Left-Handed Girl to After the Hunt: the seven best films to watch on TV this week

If you're looking to add some sparkle to your television schedule this week, it may be worth keeping an eye out for 'Left-Handed Girl', a captivating drama that follows the story of Shu-Fen, a single mother struggling to make ends meet in Taipei. With its nuanced portrayal of family relationships and economic hardship, this film is sure to leave viewers invested until the very end.

In stark contrast, 'After the Hunt' presents a rather more cerebral viewing experience, courtesy of its intricate exploration of power dynamics, privilege, and the complexities of human relationships. A deeply unsettling drama that explores themes of harassment, abuse, and redemption, it is guaranteed to stay with you long after the credits roll.

For something altogether more lighthearted, look no further than 'One Shot With Ed Sheeran', a charming music documentary that showcases the singer's affable nature as he performs at various gigs across New York City. Although not a traditional film in the classical sense, it offers an intimate glimpse into the life of one of the world's most successful musicians.

Nights of Cabiria is another iconic classic worth watching this week. A poignant drama about the highs and lows of a life lived on the streets, it stars the incomparable Giulietta Masina as the eponymous character, a woman who navigates a world filled with hardship, but also finds moments of beauty in its darkest corners.

If you're in the mood for something a bit more old-school, 'The Barefoot Contessa' is an intriguing film that explores themes of class and social status through the eyes of Ava Gardner's character. With its sophisticated setting and witty dialogue, it offers a glimpse into a bygone era that is both captivating and thought-provoking.

Lastly, there's the powerful drama 'C'mon C'mon', which tells the story of a young boy struggling to cope with his mother's departure. Featuring two outstanding performances from Joaquin Phoenix and Woody Norman, this heart-wrenching film offers an unflinching portrayal of family life that is both poignant and thought-provoking.

For fans of Quentin Tarantino, 'Inglourious Basterds' is the perfect choice, a rambunctious war epic that blends action with dark humor. With Brad Pitt at its helm as the leader of a deadly special forces unit tasked with taking down the Nazis, this thrilling film is sure to leave viewers on the edge of their seats.

Whether you're in the mood for something lighthearted or thought-provoking, there's bound to be something for everyone in your television schedule this week. So grab some popcorn and settle in – it promises to be a great ride!

i just saw the recap of these movies and i gotta say im really curious about 'C'mon C'mon' 🤔 what drew you guys to watch that one? was it joaquin phoenixs performance or something else entirely?

I'm so down for that new Ed Sheeran doc, "One Shot With Ed Sheeran" 🎸🎶. I mean, have you seen the view from those NYC gigs? 67% of his concerts are sold out in New York City, and he's performed at over 500 shows since 2014 📈🎤. And let's talk about Shu-Fen from "Left-Handed Girl" – did you know that single mothers in Taiwan have a poverty rate of 22%? It's crazy! 👀💸. And I'm curious, what's the average viewership for these new releases on Netflix? 📊👥

"Omg I'm so down for 'After the Hunt' right now 🤯, its vibe is giving me all these deep thoughts about human dynamics & stuff... I've been feeling really inspired by the way it tackles those complex themes 📚💡. At the same time, 'Left-Handed Girl' sounds super relatable too... a single mom struggling to make ends meet in Taipei is like, totally my spirit animal 💸🌈"

omg i'm so hyped about 'Left-Handed Girl'!!! 🤩 it sounds like such an emotional rollercoaster, i need to see how the story unfolds for shu-fen 😭 i've been hearing great things about ed sheeran's doc too, who wouldn't want to watch him perform live in nyc? 🎸🎶 i'm a bit skeptical about 'C'mon C'mon' tho... two kid actors with big performances can be kinda hard to handle 🤔

omg u guys i just saw 'Left-Handed Girl' and i'm literally shook 😍 the way they portrayed Shu-Fen's struggles is so real, like i felt all the emotions too 🤯 and can we talk about how well the cast did? it's like they really got into their characters' heads 💡 anyhoo, just be prepared for some serious feels because this film will leave u invested 🔥

I'm so down for 'C'mon C'mon' this week 🤗. I mean, can you relate to that feeling of not knowing how to cope with life when everything seems too much? The way Joaquin Phoenix and Woody Norman's characters struggle is like a punch in the gut, but in a good way? It's one of those movies that makes you feel all the emotions at once 🌟. And let's be real, who can resist a good underdog story? 😊 I'm also curious to see how 'One Shot With Ed Sheeran' turned out - Ed's energy is infectious and I love how music docs can give you a glimpse into someone's life that's not always seen by the public eye. 🎸
