Houston Food Bank Seeks Volunteers for Holiday Phone Bank, Urgently Needs Spanish Speakers

The Houston Food Bank is reaching out to volunteers to join its ABC13 Share Your Holidays phone bank, which will help register individuals requesting holiday food boxes and alleviate the high demand that typically leads to lengthy wait times.

Volunteers need not have prior experience, as training will be provided before each shift. To ensure a smooth process, staff at the Houston Food Bank will guide volunteers with a 15-minute briefing, and they'll also receive a binder containing relevant information.

The Share Your Holidays phone bank requires volunteers who can register people to receive holiday food boxes. Those interested in volunteering should create a profile on the Houston Food Bank website, where red shifts are available from Monday, December 1st through Wednesday, December 3rd (10am-7pm).

In addition to phone banking, donors can contribute to the Houston Food Bank by visiting their website or texting SYH2025 to 71777.

A key aspect of this volunteer effort is the urgent need for Spanish-speaking volunteers. With a significant portion of the community speaking Spanish, these volunteers are crucial in ensuring that everyone can access necessary food support during the holiday season.

omg u guys i was just talking to my sister n she works at the houston food bank and its literally SO crowded there rn they need like a ton of spanish speakers ASAP cuz they cant afford 2 hire more ppl n i know someone who's got a bunch of friends who r willing 2 volunteer n i'm def adding myself 2 the list 17 yrs old or younger btw lol wut if u can't even get ur parents 2 agree 2 donate or volunteer? idk wut else u cud do but i guess donating thru their website or texting them would b a good start
