Magic wears off in ‘Wicked: For Good’ - Detroit Metro Times

I'm so underwhelmed by Wicked: For Good, you know? I think the real tragedy is that they took the magic of the first one and just...phoned it in 🤔. It's like they're trying to appease fans instead of taking risks and really exploring the themes. I mean, we've got a powerful woman in Elphaba, but what's her story? What makes her tick? The love triangle just feels like a lazy attempt to add tension. And don't even get me started on the pacing – it's like they're trying to cram too much into this movie. 📺 I'm all for musicals with depth and substance, not just shallow entertainment that checks off boxes. For Good is just a hollow shell of what Wicked could've been 💔. Can we expect studios to prioritize artistry over box office numbers anymore? 🤷‍♀️

I'm really disappointed in this one 🤔💔. I mean, I loved the first Wicked film, but this sequel just fell flat. Cynthia Erivo is still amazing as Elphaba, don't get me wrong 😍, but her character development felt so rushed and it made it hard to connect with her on a deeper level. And can we talk about that love triangle? It was like they were trying too hard to fit in all these emotions and it just didn't work 🙅‍♀️.

I also feel like the film tried to go in too many directions at once, which made it hard to get invested in anything. The Wizard of Oz is such an iconic story, but by trying to add a darker edge, they lost sight of what makes it special in the first place 🌫️. And don't even get me started on those songs... I mean, I love "No Place Like Home" and all, but they just didn't have the same magic this time around 🎶.

It's like they were more worried about pleasing fans than actually making a good film 🤑. It's such a shame because it felt like they had something special with the first one, but now it's just a shallow waste of resources 💸.

I'm so meh about this sequel... I mean, Cynthia Erivo is still amazing as Elphaba, but her character development is super lacking and it makes it hard for me to connect with the story. The pacing feels all over the place and that love triangle is just forced 🤦‍♀️. And can we talk about how unclear the film's tone is? It tries to be dark and edgy like the first Wicked, but then it's also trying to be a traditional musical... it's just confusing 😐. The sets are gorgeous though! But overall, I'd say this sequel feels like a waste of resources and it doesn't live up to the original. 🎭👎

Ugh man, I'm telling ya, this sequel is like they took all the magic out of Wicked and replaced it with some bland corporate cash grab 🤑. I mean, where's the depth? The first one was all about challenging the status quo and pushing boundaries, but this one's just...meh. It's like they're trying to appease everyone instead of taking a real risk. And don't even get me started on the pacing – it feels like they're rushing through all these important themes without giving us enough time to absorb them. The love triangle is just so contrived, it's like they took every cliche and mashed 'em all together into one big mess 🤯. I swear, this film's more concerned with looking pretty on the surface than actually saying something meaningful. It's a shame, too – Cynthia Erivo shines as Elphaba, but even she can't carry that weak of a narrative 😔.

u guyz i just saw wicked 2 and omg its so underwhelming 🤷‍♀️ the music is still good but its like they took everythin that made the first one special and threw it out the window 💔 elphaba is still my fave but cynthia erivo cant hold her own against the magic of idina menzel 👑 and what was up with the love triangle tho? its so contrived and feel like a desperate attempt to give galinda somethin to do 🙄 i mean whats wrong wit tryna tackle darker themes or just stick w/ musical mode i guess its hard 2 say but wicked 2 feels like more of the same old same old 😴

I'm still trying to get into this musical movie thing 🤔 I mean, I loved Wicked, but now this For Good one just didn't work for me... it's like they took everything that was cool about the first one and left out what made it special? Like, Elphaba is so awesome, but we barely got to see her growth or anything 😐 And don't even get me started on the songs, I mean, I love "Defying Gravity" but this stuff just doesn't bring anything new to the table 🎵. I guess what bums me out is that it's like they're trying too hard to be edgy and dark, you know?
