Letting prisons jam contraband phones is a bad idea, phone companies tell FCC

omg i cant believe they wanna jam all the phones in prisons 📵😱 like what if theres an emergency and no one can call 911?? or what about when inmates are on calls with their lawyers? that could be super bad 👎 prison phone companies need to think about this before they start jammin 🤑

I'm telling you, it's so simple - they gotta think about the bigger picture 🤔. Jamming those contraband phones is like putting out one fire, but then another one just pops up elsewhere 🔥. And what about the innocent people who get hurt in the crossfire? I mean, AT&T and other carriers are right on point, saying this plan is a recipe for disaster. They can't just block lawful communications like 911 calls and expect it to work smoothly 💔. And have you seen the Wi-Fi Alliance's comments? They're like, "Hey, FCC, we got your back, but also, be careful not to mess with our vibe" 🤪. It's all about finding a balance here. The prison phone companies want their problem solved, but they can't just expect everyone else to suffer because of it 🙅‍♂️. We need a compromise that works for everyone, not just one group 💡.

I mean, come on FCC... isn't there a better way to tackle this issue than jamming everything? 🤯 It's not like these contraband phones are just magically appearing out of thin air - people need 'em for stuff like making 911 calls or staying in touch with loved ones. And what about the innocent people who rely on Wi-Fi and other unlicensed devices? Do they get to be collateral damage too? 🤷‍♂️

And can we talk about how predictable this whole situation is? First, prison phone companies get together to complain about contraband phones - next thing you know, industry groups are chiming in with their own concerns... it's like a never-ending cycle of complaints 😒. And what about the lawyers and politicians who just wanna be in on the action? 🤑

I'm all for cracking down on crime, but this jamming proposal feels like an overreach to me. How about we get some more concrete solutions that don't disrupt everything else? 💡

I gotta say, this is super concerning 🙅‍♂️. If they start jamming contraband phones in prisons, it could mess with people's ability to call 911 or contact loved ones for help. It's already bad enough that these phones are being used for crime and intimidation. Do we really want to cut off their lifeline just because of a few bad apples? 🤔 Let's get more info on this one before making any drastic decisions 💡
