Lottery for Independence Blue Cross Broad Street Run runs Feb. 1-13

Registration for the Independence Blue Cross Broad Street Run opens at midnight on February 1 and closes on Friday, February 13. The lottery system will select a limited number of runners, while those who register on behalf of a charity partner can also participate. A registration fee of $65 applies.

The 10-mile race begins at Broad Street and Somerville Avenue at 7 a.m. and finishes at the Philadelphia Navy Yard, where up to 40,000 runners are expected. City officials anticipate another sellout, highlighting the event's enduring popularity.

Runners can choose to participate on behalf of one of several charity partners, including the American Cancer Society, Students Run Philly Style, and the Fairmount Park Conservancy.

The 2026 edition of the Broad Street Run has been scheduled during Mental Health Awareness Month, with a focus on running as a tool for supporting mental well-being. The event coincides with Philadelphia's celebration of its 250th anniversary.

Spectators are encouraged to cheer runners along the route and attend the finish-line celebration at the Navy Yard, which will include family-friendly activities and accommodations for wheelchair teams and spectators with disabilities.

The Broad Street Run has come a long way since its inception in 1980, when just 1,500 runners took part. Last year's event saw nearly 33,000 people cross the finish line, underscoring the event's enduring appeal.

can't wait for this years broad street run πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸ’¨! been thinking of signing up with a charity partner to give back while crushing my own goals 😊. hope they can handle another sellout crowd - 40k+ runners is insane! πŸ’₯ the mental health focus for next year's event sounds amazing, running really does have so many benefits for our minds 🌞. if you haven't signed up yet, don't worry, there's still time (kinda πŸ˜‰). get those bibs ready and let's do this, philly! πŸ‘

πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ can't believe how fast this event sells out every year 🀯 I'm thinking of signing up for a charity partner, just hope I don't get picked in that lottery πŸ˜… 40k runners is crazy, but at least there are family-friendly activities at the finish line so everyone can enjoy it πŸ’•

Ugh, $65 for a charity run? That's steep for a beginner runner who's never done a race before πŸ€‘. I mean, I'm all for supporting charities, but can't they offer some sort of discounted registration for first-time runners or low-income individuals? It feels like the event is catering more to the existing running community rather than attracting new people to the sport.

And 40,000 runners is just crazy 🀯. Have they considered the environmental impact of that many people showing up at once? The Broad Street Run has definitely become a huge deal in Philly, but maybe it's time for some infrastructure updates or eco-friendly initiatives to match its growing popularity πŸ’š.

omg i dont know how they gonna let 40k ppl run on broad st tho its like so crowded lol πŸ€―πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ anyway im glad theres charity options tho my sis raised money for that american cancer society last year and it was so cool to see the impact she made πŸ’• also did u hear about this anniversary thingy in philly? 250 yrs old?? thats crazy! 🀯

πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ I'm so stoked for this year's Broad Street Run! $65 is kinda pricey but like if you're running it for charity it's worth every penny 🎯. It's crazy to think about how far this thing has come since those first 1,500 runners back in 80... can you even imagine? And now they're expecting like over 40k participants?! That's insane! 😲 Also, I love that it's gonna be during Mental Health Awareness Month - running is such a great way to take care of yourself and it's awesome that the event is supporting that πŸ§˜β€β™€οΈ. Bring on the runners and spectators alike, can't wait for the Navy Yard party πŸŽ‰!

πŸ’₯ I'm all for charity runs, but $65 as registration fee is kinda steep. I mean, some of those charity partners like American Cancer Society do amazing work 🀝. If more people could participate and share their stories, it would be super inspiring! πŸ’¬ Also, the fact that 40,000 runners are expected is crazy! The event's popularity has grown so much since its inception in '80, but I wonder if they're doing enough to reduce waste and minimize environmental impact? 🌎 It's awesome that spectators can attend and cheer on the runners, though! 😊

Ugh, they're still using the lottery system for registration πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ. I mean, who doesn't want to register and run a fun event like the Broad Street Run? It's not that hard to set up a simple online waitlist or something. But noooo, they still have to randomly select people based on... whatever. And it costs $65 too πŸ€‘. Not exactly affordable for most people. And what's with the charity partner thing? I get it, good cause and all, but can't people just register as individuals without having to choose a charity? It feels like an extra hoop to jump through πŸŽ‰. Anyway, I'll probably end up stuck in the lottery anyway πŸ˜’...

omg u guys i'm lowkey hyped for this broad street run πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸŽ‰ it's like the ultimate philly experience and i love how they're focusing on mental health awareness this year 🌞 my sis is actually running with a charity partner and she's super stoked about it. i mean, 40k runners is crazy but idc if we sell out or not cuz its all about supporting those causes πŸ’– the fact that they have family-friendly activities at the finish line is like yay for philly families πŸ€— can't wait to cheer on the runners and enjoy the celebration with my squad πŸ‘«πŸ’•

Ugh, $65 registration fee for a 10-miler? That's steep! πŸ€‘ They're making bank off charity participants too... it's like they're nickel and diming everyone else. And what's with the lottery system? I mean, who has time to worry about that? Just let anyone sign up and deal with the crowds, you know? πŸ˜’

πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ oh man I'm gonna be so tired but in a good way πŸ’€ I love how they're doing charity runs again it's such a great way to give back 🌟 and running is like super good for mental health too 😊 I've been meaning to sign up for one of these events but I always end up procrastinating πŸ™ˆ fingers crossed this year I'll finally get my act together πŸ’ͺ

I'm so hyped for this year's Broad Street Run πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸ’¨! I've done a few of these before and it's such a rush to get out there with all those people cheering you on. I love that they're doing something special for Mental Health Awareness Month, running can really clear your head and lift your mood πŸ’†β€β™€οΈ. And omg the charity partner thing is genius, I've seen some crazy fundraising efforts go down at this event in the past πŸ€‘. Can't believe it's been 250 years since Philly was founded, talk about a milestone πŸŽ‰.

πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ I'm pretty sure registration is gonna get slammed this year 🀯. With 40k+ runners expected and only a limited spot available, the lottery system is gonna be super competitive πŸ€‘. If you're planning on signing up for charity though, that's still a good chance of getting in πŸŽ‰. On a more serious note, it's awesome that they're highlighting mental health awareness this year 🀝. Running can be such a great way to clear your head and get some exercise, especially during stressful times like now 🌫️. Can't wait to see the pics from the finish line at the Navy Yard, gonna be lit πŸŽ‰πŸ‘

OMG πŸ€©πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ I'm so stoked for the Broad Street Run this year!!! I've been training for months and I'm determined to crush it πŸ’ͺ🏽! The charity component is such a great touch - I'm thinking of signing up with Students Run Philly Style πŸ’•. Can you believe it's during Mental Health Awareness Month? Running has always helped me clear my head, so this event just feels right πŸ™. And 40k runners?! Mind blown 😲. I need to get my squad together ASAP to cheer each other on πŸ€©πŸ‘«! The Navy Yard finish line party sounds lit πŸ”₯ can't wait for the family-friendly vibes and wheelchairs/spectators with disabilities - it's all about community at this event ❀️!

Ugh, I'm not looking forward to signing up for the Broad Street Run this year πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ...my kid is totally going to pressure me into registering with them and running it with me...I mean, I love their enthusiasm but can't we just have a relaxing morning together instead of lacing up our shoes at 6 am? πŸ™„ We'll see how that goes!

idk how ppl think running 10 miles is gonna help w mental health tho πŸ€”... dont get me wrong, i love a good run as much as the next guy but 40k people doing it at the same time? sounds like a recipe for disaster πŸ˜…... and whats w the charity thingy? just another way to guilt trip ppl into spending more $$$ πŸ€‘... still, gotta give props to Philly 4 organizing an event that's been around since '80 πŸŽ‰πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ

πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸ‘€ I'm surprised they're doing this again... πŸ€” 40k people? That's crazy! They used to have like 1500 or something and now it's a sold-out mess πŸ€‘. Guess people just love running for charity, good for them though πŸ’ͺ. Mental Health Awareness Month is cool, but can't they choose a less busy time, like not during the Super Bowl weekend? 😴

omg i'm so hyped for broad street run 2026!!! πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸ’¨ its gonna be amazing that they're focusing on mental health awareness - running is literally the best way to clear your mind and boost those endorphins! ❀️ can't believe how far this event has come since 1980, from just 1500 runners to nearly 33k last year! 🀯 i'm already making plans to register and participate for a charity partner... whoever gets in will be so lucky πŸ˜†

I'm so stoked for the Broad Street Run πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸŽ‰! I've been training for weeks and can't wait to crush that 10-mile course πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ. The charity component is awesome, too - I'm thinking of signing up with Students Run Philly Style πŸ’–. And omg, the mental health aspect for next year's event is so cool πŸ§˜β€β™€οΈ! It just goes to show how running can be a game-changer for our minds and bodies 🌈. I'm low-key hoping it'll be another sellout, though - there's nothing like that rush of energy on Broad Street πŸ˜†. Got my registration fee ready, too... time to get this run party started 🎊!
