I've always been fascinated by his photographs, especially those of Sikolo Brathwaite, her elegance and beauty are still giving me life today . What I love most about Kwame Brathwaite is that he wasn't just a photographer, but a true activist who used his platform to challenge societal norms and celebrate Black culture . Kwame Brathwaite was a true legend! I mean, can you imagine a world without his iconic pics of "Grandassa Models"? It's crazy to think he started taking pics because of one photo of Emmett Till in open casket... that's like the ultimate creative spark, right? He was more than just a photographer though, he was a movement maker. I love how he celebrated Black skin and humanized its significance. His legacy lives on through all the artists & activists he inspired. It's a shame his health issues got in the way of participating in an interview, but at least we have his amazing work to keep his spirit alive

I don’t usually comment but I just saw this news about Kwame Brathwaite passing away and I gotta say it's so sad... he was like a true icon in the photography world. I mean, can you even imagine what his photographs would be like if he were still around to take some new pics? He really helped change the game when it came to showcasing Black beauty and culture through his lens. And that "Black is Beautiful" movement... it's amazing how far we've come but at the same time, I wish he was here to see the impact of his work on younger generations.
