Houston Food Bank needs volunteers, Spanish speakers to join Share Your Holidays phone bank

Houston Food Bank Seeks Volunteers for Holiday Phone Bank, Urgently Needs Spanish Speakers

The Houston Food Bank is reaching out to volunteers to join its ABC13 Share Your Holidays phone bank, which will help register individuals requesting holiday food boxes and alleviate the high demand that typically leads to lengthy wait times.

Volunteers need not have prior experience, as training will be provided before each shift. To ensure a smooth process, staff at the Houston Food Bank will guide volunteers with a 15-minute briefing, and they'll also receive a binder containing relevant information.

The Share Your Holidays phone bank requires volunteers who can register people to receive holiday food boxes. Those interested in volunteering should create a profile on the Houston Food Bank website, where red shifts are available from Monday, December 1st through Wednesday, December 3rd (10am-7pm).

In addition to phone banking, donors can contribute to the Houston Food Bank by visiting their website or texting SYH2025 to 71777.

A key aspect of this volunteer effort is the urgent need for Spanish-speaking volunteers. With a significant portion of the community speaking Spanish, these volunteers are crucial in ensuring that everyone can access necessary food support during the holiday season.

The Houston Food Bank will utilize donations effectively, directing them toward areas where they are most needed.

I'm so down to volunteer my time for the phone bank ๐Ÿ“ž๐ŸŽ‰, and I think it's awesome they're looking for Spanish speakers! We gotta make sure everyone can get the help they need during the holidays, esp those who don't speak English fluently ๐Ÿ’ฌ. Plus, with all the people waitin' in line to get food boxes, it's gonna be a lifesaver for lots of families ๐Ÿค. The Houston Food Bank is doin a great job organizin everything and makin sure donations are goin straight to where they're needed most ๐Ÿ“ˆ.

๐Ÿค— Can you imagine having to wait for hours to get help with something as simple as a food box? It's heartbreaking to think about people struggling like that during the holidays. I'm so glad the Houston Food Bank is organizing this phone bank and desperately needs volunteers, especially those who speak Spanish - it's all about being inclusive and making sure everyone gets the support they need ๐ŸŒŽ๐Ÿ’•

I donโ€™t usually comment but... I think itโ€™s really cool that the Houston Food Bank is doing this phone bank thing. They need Spanish speakers for a reason, right? There's so many people in that community who can't speak English and stuff, so it's awesome they're trying to get more volunteers who can help with that. Plus, it's just nice to know there are people looking out for each other like this during the holidays ๐Ÿค. I've lived here in Houston my whole life and I've never thought about how hard it must be to navigate those kinds of things without some support. So yeah, kudos to the Food Bank for stepping up! ๐Ÿ‘

I'm all for people coming together to help those in need, especially around the holidays ๐ŸŽ„๐Ÿ‘. But let's be real, the demand for food assistance is only going up with inflation and whatnot, so it's gonna get slammed this year โš ๏ธ. I mean, 10am-7pm shifts on a weekday? That's a long day, even for the most dedicated volunteers ๐Ÿคฏ. And yeah, training will be provided, but can't they just hire some staff to handle the phones or something? Just saying ๐Ÿ˜Š. Still, if you're into that kind of thing and wanna help out, Spanish speakers are definitely needed ๐Ÿ’ฌ, so hit up their website and sign up!

Ugh, phone banking? Sounds like the perfect way to spend your holiday break... said no one ever ๐Ÿ™„. But seriously, I guess it's a great way to give back and help those in need. I mean, who doesn't love talking on the phone for hours? ๐Ÿ“ž๐Ÿ˜ด The fact that they're low-key looking for Spanish speakers is actually kinda cool - like, we should all be fluent in at least two languages by now, right? ๐Ÿ’โ€โ™€๏ธ And yay for text-to-give donations! That's just so... 2025 ๐Ÿ’ป. Anyway, if anyone needs me, I'll be over here playing video games and pretending to care about phone banking ๐ŸŽฎ

awww, it sounds like they really need some help this holiday season ๐Ÿค—. I mean, who doesn't love giving back to their community? it's so cool that they're looking for Spanish speakers to volunteer - it shows how they care about people from all walks of life ๐Ÿ’•. And yay for the training and support staff will provide - it's always great to have a hand when you need one ๐Ÿค. I'm sure whoever signs up for this will feel super fulfilled knowing they helped make a difference โค๏ธ.

๐Ÿค— just saw this news and I'm like totally down to help out with the Houston Food Bank's Share Your Holidays phone bank ๐Ÿ“ž. They really need Spanish speakers on board since a lot of ppl in the community speak Spanish, right? It's so cool that they're trying to make sure everyone has access to food during the holiday season ๐ŸŽ„. I'm not even super good with phones or anything, but it sounds like they'll teach me what to do before we start ๐Ÿ“š. Plus, donating money or texts is also an option if phone banking isn't your thing ๐Ÿค. Let's do this and make a difference in our community! ๐Ÿ’–

OMG ๐Ÿคฏ I'm totally down to help out with the phone bank! I think it's so cool that they need Spanish speakers because like, a lot of people speak Spanish in Houston and it's super important to have people who can communicate with them in their own language ๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ. Plus, training will be provided, so even if you're new to volunteering, you'll be all set! โฐ Just make sure to check the website for red shifts on Dec 1-3 and get ready to save the day ๐Ÿ’–.

OMG ๐Ÿคฏ๐Ÿ“ž I'm so down to help out with this phone bank thingy ๐Ÿ“ˆ๐Ÿ’ป! It's like, totally awesome that they need Spanish speakers ๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธโ€โ™€๏ธ and we can make a difference ๐Ÿ’– in our community ๐ŸŒŽ. Don't wanna be all about the holidays and forget about those who really need it ๐Ÿ˜”. Plus, I heard training is pretty easy peasy ๐Ÿ‘ so anyone can join in! ๐Ÿ“ Let's get that food bank filled up ๐Ÿด๐Ÿ’ช!

OMG, I'm so hyped about this ๐Ÿคฉ! The Houston Food Bank is literally doing everything right, you know? They're not just asking for volunteers, but also giving them a solid training and support system ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿ“š. And can we talk about how important it is to have Spanish speakers on board? Like, the stats say 1 in 5 families in Houston are Spanish-speaking, so this is literally a game-changer ๐ŸŒŽ๐Ÿ’•. I'm totally down to sign up for that phone bank shift ASAP! Let's get this food bank filled with love and kindness โค๏ธ๐Ÿด.

I'm thinking about volunteering at the Houston Food Bank's Share Your Holidays phone bank... ๐Ÿค” it seems like a really good way to give back during the holidays... my friend's aunt is actually from Mexico and she told me that not being able to speak Spanish can make things super hard for her community, so I think this is a great opportunity to help out...

๐Ÿค I'm actually really inspired by this initiative & think it's awesome that they're specifically looking for Spanish speakers ๐Ÿ“ž. You know how important language barriers can be when trying to access basic necessities like food ๐Ÿด? It's amazing that the Houston Food Bank is acknowledging this gap and actively seeking out volunteers who can bridge that gap ๐Ÿ’ฌ. I'd love to see more organizations taking a similar approach, especially during the holiday season when resources are already stretched thin โ„๏ธ. Having trained volunteers who can communicate in multiple languages could make all the difference for those struggling to get by ๐ŸŒŸ.

I'm all about supporting our communities ๐Ÿค, especially during the holidays when so many people are struggling to make ends meet. But you know who's not doing enough? Our government agencies that could be providing more resources and support to food banks like this one ๐Ÿค”.

Think about it, we're talking about a phone bank where volunteers are being sought after to register people for holiday food boxes - it sounds like something our social services department should be handling, but they just aren't doing enough to help those in need ๐Ÿ™„. And now you're telling me that Spanish-speaking volunteers are essential because of the high demand from that community? It's about time we acknowledged that our language diversity is a strength, not a weakness ๐Ÿ’ช.

We need systemic changes, not just individual volunteers, to address food insecurity and poverty in our country ๐Ÿ“ˆ. The Houston Food Bank is doing its part, but it's not enough - we need a comprehensive approach to tackle this issue from the top down ๐Ÿ’ผ.
