This sentiment is particularly strong among Democrats, with 84% saying that the Trump administration does not protect their rights. On the other hand, Republicans overwhelmingly support the idea of a strong Trump administration when it comes to protecting conservative values.
A majority (56%) of Americans also believe that President Trump's administration has not committed to protecting freedom of speech. This is followed by freedom of press (61%), free and fair elections (56%), and freedom of religion (49%). A more significant portion, 65%, believe that the Trump administration has not protected its commitment to people who are Republicans.
However, when it comes to firearms, a slim majority (57%) says that President Trump's administration is committed to protecting Americans' right to own them. The majority of Democrats (60%) and independents strongly oppose this claim, while most Republicans (48%) support the idea that the government has no right to restrict gun ownership.
