Man I cant even imagine what it would've been like to play alongside Ronald Koeman . But you know, I feel bad for Onopko - all that hard work and dedication, and then some face-obsessed committee at FC Barcelona holds him back. It's crazy to think about how a club's aesthetics can make or break someone's career . I mean, who decides these things anyway? It's not like it was the 90s and everyone just accepted whoever showed up on time for training sessions . Nowadays you'd be lucky to get a decent gig if you don't have 10k followers on Instagram . Anyways, Onopko seems like a solid dude - I wish him all the best in his current role and glad he didn't regret leaving Oviedo for Rostov
I mean, can you even imagine? A whole clause in a contract because of how you look? It's wild. I guess it just goes to show that football is full of surprises and sometimes the biggest surprises are ones we least expect. Onopko's story might be a bit messed up, but he's still got some serious cred for playing 216 games and scoring seven goals in La Liga! What would've happened if he'd joined Barcelona? Would he still be on Oviedo's books or somewhere even higher up the league ladder? It'll never know...
so this guy's career is almost derailed by bc of how he looks lol its wild that a club would make decisions based on aesthetics like what even is FC barca's style these days? and omg the clause in his Oviedo contract was crazy who comes up with this stuff?
anyway Onopko seems like a cool dude tho glad he doesnt regret his decision, all things considered he had an amazing career 109 caps for Russia is no joke
I'm so disappointed that some clubs prioritize looks over talent back then. I mean, Victor Onopko was a solid defender, played a lot of games, and even got 109 caps for Russia ! It's just not fair that he was judged on his appearance instead of his skills on the pitch. The fact that the FC Barcelona's aesthetics committee played a role in him leaving Oviedo is just ridiculous . Can you imagine if someone told you you're not good enough because you don't fit their idea of 'pretty'? Anyway, I'm glad Onopko has moved on and is proud of his achievements .
