Julius Eastman: A Power Greater Than review – Davóne Tines celebrates the maverick musician

I totally got chills watching that performance at the Barbican 🤩! The way Davóne Tines brought Julius Eastman's music to life was like nothing I've ever seen before - so raw and emotional, it felt like we were witnessing something truly special 🌟. And I love how he worked with Seth Parker Woods on some of the arrangements, it's clear they're totally on the same wavelength 🤝. That last piece, Gay Guerilla, was MIND-BLOWING - the tension building up to that climax was insane 😲! What really got me, though, was seeing all these people in the crowd totally entranced by Eastman's music... it's like he's been waiting for them all this time 🕰️. Can't wait to see what else Tines has in store for us

Davóne Tines's performance at the Barbican was super cool 🎵... I mean, it really showed off his skills as a performer and arranger. But, for real tho, some of those arrangements felt like they were missing something. Like, having more cellos would've taken it to another level, you know? 🤔 Still, it's awesome that he's helping spread Julius Eastman's music far and wide. The Holy Presence of Joan d'Arc was straight fire 🔥... I mean, the way Davóne's voice just owned that stage was amazing! Can't wait to see what other projects he's working on now 🤞
