Google Nabs Top Talent From AI Voice Startup Hume AI

Google DeepMind is set to expand its capabilities in emotionally intelligent voice interfaces as the tech giant acquires top talent from AI startup Hume AI. CEO Alan Cowen, along with several other engineers, will join Google DeepMind under a new licensing deal.

The partnership aims to integrate voice and emotional intelligence into Google's latest models, bolstering the company's competitive edge against rival AI firm OpenAI's ChatGPT. The deal is part of Google DeepMind's ongoing efforts to create more human-like interfaces for interacting with customers.

Hume AI's technology focuses on developing realistic voice interfaces that can detect emotions in users' voices. By incorporating this expertise into its models, Google DeepMind will enhance its ability to provide empathetic and personalized responses.

The acquisition comes after a series of deals between tech giants and AI startups. Microsoft recently partnered with Inflection, while Amazon hired the team behind Adept. Meta also snagged the CEO of Scale AI in a high-stakes deal.

Hume AI expects to bring in $100 million in revenue by 2026 as it works with AI labs on fine-tuning models for more capable voice assistants. The company has raised $74 million in funding and plans to release its latest models in the coming months.

Industry expert Andrew Ettinger says that voice interfaces will become increasingly important in customer support and general helpfulness, paving the way for improved user experience and competitive edge.

Google's expanding their AI game with this new move, seems like they're trying to get into the emotional intelligence space 🤔. I think it's a smart play, especially since we're seeing more and more companies jump on the bandwagon when it comes to voice assistants. It'll be interesting to see how Hume AI's tech holds up against the likes of OpenAI's ChatGPT.

As someone who's used voice assistants for years, I can already imagine the benefits - personalized responses that actually feel like they're coming from a real person 😊. But at the same time, it raises questions about how we're gonna regulate these AI systems and make sure they don't become too sneaky 🤝.

Also, $100 million in revenue by 2026 is no joke 💸 - sounds like Hume AI's got some serious plans. I'm curious to see how this partnership with Google DeepMind plays out, will we be seeing more human-like interfaces from the search giant soon?

just think about it 🤔 - we're living in a world where our devices can already read our emotions and respond accordingly... like, what's next? will our chatbots be able to tell when we're having a bad day just by listening to us talk on the phone? 😬 it's both exciting and a bit creepy. anyway, i'm not sure how much of this tech is gonna make its way into our daily lives, but it's definitely something to keep an eye on 👀

OMG u guys, Google just got a major upgrade for their AI voice thingys 🤖! They're snatchin' talent from Hume AI like it's nobodies biz 💼. This is gonna make their chatbots SO much more human-like and less robotic 🤔. I mean, who wants to talk to some soulless AI when u can have one that feels like a real person? 🤷‍♀️ The competition between Google and OpenAI is gettin' HILARIOUS 🎉, but in all seriousness, this acquisition is gonna make Google's voice interfaces WAY more advanced. I'm low-key hyped for it 💥!

I don’t usually comment but I think this is a big deal for Google 🤔. Integrating emotionally intelligent voice interfaces will definitely make their AI models more human-like and user-friendly 👍. It’s all about creating that personal connection with customers, you know? And with Hume AI on board, they might finally be able to crack the code on empathy in AI 💬. I mean, imagine being able to have a convo with Siri or Alexa that actually understands what you're feeling 🤗. It's gonna be game-changing for customer support and stuff like that. OpenAI's ChatGPT is already killing it, but this could give Google some serious competition 🔥

🤖💬 so google is getting into emotional AI now 🤔, which means their smart speakers will be able to detect your emotions 🎧 and respond accordingly 😊. imagine having a chatbot that can have a convo with you like you're having coffee together ☕️! anyway, it's cool to see the big tech players investing in this stuff... 💸 it's gonna be interesting to see how much of a difference it makes for users 🤔

🤔 so this is gonna be super interesting to see how google deepmind's new talent shakes things up with their emotionally intelligent voice interfaces... 100 million revenue by 2026 is quite ambitious 🤑 but if they can pull it off, it could definitely give openai a run for its money 💻 on the chatgpt front. and let's be real, who doesn't want to feel like their virtual assistant actually cares about what they're saying? 😂 this tech is moving fast and I'm excited to see where it takes us!
