Former Tory councillor admits drugging and raping wife over 14-year period

Former Tory Councillor Admits Shocking Abuse, Including Drugging and Rape

A shocking case of domestic abuse came to light in Winchester Crown Court when 49-year-old Philip Young, a former Conservative councillor, admitted nearly 50 serious crimes against his ex-wife Joanne Young over the course of 14 years.

Young pleaded guilty to 11 counts of rape, 11 counts of administering a substance with intent to stupefy, as well as multiple charges of voyeurism and assault by penetration. He also admitted four counts of sexual assault and one count of publishing obscene articles.

Joanne Young, 48, bravely sat in the same courtroom where her ex-husband pleaded guilty, becoming an unwitting key witness in his own downfall. The abuse is believed to have taken place between 2010 and 2024, with the most recent incidents alleged to have occurred just a few years ago.

Young's rise through politics appears to have been marked by secrecy and deception, as he rose through the ranks of the Conservative party, becoming a councillor in Swindon from 2007 until his resignation in 2010. The reasons for his sudden departure were somewhat flimsy, with Young claiming that balancing family life with work was taking priority.

However, behind closed doors, Young had been carrying out horrific abuse against his wife, including drugging and raping her on multiple occasions. As part of his plea deal, five other men appeared in court on Friday, accused of aiding or abetting the abuse against Joanne Young.

This guy's rise through politics is like a complete joke ๐Ÿ˜‚, all while secretly being a monster ๐Ÿค–. I mean, you can't just hide behind a mask of respectability and civic duty to cover up your dark secrets ๐Ÿ’”. It's sickening that he was able to use his position to conceal what was really going on in his personal life.

What really gets me is that he used his power to control and manipulate someone who couldn't fight back ๐Ÿ™…โ€โ™‚๏ธ, and now everyone's paying the price for it ๐Ÿค. It's a harsh reminder of how some people can hide behind their public image and get away with evil actions ๐Ÿ‘€.

But on a more positive note, I'm so proud of Joanne Young for finding the courage to speak out against her abuser ๐Ÿ’ช. She's an inspiration to anyone who's ever been silenced or marginalized ๐ŸŒŸ. It's time we shed light on the dark secrets that people like Philip Young try to hide from us ๐Ÿ‘€๐Ÿ’ซ.

๐Ÿค• This is a seriously disturbing case... I mean, I'm glad justice is being served, but I gotta wonder how this guy managed to hide it for so long? Like, 14 years of abuse? That's just crazy ๐Ÿคฏ. And the fact that he was able to keep it under wraps while holding public office is just mind-boggling... no wonder he resigned from his job in Swindon all those years ago.

I also feel bad for Joanne Young, who has basically been living through hell, and now she's gotta relive it all again because of her ex-husband's actions. I mean, that must have been so traumatic for her... I hope the court is able to get some justice done in terms of compensation and support for her.

It's just a shame that more people weren't aware of what was going on behind closed doors. Like, it's 2025 now, and we should be way beyond this kind of abuse. But hey, at least the perpetrators are finally facing the music... kinda. ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ

OMG ๐Ÿคฏ just can't believe what's happening in this case ๐Ÿ™…โ€โ™‚๏ธ. I mean, who would've thought that someone in power like a councillor could be capable of such horrific things? It's just so sad for Joanne Young, she must've been living in fear for 14 years ๐Ÿ˜”. And the fact that her ex-husband was able to hide it behind his "balancing family life with work" excuse is just shocking ๐Ÿ’โ€โ™€๏ธ. Anyway, glad he's finally admitting guilt and getting the help he needs ๐Ÿคž. Hope Joanne Young gets the justice she deserves ๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™‚๏ธ

๐Ÿคฏ Can you even imagine living with someone who's been drugging and raping you for 14 years?! Like, how does that even happen in real life? ๐Ÿ™…โ€โ™‚๏ธ It's so messed up that this guy was able to hide it behind a facade of being a respected councillor. I mean, what kind of toxic culture lets people like him rise through the ranks? ๐Ÿ’” Anyway, Joanne Young is a total hero for speaking out and seeking justice โ€“ we gotta support her and let her know she's not alone! ๐Ÿ’• The fact that 5 other dudes are facing charges too is wild... this whole thing is just so disturbing ๐Ÿ˜ท

๐Ÿ˜ฑ this is just heartbreaking... the fact that someone so powerful & respected was hiding this dark side & preying on their partner like this is just devastating. 5 more guys involved too? what's wrong with people? ๐Ÿคฏ how did he get away with it for so long without anyone noticing? and poor Joanne, she's still going through all this trauma... hope justice is served ๐Ÿ’ช

This is so messed up ๐Ÿคฏ like how could he hide all this for 14 years? He's even got a spot on the Conservative party and everyone just looked past his "family issues" ๐Ÿ™„ meanwhile Joanne had to live with all these traumas and now she's brave enough to speak out. I feel bad for her, but at the same time, how could he just keep it inside like that? And what about all those other guys who allegedly helped him? The system seems to be breaking down here...

๐Ÿ™„ What a sickening case. I'm not surprised that someone in power was able to hide their true nature for so long. The fact that he was even allowed to serve as a councillor is just mind-blowing ๐Ÿคฏ. And now, these other guys are getting dragged down with him? Unbelievable... it's like they're all enabling each other or something ๐Ÿšซ.

๐Ÿคฏ Can you believe this dude was a politician?! I mean, what's going on with these powerful people? They think they're above the law just because they've got connections and can smooth-talk their way to the top. Newsflash: corruption goes all the way to the top! And what really gets me is that he was able to hide this stuff for so long, it's like he had a whole network of ppl covering for him. I'm not saying they were in on it, but... I don't know, man. It just doesn't add up. The fact that his ex-wife was the one who ended up testifying against him is wild too. Like, what does she get outta this deal? Is there more to the story than we're seeing?

Its just mind-blowing how one person can pull off such a heinous act and get away with it for so long ๐Ÿคฏ. I mean, what kinda system lets someone rise to power while hiding these dark secrets? It's like they say, "power corrupts" and in this case, Philip Young's thirst for power apparently consumed him completely ๐Ÿ’”.

Now we're talking about accountability, because clearly, the party he was a part of needs to take responsibility too ๐Ÿค. I mean, how did his colleagues not know? Were they just willfully blind or did they turn a blind eye? It raises so many questions about systemic failures and cover-ups that need to be addressed.

It's also concerning that we're seeing another wave of allegations against five other men who allegedly aided the abuse ๐Ÿšจ. Is this just a case of men in positions of power using their influence to silence women or is there something more sinister at play? The truth needs to come out so these victims can finally find justice ๐Ÿ”’.

ugh what a total letdown... thought he was this perfect little family man with a successful career ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ but turns out he's been using his power to control and exploit his own wife for 14 whole years ๐Ÿ˜ฑ. and now we're supposed to feel bad for him just because he's finally owned up to it? no way, he should be serving life in prison ASAP ๐Ÿ’”. i mean what kind of system lets a predator like this rise through the ranks and then just... pleads guilty? ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ at least he didn't try to cover his tracks or deny everything like some other politicians we know ๐Ÿ˜’.

I'm just so disappointed in the state of politics right now... I mean, how can someone get away with this kind of stuff and still manage to climb the ranks? It's just sickening. And to think he was able to hide it behind a mask of "family life" and "work responsibilities"... meanwhile his poor ex-wife is left to deal with all these years of trauma. ๐Ÿ˜ฑ๐Ÿ’” It's just not right, you know? The whole system seems to be broken when it allows this kind of abuse to go on for so long. I'm no expert, but it feels like there are too many blind spots and not enough accountability. ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ

This case is just heartbreaking... ๐Ÿค• I mean, 14 years is a long time to suffer through this kind of abuse. You feel so bad for Joanne, having to go through all that and still being in the same courtroom as her ex-husband. It's like, how does one even process that? The fact that he was able to hide it all behind a mask of politeness and "family life" is just mind-blowing. And now these other men are facing charges for their role in aiding him... I guess justice will be served eventually ๐Ÿ˜Š.

๐Ÿ˜ฉ I'm so sorry to hear that Joanne had to go through this unimaginable pain for 14 years ๐Ÿค•. How she must have felt trapped and alone during that time is just heartbreaking โค๏ธ. It's just shocking that someone in power, especially a politician, could be capable of such heinous crimes ๐Ÿšซ. I can only imagine how hard it must be for her to relive all those memories now ๐Ÿ’”. The fact that she had to testify against him in court and face him again is just devastating ๐Ÿ˜ฉ. She's a true survivor, though - brave and strong ๐Ÿ’ช. Hope she gets the support and help she needs during this tough time ๐Ÿค—.

can't believe what's happening rn ๐Ÿคฏ๐Ÿ˜ฑ according to the stats from 2024, UK domestic abuse cases rose by 25% alone, with women being more likely to experience abuse than men... and this is just one case out of so many more ๐Ÿ˜” 1 in 5 relationships will end in violence or abuse - it's a cryin' shame ๐Ÿค• and the fact that he was in politics, hiding behind a mask of "family life" is just appalling ๐Ÿ™„ 5 other men are now facing charges for aiding & abetting his abuse... but there needs to be more done, we need to break the silence around domestic abuse ๐Ÿ’”

๐Ÿคฏ you know what's crazy? people think they can just hide behind a title or a public persona and do whatever they want... like, Philip Young was literally a councillor and everyone trusted him to make good decisions for the community, but really he was doing this disgusting stuff behind closed doors ๐Ÿคฎ. it's so sad that his ex-wife had to sit through all that drama in court and have to relive those awful moments again. anyway, i was just thinking about how some people can be so talented at pretending to be someone they're not... like, politicians, influencers, even celebrities... it's almost like they're performing a role or something ๐Ÿค”

This is like something straight outta a soap opera ๐Ÿคฏ! I mean, who needs a plot twist when you've got a guy being caught for drugging and raping his ex-wife... and then he's like "oh, balancing family life with work" ๐Ÿ‘Ž. You can't make this stuff up, folks! Anyway, glad Joanne spoke up and is finally getting the justice she deserves ๐Ÿ™. And let's be real, who knew being a councillor would be soooo not equal to being a supervillain ๐Ÿฆ‡?

๐Ÿคฏ I'm literally shook by this whole thing... a politician admitting to drugging and raping his ex-wife? How could he even think he could get away with that for so long?! And now these other guys are coming forward, allegedly aiding in her abuse? It's like, how do you even justify this kind of behavior? I mean, the fact that he was able to keep it all hidden while being a councillor is just mind-blowing... it's like, what were they thinking?! The whole thing is just so twisted and disturbing ๐Ÿ™…โ€โ™‚๏ธ. And poor Joanne Young, she's just been through so much... I hope she gets the justice she deserves ๐Ÿ’ฏ.

"Actions speak louder than words." ๐Ÿค Philip Young's rise through politics was a perfect example of how deceit and hypocrisy can hide behind a mask of respectability. It's alarming to think that someone who was trusted with power could be capable of such heinous crimes, especially against their own partner. The bravery of Joanne Young in speaking out and becoming a key witness is truly admirable, but sadly, her experience is not an isolated incident. ๐Ÿšจ
