Healey directly calls on 2 airlines to end ICE collaboration

Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey has issued a stern demand to two private airline companies, GlobalX Airlines and Eastern Air Express, for their role in assisting US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in conducting deportation flights from the state's Hanscom Field.

Healey's letter to the CEOs of both airlines criticized their involvement in providing aircraft and personnel for ICE use at Hanscom Field, arguing that it allows the agency to "quickly remove residents" without due process. The governor pointed out that many people detained by ICE in Massachusetts have no criminal convictions or charges against them, sparking outrage among local leaders.

Healey's move comes after a significant increase in ICE flights from Hanscom Field last year, with 114 departures between January and November 2025, representing a 143% rise from the same period in 2024. The governor also referenced news about Avelo Airlines ending its collaboration with ICE amid company-wide downsizing.

In her letter, Healey expressed concerns over the economic implications of spending hundreds of millions of dollars on private jets for deportation flights, particularly at a time when they are denying hunger benefits, cutting healthcare access, and raising costs through tariffs. The governor urged the airlines to "stop profiting off these anti-American tactics and facilitating obstruction of due process."

The move marks a significant escalation in Healey's criticism of ICE actions in Massachusetts, with local leaders expressing outrage over the agency's treatment of residents. The letter also highlights the growing tension between the state government and federal agencies on immigration enforcement.

idk why airlines gotta get involved in all this deportation stuff ๐Ÿ˜’ they're just trying to make a buck but then they're gonna be outed as profiteers by some politician like Healey... meanwhile, those people getting deported might not even have done anything wrong ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ and now the state's gonna spend millions of dollars on jets to fly them away... it's just crazy.

๐Ÿšจ just heard about this... so they're basically saying that two airlines are helping ice deport ppl who haven't even done anything wrong ๐Ÿค• and now mass gov is all like "stop profiting off these anti american tactics" but what's the point? its not like these airlines can just stop flying to hanscom field without it affecting their business ๐Ÿ“‰ i mean, what other options do they have? its a tough spot...

I'm really worried about these deportation flights ๐Ÿค•. As a resident of this country, I feel like my neighbors could be taken away without even being told what's happening to them ๐Ÿ˜Ÿ. It doesn't seem right that people with no convictions are still subject to detention and removal. And what's the point of paying hundreds of millions for private jets when we're struggling to help those who need it most? ๐Ÿค” We should be focusing on providing support, not spending money on deportation flights.

I'm also curious about why these airlines are getting in on this action - is it just a way for them to make some quick cash? ๐Ÿ˜’ It's definitely not doing the state any favors, and I think it's time for us to stand up against this kind of thing. We need to make sure our governor isn't being forced into cornering her own state by these private interests ๐Ÿšซ

OMG, this is getting outta hand! ๐Ÿšซ They're literally using private jets to deport people who might not even have done anything wrong... I mean, come on, can't we just talk about this stuff in court or something? It's like, these airlines are profiting off of people's suffering and it's just not right. And what really gets me is that they're cutting healthcare access and raising tariffs at the same time... like, what's next? ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™€๏ธ

so this is crazy ๐Ÿคฏ, like what even is going on here? these two airlines are just chillin' with ICE and helping them send people away without even asking if they have a lawyer lol no thanks! Maura Healey is all up in arms about it too, I mean who wouldn't be right? it's like, what if you're not even doing anything wrong but still get deported? the governor is saying we should care more about due process and not just some company getting rich off of profiting from people's suffering ๐Ÿ˜’. it's all so messed up...

๐Ÿ˜ฉ This is just getting outta hand - private airlines gettin' paid to ferry ICE around like they're taxi services or somethin'. Hundreds of millions of dollars for deportation flights? Meanwhile, people are dyin' from hunger and healthcare costs are through the roof... it's like we're livin' in a sci-fi movie where corporations get to decide who lives and dies. ๐Ÿšซ And what really gets my goat is that these airlines are profiting off this system while regular folks are sufferin'. Avelo Airlines just broke up with ICE, but I'm sure other airlines will jump right back in line... what's the incentive for 'em? ๐Ÿค‘

๐Ÿšซ I'm so sick of these airlines making a ton of cash off deporting innocent ppl ๐Ÿคฏ Like, what's next? Are they gonna start selling our data to the highest bidder too?! ๐Ÿ˜ฑ And Healey is totally right btw - it's not cool that these planes are being used to take people away without even giving 'em a fair shake. I mean, have you seen those news vids of ppl being dragged off flights and thrown into detention centers? It's like, what even is going on here?! ๐Ÿ˜ค

Ugh ๐Ÿคฏ, I just can't believe this!!! These airlines are literally profiting off people's misery ๐Ÿ˜ฉ. It's so wrong that they're helping ICE deport people without due process. Like, what even is the point of having a system if you're not going to follow the rules? ๐Ÿ™„ And honestly, how can we expect these companies to care about anything else when they know they'll get paid for doing this kinda stuff? ๐Ÿ’ธ It's just so messed up.

And can you believe ICE is still doing this in Massachusetts? ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ I mean, I know the state government has its own issues, but come on! This is just so unfair. These people are being torn from their families and communities without any real chance of getting a fair hearing. It's like, what about human rights or something? ๐ŸŒŽ

I'm with Maura Healey all the way ๐Ÿ’ฏ on this one. These airlines need to stop profiting off anti-American tactics ASAP ๐Ÿ”ฅ. We need people who care about doing the right thing, not just lining their pockets. Let's hope they listen and change their ways soon! ๐Ÿคž

OMG ๐Ÿคฏ this is getting so out of hand! I'm all for stricter border control but come on, deporting people without due process? It's just not right ๐Ÿ˜’. And now the gov is going after private airlines like GlobalX and Eastern Air Express? That's a total overreach ๐Ÿšซ. They're already taking a huge hit from Avelo's exit and now they're getting slammed by Healey? Not cool, MA ๐Ÿค•. I get that hunger benefits, healthcare access, and tariffs are major issues, but let's not forget about the innocent people getting caught in this mess ๐Ÿ™ˆ. Can't we just have a more nuanced conversation about immigration reform instead of demonizing private airlines? ๐Ÿ˜ฉ

omg ๐Ÿ˜ฑ can u believe these airlines are profiting off ppl being deported?? it's like they're making a killing off people's suffering, you know? and massachusetts is taking a stand against this by holding them accountable ๐Ÿ’ช governor healey is giving these companies an ultimatum - either stop working with ice or face the consequences. i feel so much for all the ppl being detained at hansom field, they don't deserve to be treated like this ๐Ÿคฏ how can someone be deported without even getting a fair trial? it's just not right ๐Ÿ’”

๐Ÿ˜’๐Ÿšซ๐Ÿ˜• Airlines are profiting off ๐Ÿค‘ human suffering. Can't believe they're making money off people who are just trying to live their lives without causing harm ๐Ÿ˜ญ. It's not right that they're getting paid for doing something that's so inhumane ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ. The governor is speaking up ๐Ÿ’ช and holding them accountable ๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™€๏ธ. We need more leaders like her who care about people's rights โค๏ธ. This is a big deal, folks! โœˆ๏ธ๐Ÿ’ฅ

I don't usually comment but... I think it's crazy that these airlines are just going along with whatever the feds ask them to do. I mean, have you seen the numbers? 143% increase in deportation flights from one year to another? It's like they're getting paid to be part of some big machine that's basically ignoring due process. And now Maura Healey is telling them to stop profiting off it... but won't they just say "screw Massachusetts" and fly the plane anyway? ๐Ÿค”๐Ÿ˜ฌ

๐Ÿค” This is getting outta hand... I mean, I get it, ICE gotta do their job or whatever, but shouldn't they be doing it with more oversight? Like, why are these private airlines just handing over their planes and pilots to the feds without a care? ๐Ÿšซ And what's up with this "no criminal convictions" thing? Sounds like some folks might actually be fleeing violence or persecution... ๐ŸŒŽ I need some sources on how many of those detained people even have charges against them. Wouldn't that info be publicly available somewhere? ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ And btw, how much is the state really losing out in terms of taxpayer dollars compared to what ICE is paying these airlines? The math just doesn't add up... ๐Ÿ“Š

๐Ÿค” I'm not surprised to see Gov. Healey taking a stand against these private airlines. It's just common sense that companies shouldn't be profiting off a system that's essentially violating basic human rights. The fact that they're using their resources for deportation flights, especially when people don't even have criminal convictions, is just unacceptable. ๐Ÿšซ It's like they're turning a blind eye to the severity of the situation.

The economic implications are also pretty worrying. Millions of dollars being spent on private jets while people are struggling with hunger benefits and healthcare access? That's just not right. I'm glad Avelo Airlines made the move to end its collaboration with ICE, it shows that some companies are willing to take a stand against these anti-American tactics.

It's also interesting to see how this is escalating the tension between state governments and federal agencies on immigration enforcement. I think it highlights the need for more transparency and accountability in our system. We should be questioning who's profiting off of deportation flights, not just who's paying the bills ๐Ÿค‘
