinds of situations in the future?

๐Ÿค• just heard about this poor guy... feels like there's gotta be more to it than what we know. Like, did he have any enemies or was it a robbery gone wrong? ๐Ÿค‘ the fact that only 1 piece of evidence is left is weird too... hope they catch who did this ASAP ๐Ÿ’” anyway, can't help but think about how mental health affects us all. 78 years old and still dealing with stuff ๐Ÿ˜• we should really look out for each other more ๐Ÿค btw, have you guys listened to that podcast "Hidden Brain" on NPR? they just dropped a new ep on decision-making... ๐Ÿ‘‰ https://www.npr.org/sections hiddenbrain/2023/02/06/1144241130/making-decisions-about-our-lives
