Kieron Bowie: Hibernian bank record transfer fee as Scotland striker joins Hellas Verona

Hibernian has reportedly broken their own club record for the sale of a player, with Scotland international striker Kieron Bowie joining Serie A side Hellas Verona on a four-and-a-half year deal. The exact fee received by Hibs was not disclosed, but it is believed to be substantially higher than the Β£4.4m Celtic paid for midfielder Scott Brown in 2007.

Bowie's departure marks the end of an era at Easter Road, where he scored 15 goals in 52 appearances since joining from Fulham in 2024. The 23-year-old's move has been met with a mix of sadness and excitement among Hibs fans, who are now left wondering what could have been.

Speaking to BBC Sport, Hibs head coach David Gray praised Bowie for his professionalism and dedication during his time at the club, saying: "He has been a pleasure to coach and he has been fantastic to work with both on and off the pitch. This is a life-changing move for him and his family."

Hibs sporting director Malky Mackay added that the club had worked hard to secure a deal that reflected Bowie's true value, stating: "There has always been speculation over Kieron, with several clubs submitting bids over the course of the transfer window. We have worked hard to secure a deal that is in the best interests of Hibernian and all parties involved."

Verona are currently bottom of Serie A - four points from safety - before Saturday's match at Cagliari, but they will be boosted by Bowie's arrival. The 23-year-old brings a wealth of experience and talent to the Italian club, and could play a key role in helping them escape relegation.

As for Hibs, they will need to find ways to replace the goalscoring threat that Bowie has provided. With several clubs reportedly monitoring their star players this summer, the Easter Road outfit will be looking to strengthen their squad during the upcoming transfer window.

I'm shocked 🀯, can't believe Kieron Bowie left us already! I mean, 15 goals in 52 appearances is no joke, but I guess that's what happens when you've got a superstar on your hands πŸ’«. It's gonna be tough for the boys to replace him, especially with all these big clubs sniffing around πŸ”₯.

Verona got a good player, no doubt, but this is a massive blow for Hibs... πŸ˜” David Gray is right, it's a life-changing move for Bowie and his family, I guess. He deserves it 🀝. But, man, my heart is still hurting πŸ†

I'm still trying to process how fast our kids grow up 🀯! It feels like Kieron Bowie was just a youngster when he joined Hibs and now he's off to Serie A on a huge deal πŸ’Έ. I know it's exciting for him, but I have to admit I'm a bit sad to see him go πŸ˜”. He was such an important part of the team at Easter Road.

As a parent, it's always tough to see your child move on to new adventures, but you want them to chase their dreams and reach their full potential πŸ’ͺ. I just hope Hibs can find someone who can fill Bowie's boots soon 🀞. It's not easy being a fan when the players you love leave, but I'm sure the Hibs faithful will be behind the team all the way πŸ‘.

Omg, like, I'm literally sad for the Hibs fans who had to watch Bowie leave... he was like their golden boy, you know? πŸ˜” 4.5 years with Verona? That's a big commitment. I guess it's good they got a decent sum out of him tho πŸ€‘. The thing is, I don't think Verona stands a chance this season, they're in pretty dire straits ⚽️. But hey, maybe Bowie can be the one to turn it around? Only time'll tell, mate πŸ’ͺ

Kieron Bowie's departure is a sad day for Hibs fans... πŸ€• I remember watching him play last season and he always gave it his all on the pitch πŸ‘ But Verona need all the help they can get right now, so maybe this move will be a turning point for them πŸ’ͺ

OMG 🀯 just read about Kieron Bowie joining Hellas Verona and I'm SHOOK! Β£4.5m is insane for a player who's not even 24 yet πŸ€‘. Hibs are gonna miss him so much, but on the bright side, they got some decent money πŸ’Έ. The thing that really gets me though is how low Verona is in Serie A - like, four points from safety? πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ I can already imagine Bowie turning their season around πŸ”₯. And now Hibs gotta find another goal-scorer... fingers crossed they get someone better than Bowie πŸ˜…. Verona's got a good shot at survival with him on board πŸ’ͺ.

🀣 just saw that Hibs sold Kieron Bowie for more than Β£4.4m, like what a bargain, right? πŸ˜‚ seriously though, it's a big loss for the club and I'm sure they'll miss him. He was always the one scoring those crucial goals πŸ†. Guess all that speculation about his transfer window drama wasn't just for nothing πŸ’β€β™‚οΈ. Bowie's move to Verona is gonna be interesting tho - can he help them avoid relegation? πŸ€”

omg this is crazy how much he's getting paid πŸ€‘ its like a small country or something!!! i mean i get it hibs wanted to sell him but 4 and a half years in advance? that's just wild i hope they can find some decent players in the summer lol david gray seems really cool btw what's his story??

OMG I'm still trying to process how much money was paid for Kieron Bowie lol like Β£4.4m is old news now πŸ€‘...I feel bad for Hibs fans though, they're gonna miss him so much. He was such a key player and it's weird that he's moving on already. Verona is taking a huge risk by signing him but I'm rooting for them to turn their season around πŸ˜ŠπŸ‘

I think its pretty crazy how much money is being thrown around in football transfers right now πŸ€‘πŸ’Έ. Like, Β£4.4m for Scott Brown back in 2007 was already a big deal, but Kieron Bowie's move to Hellas Verona is on another level! It's no wonder Hibs fans are feeling the pinch - their squad just got way more expensive 😬.

On the other hand, I gotta say, it's great to see Kieron Bowie getting that life-changing move πŸŽ‰. He deserves it after all the hard work he put in at Hibs. And who knows, maybe he'll help Verona turn things around and avoid relegation? That'd be awesome! ⚽️

I mean I'm not surprised, tbh πŸ€”. Big clubs like Hellas Verona don't pass up chances to sign talented players, and Bowie's stats are pretty decent πŸ“Š. But it is a shame for Hibs fans, 'cause he was definitely their best striker this season πŸ’”. I guess they'll have to dip into the market again if they wanna stay competitive 🏦. Verona's situation is quite dire, but with Bowie on board, maybe they can turn things around ⚽️. Fingers crossed for them!

Bowie's move is a big loss for Hibs... he was their best player πŸ’”. Not sure what they were thinking letting him go like that, especially now they're in a spot where they need all hands on deck to avoid relegation 🀯. Verona's chances just went up with him on board though, could be interesting to watch πŸ‘€

ugh i feel bad for hibs fans... they're losing a key player and it's gonna be tough to replace him. i think bowie was a great signing from fulham in 2024 tho, he showed so much promise & potential. now hellas verona gets a talented striker who can hopefully turn their season around 🀞

ugh, can't believe bowie's leaving πŸ€•... i mean, i get it, he's young and wants a new challenge, but hibs had him on fire last season ⚽️. 15 goals in 52 games is no joke! πŸ™Œ they really should've held onto him, now they'll have to scramble to find another striker 🀯.Verona's situation is pretty dire atm though 😩, maybe bowie can help turn things around? πŸ‘

I'm low-key surprised by how fast Kieron Bowie is getting snatched up πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ. I mean, I guess 15 goals in 52 games ain't bad for a kid... but still πŸ™„. Anyway, I'm sure Hibs will find someone who's "good enough" to fill the void left by Bowie πŸ’β€β™€οΈ. Verona's gonna need more than just his skills to stay up in Serie A though, tbh πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ. Guess only time (and a decent transfer budget) will tell if they can get it together 😊.

ugh I'm so sad for hibs fans πŸ€• they've lost a key player and it's gonna be tough for them to replace bowie's goals πŸ’” i think david gray said it all when he praised kieron for his professionalism on and off the pitch πŸ™ malky's statement about securing a deal that reflected bowie's value is also super smart πŸ’‘ but now hibs gotta find another striker ASAP ⏱️ can't wait to see how verona do with bowie at the helm 🀞

Ugh, have you tried those new flavored coffee beans at Starbucks? I mean, I know they're just a fad and all, but I swear, the caramel one is so on point! 🀩 I was sipping on it yesterday and I just thought of that time I went to Italy last year... remember when we took a road trip up the Amalfi Coast? It was literally breathtaking. The views, the food, the wine... my god, it's like they're trying to make everyone forget about their troubles or something πŸ˜‚

man i'm really gonna miss kieron bowie at hibs he was like a rock on the pitch and his dedication off it is super inspiring 🀩 i heard he's getting a sick new deal in serie a but for us, its just sad to see him go the fans are still buzzing about what could've been if he stayed πŸ€” hopefully david gray and malky mackay can get another gem in the transfer window ASAP

awww man i feel bad for hibs fans rn, losin a player like bowie is never easy πŸ€• he was doin so well at hibs and now he's movin on to bigger things... i no its not the end of an era or anythin but its defo gonna be hard 4 them to replace him. david gray seems like a great coach tho, he gave bowie all the praise he deserved πŸ™Œ hope he finds success at verona and helps them escape relegation 🀞

OMG 🀯, I'm kinda salty about Kieron Bowie leaving Hibs, but at the same time I gotta respect his decision to join Hellas Verona πŸ™. He's been an amazing player for us and it's a shame he's moving on. But TBH, 4.5 yrs is a pretty decent gig πŸ€‘, and Verona could do with some fresh legs & talent πŸ’ͺ. David Gray said Bowie was a pleasure to coach & all that, but let's be real, the lad's got skills πŸ”₯! Hibs might need to step up their recruitment game now, but I'm sure they'll find someone who can fill the void ⚽️.
